I have been meaning to try Hearts. Came here around 1:00 pm on a Saturday and waited for maybe 20 minutes to get seating. Service was prompt. Wait staff were attentive and very friendly. The aesthetic of the place would be any plant lovers dream. This establishment is embellished in beautiful plants that provide a calming atmosphere. If it's breezy and pleasant outside, I highly encourage outdoor seating. We were seated indoors, where it was very stuffy with poor circulation. The outdoor seating is spacious and shaded, great for dining in. We ordered the advertised espresso drink with orange zest cold foam 3/5. Very little flavor from the cold foam, but not bad overall. French toast 5/5. More than enough is given for you to share with someone. It was too much for one person to eat. The flambé banana that comes on top was the perfect added touch. Breakfast burrito 3/5. It seems like it was missing something. Spicy Toucan 5/5. The best drink! Reminds you of a spicy marg bursting with flavor. I enjoyed everything about Hearts. It was so bright in there, and the plants made me feel at home. The espresso martini was delicious and strong, the banana liquor was a creative touch. The salmon grain bowl was flavorful and the portion was enough for leftovers. My friend ordered the pancakes and they were amazing, although I don't like sweet things for breakfast, they weren't overly sweet like most restaurants pancakes. I've had breakfast at Hearts a few times and had a pretty decent experience. This last time I tried something new, and got a breakfast wrap that was ok. I wish I had gotten the ricotta pancakes, as they are my favorite thing on the menu. Parking is basically non-existent. You're better off trying to find street parking outside. I think this place has great potential but for most of our group it was only pretty good just not for the price. Food: The only items we ordered that got glowing reviews were the matcha latte and The Godmother. The food overall was good because it's lighter compared to the standard Nashville breakfast foods, but the prices leaned high for the taste and portions. Also, the poached eggs in the Egg Benny were almost hard and not runny at all. Service: The staff were nice and attentive! This is a wonderful Australian inspired cafe gem with yummy food and great coffee. I got the corn and zucchini fritter with egg, bacon, and avocado and it was amazing. Everything goes well together especially with the chimichurri sauce on top. The corn and zucchini fritter is unique but really good. One thing that would have made this better was the substitution because I wanted the behive vegan chorizo instead of the bacon (on the menu is the same price), but the waiter told me that it was another $2/3 for the substitution and a side would've been $4.5. However bacon and the vegan chorizo were both the same price, so I'm not sure why they couldn't substitute it without any extra charge. I guess maybe because they have to customize that item to take out bacon and put vegan chorizo? Latte was delicious and they had lots of good flavors. read more

Hearts is a cute spot with great coffee and brunch in East Nashville. It's always busy so I was worried I'd have to wait a long time, but luckily there was one table left when I got there. They also have seating outdoors in the back, which would've been nice for a day with good weather. I got a flat white and it was delicious and you could actually taste the coffee which I appreciate. So many good choices for food! But I decided to get the eggs Benny on a potato hash brown with arugula salad. It's interesting that it was on a hashbrown patty but I actually loved it more than just an English muffin. It gave it more flavor and went with the dish. Coming on Fathers Day was a bold choice for our first time, about a 40 minute wait for a table. We were able to order drinks thankfully - the bar seats opened up and when another group and my boyfriend and I tried to sit we were told to move so people can sit there. Only for another couple to sit there who just walked in and for another group of two girls. Before we let that get to us, we decided to leave and order take out instead. Would definitely love to leave another review for when we take another go at dining inside when it's not too busy and there's not too much stress on the workers! Our take out order took about 20 minutes, we ordered the Corn + Zucchini Fritters, the God Mother and a side of Harissa Sweet Potatoes! The food was packaged nicely and was still warm by the time we got home. We were a little nervous about getting take out but it ended working out perfectly! We also ordered a Rose Matcha Latte and an Iced Latte. (I think the Rose flavor was a tad overpowering, it was too similar to rose scented soap for my senses BUT the matcha itself was great!) Loved visiting Hearts recently for a tasty weekday brunch! This bright and beautiful cafe in East Nashville is a fun option for anyone looking for lighter, fresher fare. There is a small free parking lot attached (which is definitely noteworthy for East Nashville), as well as nearby street parking and another, larger lot right off of Petway Ave. My friend and I met up around 10 a.m. on a Friday and were able to grab a table right away. The seating area is small and a little tight - the tables are very close together. Not a huge deal, as I do think they're making the best use of the space they have, but just something to note if you're looking for a more intimate brunch setting. On a recommendation from my friend, I ordered their Eggs Benny. This is not your typical Benedict - your poached eggs and Hollandaise are served on top of hashbrowns instead of English muffins. Wonderful place with unique offerings! They don't take reservations. We had an early brunch to near the rush and it was so worth it. Parking is very limited so make sure that you give yourself time and be ready to find an alternate location to park. Our server was very nice. Stopped by for a late brunch, and was pleasantly surprised by the food here. It's really good. Those hot cakes are some of the best in Nashville, seriously. Service is very attentive and they're pretty nice staff. They have vegan options as well, but I didn't try those. It's a small restaurant with just a few tables, but nicely decorated. This is one of those "try hard to be trendy" places that is overpriced with sub-par service. The food is served a la carte, a tiny breakfast burrito for $17. Not even a side salad. We sat down and ordered our drinks and food. It came out incorrectly. If that wasn't bad enough, we had to remind the server of our lattes, and they didn't come out until 20 mins AFTER we had finished eating our food. I asked if we could get to go cups since we were fully finished with our meals, and we weren't offered for them to be comped, or even discounted. As Waze was bushwhacking us through Nashville trying to avoid the traffic on 65, we decided that it would probably be a good time to take a lunch break. Of course I pulled up my faithful Yelp and found Hearts. We got there at 11 on a Saturday. There was a large throng milling around out front waiting for tables. We requested first available and after a short 10 minute wait ended up sitting at the small bar. We probably had the best seat in the house, the bartender was an absolute delight. We ordered the ricotta pancakes and bacon to share. After another brief wait, our food arrived. The pancakes, topped with grilled pineapple and butterscotch sauce were delicious - the pancakes were exceptionally light and fluffy, the sauce sweet but not obnoxiously so. They were perfect and I'm glad we shared - we didn't quite finish them. Where the pancakes excelled, the thickish bacon was barely cooked. It may have had potential with another minute or two on the grill. Honestly, at $4.50 for three slices, I'd skip it next time. The brunch menu had the requisite avocado toast and a couple of other toasts that looked interesting. There were unique variations of traditional breakfast items. I don't know if this is a trend but the menu was heavy with sunny side up eggs - they were an ingredient on a good number of items. The menu was rounded out by a couple of bowls, a few sandwiches and some baked goods. There was an extensive bar menu of which I would have loved to explore but we still had 350 miles to go. As I looked around the restaurant, I came to the realization that we were the oldest people in the room by at least 25 years. That's all right - we were always the "cool parents". I'd move to east Nashville just to have breakfast here every day. The house we rented was a block away and we couldn't have lucked out any better. This place is everything. Our server was wonderful, the outdoor seating was awesome and the food was absolutely incredible. My beverage of choice, I joked when the server asked if we wanted to start with coffee. I said I don't drink coffee but I would drink an espresso martini (hey, no judgment, I was on vacay) and that's how I started my day. The whipped ricotta so creamy, was perfect with the rosemary honey and fresh peaches and raspberries. It screamed summer and it's a must-get. I pretty much liked everything about Hearts. The food is great, the service is awesome, the coffee drinks are good, but the seating here is very tight. They have a small main dining area with two booths, a bar, and a few two tops in a snug corner. There's also an outdoor patio area in the back with some picnic table set up. This place is solid for a solo laptop work session or a small breakfast party hang. I ordered a iced latte and the Godmother breakfast sandwich. The sandwich was delicious! A super soft brioche with bacon, tomato jam, and chili infused eggs. I really enjoyed the chili addition to the egg; that little extra spice was awesome. My server, Melissa, who was amazing and by the way also from San Diego What what?!" Suggested adding some of their chimichurri sauce to the sando and, oh my, this was clutch and that sauce is drinkable! The iced latte was just ok and a little too heavy on the milk, but their menu has a handful of caffeinated and boozy drinks. The seating here is tight and I couldn't quite get comfortable enough to work on my comp after eating breakfast. They do have a new location in the 12-South neighborhood!
