The view from the café looking into the dining area

This is a cozy little café that serves breakfast, lunch and do some catering. The staff were friendly and the service was good. This establishment provides hope and opportunity for the disenfranchised in Nashville. You can read their mission on the website. They offer Apps, Australian Specialties, Salads, Baked Potatoes, Burgers, Tacos, Sandwiches, Wraps, Breakfast, Crepes, Pancakes and Expresso and Coffees. Everything we got was Tasty and the Pastries on the Meat Pies are light and flaky. Good comfort food.

A cozy space, hiding in broad daylight, this gem offers an uncomplicated and friendly dining experience with a focus on Australian fare. The flaky meat pie, paired with perfectly seasoned fries was just the base I needed today. The meat pie, with its golden, flaky crust, was in itself a wonderful introduction to what I would hope are Australian staples. As you take your first bite, the crust crumbles delicately, revealing a hearty filling that is rich and savory. The minced beef, was seasoned well with a blend of herbs and spices, a hint of thyme for sure. Complementing the pie are the seasoned fries, which are nothing short of perfection. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Lunch was sprinkled with kind and genuine service. What more could you ask for!

The Cookery is one of favorite places! It's NYE and we came for takeout lunch. Thrilled to see the old menu back- all our faves are on it. Mine is the Ultima Salad , it comes with salad and fruit and choice of two more- I choose chicken salad and pasta salad. Delish!!! Frankly- everything they make here is fabulous and you can't go wrong. Great mission and you can purchase gift cards to be given to those who are hungry and without money. The spiritual ambience is welcoming and relaxing.

Hot case with meat pies, chicken pot pies, and sausage rolls. Aussie style comfort food!

The best place to eat near Belmont. This is a wonderful place to have a meal. The restaurant has a mission to train homeless men to be cooks. It also has a program to feed the homeless and you can buy $5 or $10 meals for them to pay forward. The people here are so nice and the restaurant is so homey and there is lots of seating. The food here is delicious, and Breakfast is served all day! I love the Breakfast Bowl, the BLT, the fish, the pork, and the Burgers. My wife loves the salads. I highly recommend the Cookery!

Gracious welcome, attentive staff, warm and hospitable environment, great coffee. Clearly quality kitchen. Partner had the cookery hash and opted to have an egg on top. Raved about it - loved the chipotle sauce. Fresh flavors came through. I had the Aussie Avo Smash . Goodness! Tahini complemented the avocado, beautiful, fresh greens, right texture and bread. Will definitely return and spreading the word. Also appreciate the balance - thank you for keeping hours that allow the staff to explore and engage across all of the other aspects of life. Well done and thank you!!!

Cookery Mac & Cheese, breakfast Pot Pie (special)

Great place for come classic Nashville fare! We had the breakfast pot pie- really nice flaky crust and tasty flavors, the Mac and cheese was creamy and the hot chicken sliders (off menu special) were juicy and tender. Great stop in for an out of towner! Service is great and staff is very friendly.

I always laugh when someone says they have the "best" of anything, like The Cookery does about their cinnamon rolls....but let me tell you, they are not kidding. The food is really, really good here. Plus they have a philanthropic side to their business that supports Nashville residents who have fallen on hard times. Prices aren't cheap but reasonable for 12th Ave. Definitely worth a visit, especially if you love cinnamon rolls!

To make a long story short, I was having a bad morning and was in desperate need of a cinnamon roll. However, for a lot of reasons, I was struggling to find a place where I could quickly get one before work. Some random person on social media told me the cinnamon rolls here were legendary, so I thought I might as well, it was close enough to work. Oh. My. Lord. That cinnamon roll was DELICIOUS. Better yet, right as I walked in the door to pick it up, it had just come out. They were so quick and so nice, too, even though I was just popping in. I absolutely will be returning to dine in sometime, because I can never forget that cinnamon roll.

First time visiting this establishment. While it was very hectic, we still enjoyed our experience. This is a Christ centered business who is very welcoming of ALL. Loved the contemporary music they played. We were greeted by a couple gentleman who instructed us to sit wherever we'd like. They have two areas used for inside dining and an outside seating area as well. Based off numerous YouTube videos of people trying vegemite, we had to try it ourselves. I personally wasn't a fan. It's an acquired taste for sure. I ordered the breakfast wrap with crispy bacon, which was pretty good just needed some extra seasoning. My friend ordered the breakfast crepe add crispy bacon (bacon was definitely limp). We ended up switching meals as she liked mine over hers. Must try The Bees Knees coffee drink and Fruited Tea (very refreshing) I'm assuming Sundays are their busiest days, which is why everything was hectic and a bit rushed or forgotten about.

They have started doing a little better about having outlet options, but mainly at those tall, long skinny tables. The ones that aren't necessarily great for working because they're so high up and can make your legs feel weird after awhile. Haha. The other semi complaint I have is that they close early. 3 pm is early when you want to try and work. Drinks are good. I don't drink a ton of coffee these days, but what I've had there was good. I get either their chai or matcha. Both of those I enjoy! I had a sandwich there recently. I wanted to roll my eyes at the price truthfully. However, when it came.. WOAH. It was GIANT. I was thoroughly impressed. It was really really good. I had to take half of it home and put it in the fridge. When I came back home hours later... it was STILL GOOD. The bread was not soggy either! That's HUGE! Ok so overall, I highly recommend this place and it's one of my go to spots.

I'd still consider going back since they're open fairly late, which I really appreciate. There's a small parking lot next to the shop, which is convenient. Overall, a fun spot for the atmosphere even if the coffee didn't quite hit for me.

The customer service is top notch. Be prepared for a line, it is VERY busy but I promise it is worth the wait. There was a line when we arrived, but it wasn't so bad. It moved by pretty quickly. While in line, you bypass all the pastries displayed behind the glass and they looked beautiful! Everything looked amazing. I ended up ordering the Twice Baked Croissant and the Fried Chicken Breakfast Sandwich. The Twice Baked Croissant was just incredible. It had pistachios on top, a pistachio cream inside, and also a cherry or raspberry jam inside too. I love pistachios, and the pistachio cream inside was so light, creamy, delicate, but flavorful. I absolutely loved all the different textures. The croissant was airy and fluffy inside, and the outside had a nice flaky exterior. And the fruit jam inside complemented the pistachio cream very well, it added a nice sweetness that blended well with the cream. For me, it tied the whole thing together. I will definitely be thinking of this pastry when I think of pistachio croissants. And for the Fried Chicken Breakfast Sandwich? Wow. I didn't know what to expect, but it was much larger than I anticipated. It was tall, like when I was bringing it to the table the top part of the bun almost fell off my plate because it had height. The fried chicken piece was great: juicy and had a nice golden color. It was crispy and also quite large for a chicken piece.. All the components about it were executed well: the fried chicken, the coleslaw! (i'm a coleslaw fanatic), and the sauce inside the sandwich was wonderful. Also last but not least, the fried egg too? Wow. I love a good runny egg. I'm not exaggerating, I was drenching the pieces of my sandwich in the sauce on my plate. It was just that good. Genuinely, I couldn't believe I finished that sandwich because it was very filling and that fried chicken piece was huge! Service was fast and friendly, I liked interacting with them. It is pretty small inside and we came on a weekend so it was busy and packed. We were lucky to snag a small table but it was difficult to find seating when we got our food. All in all, I'm so happy we came here. Yes it is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The quality is clearly there and showed up through everything we got. I had such a memorable time, thank you for taking care of us!
