The Authentique truly feels like a little piece of France tucked into East Nashville. The décor, the vibe, hearing so many different languages around us, it honestly felt like being back in Europe. They have one of the most impressive wine lists I've seen in the city, and if you're indecisive like me, the wine flights are the way to go. We did the Tour de France flight, my husband went with the whites, I did the reds, and everything was incredible. The Beaujolais, Pinot Noir, Chards (yes, because we of course shared haha)... just wow. We paired it all with steak tartare (yes, they have French bites too!), plus they offer charcuterie boards, crepes, and more. Definitely coming back for those. We visited Authentique for a themed wine class and we had SUCH a great time! Brock, the instructor was so fun, so knowledgeable, and we had a great experience. We're getting married in Italy so we specifically were interested in the Italian themed tasting, but they do different themes every Tuesday and the owner Alex seems just as enthusiastic about French, Italian, and just any wine really. We ordered the raclette charcuterie board (for 2) which was a special, and it was so fun! You get to melt the cheese right in front of you, and eat at your own pace. And OBVIOUSLY we had to end the night with a Nutella banana crepe, which is the lightest, tastiest thing to ever grace your lips. read more

My friend brought me here for my birthday! I was extremely pleased with our time at the authentique. Our waiter was very knowledgable about every wine on the menu. This is helpful for me, as I dont know specifics just general information about wine. It was so fun to learn about the kinds of wine they have. We did the specialty red flight. It was five different wines ranging from least bold to most. Sadly for me, my favorite was the most expensive one. Although, I will probably not buy a whole bottle of this it was very fun to try. They also threw in a birthday surprise- salted caramel crepe. It was quite literally the best crepe Ive ever had (Ive only eaten crepes in France up until now). Recently moved to the East side of the city and have been in search of a chill wine bar, and then boom, we spotted The Authentique (Thanks Yelp!) The Authentique is a French inspired wine bar that sits in a non-descript strip mall on Gallatin Avenue not far from Tailgate Brewery, Kroger and Publix. While the exterior is pretty unassuming and to be honest, "meh", the moment you walk in the door you pick up the vibe of quaint wine bar. From the ornate ceiling tiles, to the dark walls with artwork in oversized frames to the decorative lighting, this place certainly knows who they are. While everything above sounds grandiose, this spot is quite small...they just have a lot packed into this small space! This is the perfect spot for a small meet up, date night or even a pre/post dinner night cap...but anything beyond a group of 4 is going to be tough here. The bar seats around 10, then there are 3 hightops and 4 to 5 standard tables ranging in 2 to 4 tops. For the best enjoyment for you and everyone else, I would say this is not the spot for a large group or party. Now down to the goods! We had a few glasses of wine that were recommended to us by the owner, and we paired it with the charcuterie board. The wine was excellent, a great recommendation and great sip. The charcuterie board was standard, nothing exciting, but definitely nothing terrible. It paired well with our wine. Both came at a premium cost, which was not surprising, but slightly surprising. Two glasses of wine and a charcuterie board ran us around $60. Overall, The Authentique is a great find and a place that we will certainly swing back through when the vibe beckons! Outside of the cost above, my only other issue is that on the night we went, it was blazing hot inside. Not sure if that is a temperature regulation thing for the wine, but it was pretty unpleasant, which is why we only stayed for one glass. read more

I like this little place. It's very hard to find even when you're looking for it. It doesn't have bright lights or a sign on the street level so if you're driving you will kiss it. It right across the street from Advanced Financial on Gallatin and next to Boost Mobile and a pizza place. As soon as you walk in, you'll feel you stepped somewhere in Europe. The light is mellow and they have candles that make it even more cozy. The music is very European too and a bit loud for the small space but at the same time it works ok so you don't hear everyone else's conversation. They offer small plates food and a variety of wines, beers and they have a small section of non-alcoholic beverages too to choose from. The staff was friendly and attentive. I'm so glad I was finally able to visit The Authentique! It's tucked away in a nondescript strip mall on Gallatin Road. Once inside you are transported to France. They were playing a mix of music but I do remember Manu Chao was in the rotation. There were plenty of wine options and snacks. We tried a brut rose, two different reds, and a white. All were smooth and had great tasting notes. Price wise too, it was exactly where I wanted it to be. They also carried a bunch of bottles at different price pints. The snacks offered were charcuterie, fois gras, sturgeon caviar, a few desserts, and more. I can't comment on the food, we stopped in for drinks only. My wife and I have wanted to try this spot for quite some time and on a random night this last week we decided to stop for a drink. Upon on arrival we were able to park at the front entrance (free parking). I noticed last year that the ownership had changed and happened to be a very professionally young couple who purchased the spot. The gentleman who served our meal which was our waiter Alexander for our 30th wedding anniversary at another establishment. Alexander was was the new owner with his partner Philippine purchased then reopened this cool spot. Once we entered the establishment we were immediately welcomed in by both owners. The atmosphere was extremely welcoming and extremely comfortable making for a great hang out to collaborate with friends. I observed many locals from area enjoying a great place that lends itself to great times and many wonderful memories. Alex is wise beyond his years and Philippine was as wonderful and knowledgeable about the wines as well as food. The power couple have dedicated themselves to a successful venture and went above and beyond to explain each choice we made while enjoying the relaxed vibe. I ordered the hot brownie which Chef Anton prepared and it was excellent! We observed Chef Anton preparing various dishes with laser focus. Chef Anton displayed perfect execution and we could not help but notice the painstaking detail in executing his presentation/soul of his food.
