It took 21 minutes for a drink order (she actually never asked if wanted a drink - we asked if we donkey have one), never cross sold their mimosa (it was brunch). I had to ask for a refill, the staff person did not explain dishes well and never offered guidance . We were also not offered dessert . Audrey is open for a limited time for lunch, and I'm surprised that it isn't more crowded, to be honest. We enjoyed a quiet meal with only 2-3 other groups in the whole restaurant. We were well taken care of; our drinks were never empty, and the staff were attentive to our needs. The fries were incredibly flavorful, and the burger was absolutely delightful. I probably would not order the grilled bread again, but that is my personal preference. You can tell this is a high quality spot, and it is offering great meals at an affordable price. The restaurant is decorated with dried herbs and flowers, and you can see your food being delicately prepared in the open kitchen. Went to the upstairs bar at Audrey to take advantage of their new $5 menu. They run a $5 menu around the clock at the upstairs bar. They had 5 wines and a handful of cocktails to pick from for the $5 options. Their full bar is also available. They then also offer a handful of $5 snacks, $10 heavier food items and a $15 burger, plus you can order from their full menu as well. We got the hush puppies, the peaches with prosciutto, the crackers with pimento cheese, boudin sausage, the fries and the cornbread. My favorite was the peaches and prosciutto, such a great combo that I had not had before. I went with four girls and we just split everything. I had a lovely dinner here! They have unique cocktails which is always a fun start. We tried the cornbread which was delicious!! The honey on top was so perfect and it was not dry at all. I tried the roasted chicken and it was so moist and flavorful! I also tried the lobster risotto which was a perfect portion and was flavored really nicely. We just went back to Audrey but instead went to the second floor where they offer $5 cocktails and it was so lovely! It's a smaller section but it is so affordable and the food and drink was great. Everything is always excellent. Upstairs is a go to for my husband and I now for date night! It's never too crowded even though it's small. The $5 cocktails are some of the best in town and the $15 Audrey burger is my husbands favorite burger. Have never eaten downstairs but have heard good things! Give them a try! read more

Finally got to check this place out. Wanted to see what was on that $5 menu. My $5 cocktail was really good. I got the well and house tonic with tequila and i asked if she can add some oranges and it was light and refreshing. It was kind of busy for a Thursday nite so the service was a little slow but it was ok. We wasn't in no hurry. We tried the smoked trout and the tallow fries and i liked it. First time here, Sean Brock pulled it off again! Had the beef which we were told was strip but there's no way. It was indistinguishable from the best filet you've had. Potato puree and mushrooms were perfect and oh yeah, bone marrow reduction. So there's that. Cornbread was great, different recipe than his famous one. Scrapple is unique and worth a try! Only complaint is it's very dark inside. Go to the bar upstairs while you wait for some amazing tiny $5 cocktails! My dining companion has a hearing disability, so loud restaurants take special planning. This restaurant was able to accommodate us by placing us in a more private corner. The entire dining experience was extraordinary! From the minute we walked in, we were made to feel special and as if we were the only people there. The menu is a wonderful delight of food flavors and presentation. Our server was attentive yet invisible at the same time We had ordered the Prix Fixed for the evening. It was a wonderful sampling of all of their best foods. We began with two house drinks. My companion had the marigold, and I had the Cherry. They were absolutely delicious. We added the additional food add-on, in addition to the wine pairing. I didn't take a picture of the menu, so I don't remember what everything was called. However, I took a picture of almost every course. It was well paced, not rushed, and the sommelier seemed to appear out of nowhere to fill our wine glasses. We think Audrey is the best restaurant in Nashville - and one of the best in the U.S. Let's start there... Every bite here felt like it had been thought through, rooted in tradition, but elevated - dishes with ingredients that felt both familiar and rare. Southern ingenuity turned into something you don't expect. The space itself is a perfect fit- warm but with a minimalist chic. You can tell you're there to eat, but there's a serious overtone probably driven by the serious chefs- a special alchemy going on in that open kitchen. To put it into perspective. The sommelier was very helpful and knowledgeable- we had a great Bordeau red wine out of their very extensive wine list (we went on a Wednesday so all bottles below $200 are half price!). We selected the feast to sample what the kitchen offers and it was a good choice. We especially like the trout cakes, the salad, the cornbread bread. The chicken which is often identified as the best fish was the only mildly disappointing dish. They have Appalachian and Southern inspired ( Seasonal )Menus along with responsibly sourced ingredients, many from Local Farms. They serve Dinner daily and Brunch on the weekends. They also have a family style menu for the brunch if you have a group. They have Private Dining upstairs for groups of 12 or more we were told by our server, who by the way was very nice, friendly and totally awesome. The interior of the restaurant has soft wood tones with a rustic feel and Folk Art on the walls. It's very warm and welcoming, which compliments the food. This review is for the weekend Brunch. The menu is small ,but big enough for everyone to find something they like. They have the typical Brunch drinks along with several non alcoholic options. Our experience at Audrey was top notch! We are from Appalachia and we loved the upscale takes on our home food. Our server was lovely. (I can't remember his name but he is from Boston and deserves all the accolades). The chef visited our table with a Kilt lettuce surprise that was phenomenal. We had a Saturday brunch here and the restaurant is beautiful. Being able to see the whole kitchen is always a treat and the decor and ambiance is great during the day and I'm sure even better at night. Don't forget to check out the bathrooms - they might be the best part! Service wasn't great - the waitress wasn't helpful and when we asked for a recommendation, she simply said "everything is great" - which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I'm not sure if the server was new because when we asked questions they didn't know any answers. Everything was also very slow. They coursed everything out for us but we waited about 20 minutes between courses and then even longer for the check after we were done. The food was really good! Audrey exceeded expectations! I chose this restaurant special for my husband. It was his first time in Nashville, and we wanted to try some regional cuisine. Audrey features Appalachian cultural foods and focuses on produce that is in season. When I say that everything we tasted was delicious, I am not exaggerating! The most memorable dish was the tomatoes. And the breads with fresh butter were incredible. We even tried the paw paw dessert, and it great! And, the result is absolutely breathtaking when it comes to absorbing the space. Yet, the feeling of stumbling into a museum is only the beginning of provoking experiences. The cuisine crafted by Sean Brock is of unparalleled quality. The beef short rib is a dish that stands by itself in all aspects. It is literally served by itself without a side in a very minimalistic presentation while the delicate flavor bursting quality of the preparation requires no distractions. It is a genuine masterpiece of cooking. Chef Brock and the team deserve every bit of accolades for this. Second favorite is the chicken, served in a very generous portion and impressively succulent. The wine list is a solid one with reasonable up-charge and some one of a kind bottles. A Saperavi from Oregon? Where is the sign up list for that? The team is efficient and a special note of respect goes out to the creative whiz of a bartender on the second floor cocktail lounge: a young lady who is truly impressive at what she does. read more

Gluten free haven. We came across this restaurant in east Nashville while we were on our way to another restaurant for brunch. We thought this place looked interesting and came here instead. The ambience starts before you walk through the door. Chic and earthy combined. Our waitress introduced us to the restaurant. Every item on the menu is local and fresh. The dining area has full view of the kitchen. Perfect chill music playing. I informed our waitress that I am gluten free, my partner is not. They made accommodations for us. We ordered the family brunch. First we were served salad, deviled eggs, sausage balls. The salad might have been too fresh as a bug crawled out of it. We notified our waitress and were given a fresh salad. The sausage balls were not gluten free so the chef made me a Johnny cake topped with pimento cheese. Flavorful, rich, and amazing. My favorite was the deviled eggs! Then we were served bacon and sausage topped with syrup, scrambled eggs, French toast and hashbrowns. The gluten free version was served to me. The drinks are also phenomenal! As a person with celiac this restaurant impressed me greatly. For once I didn't feel sick after eating at a restaurant. We can't wait to come back for dinner! I had brunch with a friend at Audrey last weekend when I was back in Nashville for a wedding. Audrey is one of chef Sean Brock's Nashville restaurants, and it focuses on a modern approach to Southern and Appalachian food (and is inspired by Brock's grandmother Audrey). We each had a brunch cocktail (bloody for me, mimosa for my friend). I ordered the pit cooked lion's mane mushroom with pickled peach, sweet corn, and shiso, and my friend ordered the cast iron omelet with smoked butter, cheese, and chives. We also shared the buckwheat and cornmeal pancakes with peaches and hickory syrup. All the food was delicious - the mushrooms and the cast iron omelet (which to me is more of a brunch soufflé, rather than an omelet, but who cares when the dish tastes that great) especially. I have a higher preference for salt than probably some people, but I will say that the omelet was just on the line for me - almost too salty. But they definitely aren't afraid of salt at Audrey! The restaurant is really beautiful - a stunner. Great art, great decor, great open views of the kitchen so everyone gets a little chef's table experience. Really great, cool design throughout. My spouse and I had such a dreamy evening at Audrey. It's beautiful restaurant, cozy yet elevated, reminiscent of a freshly designed cabin somewhere mountainous. And the artwork! So captivating. The service was pristine; our wine and water glasses were never empty. Our server even gifted us some free bubbly for our anniversary. Of course the food was outstanding; I was in a trance during the entire experience of my strawberry pretzel salad (my spouse then noted that it must have been good, since I had stopped talking so suddenly). My meal -- brunch -- was amazing. Audrey has "The Feast," which is a family-style meal, and they bring out a bunch of dishes that they have been creating and loving lately. Our round table was full of delicious things: buckwheat and cornmeal pancakes (with shagbark syrup on the side); grits with scallops, corn and a cured egg yolk; buttermilk biscuits with sausage gravy; hash browns; fried apples; soft scrambled eggs; tomato gravy; and beignets afterward. We also added on an order of bacon. It was truly a feast! I loved every single thing that I tasted. I think my favorite was the buckwheat pancakes, though -- they were chewy and sweet, but with a touch of heartiness from the whole grains. The coffee is great, too, and served adorned with a knitted cozy around the cup. It went well with the second dessert my table ordered, because the beignets just weren't enough: the peanut and sorghum sticky bun. If you're here later in the day, you can go upstairs and enjoy a meal and/or drink at June, a small restaurant with a tasting menu and bar that's housed above Audrey. It's an intimate space -- just 37 seats. If you're wondering, like I was, what is up with all of these women's names: it's because the restaurant, Audrey, was chef Sean Brock's grandmother's first name, and June was her middle name. She and her Appalachian roots are his inspiration for the restaurant and the food he and his staff make. This restaurant is an Experience with a capital E. The kitchen is open and in the middle of the restaurant, so you can see all of the action happening. This was very satisfying for me, a nosy person in general. I suggest leaving the kids at home. But even if you don't, Audrey is a family friendly restaurant (there's a changing table in the restroom). This is the kind of place where you want to luxuriate and take your time, and try some new takes on old classics. read more

Came very early on a Tuesday and this was the place to be. The decor and layout is absolutely stunning. The open kitchen with the restaurant tables surrounding, make for a beautiful setting. Our server was kind and attentive, with plenty of suggestions. The mixology is quite intriguing. I had the Fig & Sage and was pleasantly surprised by how well the flavors combined. You can choose the "feast" and have most of the menu served family style or order individually. The feast felt like a lot for our small group so we chose individual orders. Starters: we had the cornbread (good but not great, very cakey) and the ham, which sounded okay but was a server suggestion and was truly amazing. Entrees: the steak was delicious and perfectly cooked, the chicken and dumplings were also very good and are uniquely served - perfect for sharing, the potatoes were a nice side to tie it all together (& had a delicious sauce) and do not count out the carrots! The carrots were surprisingly delicious with a great foamy sauce layer. Our server was great but I worry they may have been a bit understaffed. Not sure if it's a logistics issue or if there weren't runners but we waited quite a long time for individual drink orders (20 min for 1 and 15 min for another). Also I must say I understand there is an entire side of Yelp focused on bathrooms and the bathroom in this restaurant was the most beautiful bathroom I've ever seen. I want whoever designed that to design my bedroom. Truly impeccable. Would come back specifically for the bathroom asap. This was one of the highlights of our Nashville Trip. The open kitchen is a beautiful thing to watch. When you see the restaurant encircles the kitchen, you know it's gonna be a culinary driven experience. Ashton is a phenomenal conductor of the evening. He expertly led us through the evening answering questions about food, drinks, plates, utensils, Sean, the Company, ( you get the idea... ). The Mushroom Bisque is Rich. The Venison Tender. The Corn Bread was Very Disappointing. He said they were having some supply issues... The Steak was great, the Catfish was awesome, and my friend said the Lion's Mane Mushroom entree was the highlight of the trip. We regret not getting the Feast, but we accidentally had a late lunch. Audrey was an absolutely incredible spot to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Delicious food, memorable service, and an eclectically decorate space with Southern flair ... what could be better? We actually hadn't planned on visiting when we did, and therefore we did not have a reservation. Since it was a Sunday evening, we decided to try our luck and stop in anyways, and we managed to snag two seats at the intimate bar upstairs. Audrey recently launched its happy hour menu, which runs Sunday - Thursday from 5-7 p.m. and features most of its appetizer menu, along with a few fun cocktails. I started with the "Last Word," which was pretty boozy but still sippable. My husband ordered the "Jack Rose," which was sweet and balanced. We shared a few of the appetizers - including the Sourdough Bread, the Fried Apples, and the Grilled Venison and Sweet Potato Skewer. The bread was some of the best I've had ... crisp and crusty on the outside, and soft and doughy on the inside. The apples are a must-order ... if you're worried about them being sweet, don't. This is an apple dish like you've never had before. The venison was also quite tasty - and had a smoky quality to it that paired nicely with the sweet potatoes. For dinner, we split the Pan Fried Catfish. This expertly prepared fish practically melts in your mouth ... and the breading is simple but delicious. I'd definitely order this again ... and I'm not even a big fan of catfish! For dessert, we ordered a few more cocktails from the regular menu. The "Chicory Martini" is Audrey's tunique ake on the espresso martini craze, and is made with tequila and other fun additions. We also shared the Apple Crumble ... which is another must-order. The apples were soft, but still had enough bite to them to add a bit of texture to the dessert. The crumble wasn't overwhelmingly sweet, which is nice since they serve this dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I won't say that this wasn't an expensive meal ... but I think it's worth noting that if you visit during happy hour, you're able to stretch your dollar a bit further. Although we loved the food, I have to say that the best part of this meal was the service we received from Alex the bartender. He took excellent care of us from start to finish ... and went above and beyond to provide thoughtful recommendations and insight into some of the best dishes on the menu. Went here on the recommendation of my sister who went over 5 years ago and it was just as good as she raved back then. Lively, open space surrounding the open kitchen and the service was absolutely stunning. Each individual who came to the table was kind, knowledgeable, and felt completely sincere. I had the trout and my husband had the beef and both were flavorful in so many ways we've never experienced before - which is always the hope! The wines were so complimentary, too, really polished each bite. Appreciated the heavy first pour, too, given the four appetizers it was accompanying. And, finally got a chance to try orange wine (see photo)! So interesting, definitely give it a shot if you have not yet.
