If you are wine tasting and don't want to go all the way into Old Town Temecula, THIS is the place to go for great food. This was our third visit and food has been great all three times. The first time we got sandwiches, which were yummy. The second and third time we got tapas, which were even better. Our experience on this Mother's Day weekend was not unexpected. Gaspar's was overcrowded and the staff hustled. Everyone from the "supervisors " to the table staff were BUSY. We had high hopes when we pulled up to this hilltop tasting room/restaurant. First bummer was the huge outside tasting area was not pet friendly (I'm not a pet person, but my wife had brought our dog on the trip). Service was very slow (moderately busy at 2p on a Wednesday). Made us feel like we were in the wrong when they brought out a Sauvignon blanc although we ordered a Chardonnay and then again when the $28 grilled cheese with bacon had no bacon. This restaurant has great view. But, we had reservation but we waited for long time got the table. Food was ok. Nothing special. But be careful, this restaurant over charge you on food items. Salmon sandwiche $22 on menu they charge $24. Burger $25 they charge $27 on bill. And charge us. Fries $9 which we did not order and we never got them. And we order three salad it was tasteless so we ask server for extra dressing. Later they charge us $4.5 for salad dressing. What! This is crazy they rob you left and right. And charge us 1% tvwahd assessment fee. Don't you think this is a restaurant expense not a customer expense then do we have to help restaurant to pay for their property tax as well? And we are forced to pay 20% service charge is mandatory.. we were not happy with service and food. Mainly this restaurant is not honest and no transparency for the price. First, the view from the patio is fantastic! The service is always excellent. Weekends are always crowded. During the week, it is fairly easy to get seated. 1 hour + 15 min wait for a table + 30 min wait for food. Server inattentive except to check our ID's after already having a round of frozen drinks at the bar. No bread or anything for the table even though we were starving after waiting almost 2 hours to eat. Gaspar's is a beautiful restaurant in the Altisima Winery, overlooking the Temecula wine country. My husband and I had the Catalan Gambas, Patatas Bravas, Calamares Fritos, Altisima's Seasonal Salad, and the Gaspar's Steak. We also has sangria and wine. The food and drinks were amazing. The ambiance was romantic and beautiful. The only reason I give this place four stars, is because the server was very inattentive. We sat for about 20 minutes before she got our drink orders and said hello. We had to flag her down multiple times for our orders. The other server near us was extremely attentive to her tables, so I think it was just a fluke. Maybe our waitress was just having a bad day. Either way, the food was worth the wait. read more

Very disappointing... I called and attempted to make a reservation a week ago, and informed the man I spoke to that I would be celebrating my wife's birthday this Saturday (tonight). I was told that reservations could only be made for parties of 6 or more, but that a reservation wouldn't be necessary anyway. No matter. My wife and I arrive, ready to have a nice night, and I was told the wait was ONE HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE MINUTES! And that we may not even be seated after we waited because the restaurant closes at 5pm. Beautiful restaurant in an equally beautiful winery. A true find, with great food, service and view. It's worth driving a little off the beaten path. In addition to main entrees, they have great sandwiches, salads and a variety of tapas appetizers. Celebrating a friend's birthday, so we were served a terrific complimentary plate of churros. The moment we walked in they asked us if we were part of the wine club. We said no and asked if it made a difference and the hostess said "only for your non existent discount" or something to that effect. The view was beautiful and the ambiance pleasant. Our server Emily, I believe, was an absolute sweetheart. The food was awesome. We started with the charcuterie board and the cheese selection was awesome. The crostinis are a bit too hard but the jam made up for it. Not the most balanced board (we had to order additional crostinis), but still nice. We also had the seasonal salad to share and it was lovely. I got the California chicken sandwich and truffle fries -- 10/10. My husband got a salmon sandwich and it was delicious. I would give this place a 5 on the account of the food but the initial abrasive interaction with the hostesses just rubbed me the wrong way. There is a better way to go about asking. read more

Let me start by saying Laura is an exceptional manager. We dined at Gaspar's Restaurant last Saturday with my in-laws. It was my wife's birthday and we had made plans to enjoy Altisima months in advance but because we weren't members we could not make reservations. There was a long wait and my mother-in-law is handicapped. We looked for seating on the lawn to take in the breathtaking view and enjoy some wine but there wasn't enough seating for our group of five. Laura came to the rescue and to make a long story short, we were fully accommodated. Her grace and professionalism made the entire night a wonderful celebratory occasion. Gaspar, your manager gets it and for that reason alone we will not hesitate to return. read more

Food was excellent. Staff and waiter were extremely friendly and the view is absolutely gorgeous.

I've been here several times and always bring people from out of town here - love the ambience, food and experience. Today was the total opposite- we had terrible service from the start to the end. I had to ask 2 different people to call our server before he arrived at our table - 15 min after sitting down. We ordered a bottle of sparkling wine - our food arrived before the bottle. When I mentioned this he said "the bar is busy". Never mind the people next to us who were seated after us got their sangria cocktails within 5 min of ordering. I asked for honey for my coffee- I was given honeycomb which was yuk and I was charged for this. This is a tiny bit of what happened. read more
