First and foremost, this is a new location of Galvin's. It's still on Main Street, but a bit more inconspicuous than the other location. We arrived at about 11:30 on a Saturday and were the only ones there for quite a bit. I hate that people may not know about this gem! I never visited the old location, but after reading the old reviews, the new and revamped Galvin's obviously isn't the same. The restaurant itself is huge, modern and clean. There is a spot near the entrance to host a small group dinner and in the back, I noticed a banquet like room. Seems like a perfect place for a Yelp event. (Note to owners: hit me up and I'll get something planned) The menu was right up my alley. Pizza, 1/2 pound burgers, sandwiches (almost all available in wrap form), salads, Americanized appetizers, and more. I was so torn and what to order and our amazing waitress gave us suggestions. We started with an order of jalapeno poppers. They weren't your average poppers and actually unlike any that I've ever had. They were each halved egg rolls, stuffed with pieces of jalapenos and melted mozzarella and topped with shredded cheddar (I think) cheese. As my meal, I went with a fried chicken salad. They aren't stingy on their portions either. It must've had a half order of chicken tenders on it! The lettuce was fresh and tossed with tomato, shredded cheese, croutons, and hard boiled egg. Not to forget to mention that the ranch was delicious too! The strombolis and Philly sandwiches are offered in regular and large sized. My husband got the large Philly steak sandwich and it was literally one of the biggest sandwiches that I've ever seen. I didn't try it, but he raved about it. It also came with homemade chips, which I did try. They were excellent! Usually, I'm not a fan, but these obviously didn't come from a bag. I think I found my favorite spot in Georgetown! read more

Just moved to Georgetown. Get a "welcome to Georgetown" mailer with a few coupons to local restaurants. Says it was printed in November and is good for 90 days. So the family decides to head to Galvins to check out this local business. No "new to Georgetown coupons" allowed, says the sign on the door. Interesting decision by management that I got a coupon in the mail just a few days ago and you are denying it, therefore losing a customer in the process. This locally owned one of a kind restaurant has a very enjoyable atmosphere wether you're watching the game in their very nice bar area or out for dinner with the family; you truly get the spirit of small town Kentucky when you're there. The waitresses showed excellent service and were very friendly. The food was perfect. The burger was thoroughly cooked but still juicy. The fries were also cooked perfectly, being at just the right crispness to where they were neither burnt nor soggy or greasy. Everything was very fairly priced which makes it easy to become a repeat customer. I wrote a review a while back expressing a few concerns I had and in the time since then the few problems I had have been completely erased. Definitely going to be coming here much more often. I will be recommending this place to anyone and everyone who comes to Georgetown. read more

We visited Galvin's on Main on a Friday night with a party of 8. We were told the wait would be 30 minutes and we could walk around and they would text us. We were headed back toward the restaurant when we received the text and my husband ran the block back. They had already seated someone at our table. So, we waited another 40 plus minutes. The food was okay, but I was quite disappointing with my fried chicken salad and my kids's cheese quesadilla. The food is alright, but simply not great. I've been here a couple of occasions for lunch during the weekdays. I've gone with a couple of their sandwich options, the pulled pork cheese steak and the Pittsburgh style Pastrami. I'm a big fan of their Pastrami. It was incredibly filling yet tasted light at the same time. The coleslaw had a nice flavor and melded while with the fries. The pulled pork cheese stake seems like it will be larger, but is a bit smaller than the standard sandwiches. Overall I thought the pulled pork had too sweet of the sauce. I'd go back to the pastrami for lunch. If I have more time, I'd be tempted to try their pizzas as they smell great in store. read more

This by far is my favorite place to eat and hangout in Georgetown and it has been for years. The prices are fair. The drink selection is great with rotating taps and good bourbon selections. The food selection has gotten dated over the years but that's ok because I usually get the same thing anyway. Their pizza is AMAZING as well as the Calzones. Funny thing is I didn't try their pizza until a few days ago and was sad that I waited so long - bc that's how good it was. Simply the best locally owned neighborhood grill and bar in town. They have a wonderful selection of domestic and craft beer. The jalapeño poppers are a must when eating here. We love their pizza, calzones and their club sandwich. They have utilized bourbon barrel accents through the entire restaurant giving it a laid back comfortable feel but with tasteful elegance. This is a local establishment in a nice small town business district. They have a large space that could accommodate a large group. The menu is standard American fare with pizzas, sandwiches and burgers. I had the burger and tried a slice of pizza. The food was not bad and most will find it to their liking. There was room for bolder flavor and seasoning. The service was pretty good but we did wait for a bit longer than expected for the food to come out. I was so excited to see this cute hipster restaurant in the heart of Georgetown. I think when we went, it was sooo busy. It probably would have been better to sit at the bar. But instead we sat a booth. Downfall was it was noisy and hard to hear each other speak. Positive, I mean big positive was that the pretzel and beer cheese was fabulous. I mean so fabulous that I was in awe. I wish I could make that delightful piece of goodness by hand.... hmmmm... maybe I would ave a husband if I learn to make it... I digress, then to the main course: I ordered the steak salad. I do not recommend this. The steak did not look like normal grilled steak. I ended up eating just the lettuce. I think I probably just ordered the wrong thing, because I have heard nothing but great things from my family members about this location. I have been a patron of Galvin's for years and have yet to be disappointed. The staff is friendly just the right amount. Curious about you, but not intrusive. The food is pallet pleasing and the portions are above and beyond expectations. I go there when I'm happy and I go there when I'm sad. The best time to go is when you feel 'meh' cause you are guaranteed to leave with a smile and hopefully a peppermint patty out of the peppermint patty vending machine. The new joint is trendy and rustic with music that is toe tapping. I enjoy most the banter of the staff and quips of the cook. When I think about home I first conjure up images of my actual home...it's a nice 4 bedroom/3 bath....but then I think about getting in my car and driving to a place where a couple of people know my name (not everyone...maybe 2) and a rush of peace washes over me. My only request is for fish tacos. I don't think that too much to ask. read more

Chose to pick/up Reuben and take it back to Hotel. Good service, and friendly. $2.00 draft beer, while waiting. Quick take out at at the bar. Portion- Reuben was great, not too oily, but moist and meat was tender with perfect portion of sauerkraut. The bread tasted freshly baked, and went perfectly with the sandwich. I added the onion rings, and they were a larger portion, perfectly prepared. This was a Thursday that I was here, and they were getting packed by 6:00 p m. Will try Muffuletta if I get another opportunity to eat at Galvin's. read more

We had lunch at Galvins on an April Friday while visiting Georgetown. Obviously a very popular place as it filled quickly. The spacious open sports bar concept suits the big portions of very good food that is served. I had a bbq chicken sandwich and green beans side. My spouse had a huge chicken salad. I had a bartender that was rather demeaning one day picking up a to go order. However the place is a local trendy hangout with mounted TV screens and a bar, which makes for a decent place for sport nights. I saw some minor food handling issues which could be corrected with a quick retraining. With a few tweaks this establishment could gain another star or two. It has potential for sure. read more

It's sports bar food, but better tasting and fresher then your typical sports bar. It has a sports bar atmosphere and feel. The location is downtown and convenient. Cons: service can be slow. This place is one of the few unique, good places to eat in little Georgetown, Kentucky. Similar food options consist Applebees, O'Charleys, or other fast food chains without originality. It has little competition, yet I think it would still win my heart with its small-town charm, great clean atmosphere, and delicious food. I personally enjoy the calzone or pizza (white to be exact) and the buffalo chicken salad is also pretty amazing. This is a great place to go to meet up with friends, go on a date, hang out with family, or watch a big game on tv. Although the parking lot is relatively small so many people park around the block or on the street, that is never really much of an issue, and the fact that it is so cutely situated downtown next to the city's courthouse adds to its charm. They have a fairly good selection of beer and have pint nights one Thursday per month! During the summer, it hosted "Tastes of Georgetown" where local vineyards and restaurants gave out test taste tickets and there was a live band. This spot has been bought and sold many times, but I hope Galvin's is here to stay! read more

No bad issues or anything negative, I mean, maybe like 3 feet to their pickup door in the back it kind of smells like straight cigarette, but that's about it.
