Wow. First time there and while I do recommend it with a cavet. Atmosphere, food , were good, the service how ever was disappointing. Staff paying more attention to what appeared to be their friends at the bar instead of waiting on customers. service ! The appetizers were remarkable, the Beer Cheese and Boneless Chicken Bites (there version of chicken wings I guess) were hot and fully cooked. The Hot Brown, a classic dish is served with Kentucky Mornay. It was probably one of the best in the state that I have had. The Pizza was better than most places that serve only pizza, a New York style thin crust pizza with a delight. All in all food is great, but the service kills this review. Staff seemed more concerned with socializing than serving customers. Hopefully this will improve in the future.

I love when a local restaurant serves food that can rival chains, and G&G did just that! My friend and I ordered appetizers (delicious) then she had lasagna (looked amazing!) and I ordered a pizza. Yep a pizza. I had seen previous reviews mentioning it and had to try. It did not disappoint; brought out big fresh and hot (enough for 3-4 people so plan on bringing home a box full if its just you...leftovers!) I would give it 5 stars however we were there much longer than we hoped because either the food took awhile or the server took awhile

One of my best sister-friends chose The Goose and Gander to celebrate her birthday. It was a warmer day, and we sat on the patio. Our server was great; efficient and entertaining! We ordered a bottle of red blend wine to share, along with our individual meals. I chose the Black and Bleu salad, another sister-friend had the Caesar salad, and the birthday girl ordered a Spinach salad. Everything was delicious and filling, plus we enjoyed the company! Dessert of caramel cheesecake was split between us, and was delicious! Definitely want to return, next time with my husband.

Stopped here for lunch on a recommendation from some locals. We were told while in town we must try a "Hot Brown". Being from Wisconsin we had no idea what this was so we thought we'd go seek it out. It was a gorgeous day so we decided to sit outside. The building appears to be quite old and cozy on the inside like you're walking into another time. The outdoor space is really beautiful and quaint. Our waiter was great super knowledgeable and explained to us what a hot brown was. My boyfriend decided to get the hot brown and I decided to get the wedge salad. We started out with trying the Beer cheese appetizer which was amazing. My salad was quite delicious but simple. My boyfriend really enjoyed the hot brown. If you are passing by this cute little town stop by for lunch!

    Pizza was delicious.

Great find as we are visiting bourbon distilleries here in Kentucky and look for local restaurants, cafe's, pub's, to enjoy local favorites for lunch and dinner. Their homemade pepperoni pizza, added sweet peppers, is outstanding. Our server CC on the patio is very friendly and has checked with us several times. Jeremy the bartender stopped by our table to ask me if my bourbon and ginger ale was ok. It was! Pleasant experience on Main Street in Midway, Ky.

Pizza and atmosphere were really good. Service started OK but took a turn for the worse and it took over 25 minutes to get our check.

Food was just alright, definitely going to give it another try. They were very busy with a small staff, so that could have been the issue.

The chicken breast itself was exceptionally large, tender, and juicy perfectly fried the Nashville sauce on it was hot, but not too hot you know what I mean and the coleslaw wasn't runny and have too much mayonnaise. It was just a really good solid cold coleslaw. The brioche bun was excellent. My wife's Cuban sandwich was amazing and my mother-in-law's hamburger was very good as well. The only thing I will say is that the service from the young man that we had was just average. It took us a lot of effort, joking around with him, asking his suggestions and recommendations to get him to even smile I would suggest that he acts like he wants to be working and not come across to his customers like we're a bother to him. If that wouldn't have been the case, this would've been a 5+ star review.

There was no parking in their parking lot, so we had to drive down the hill and try our luck with street parking, then walk back up about 5-7 minutes to get into the restaurant. A bit of a pain, especially since the restaurant was only about 50% full. The host or person at the front desk was hiding - sitting on the floor on his phone. We had to lean over the counter to ask him to get up so we could ask him to seat us. He ended up being our server as well, after he literally argued with a coworker who walked up while we were inquiring about a table. "I just took the last two damn tables, isn't it your turn?" doesn't inspire confidence that you're a welcome guest. I ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown. When in Rome, right? The menu says you can get it with Mornay sauce or Kentucky Hot Brown sauce. I asked the waiter which was better - he said the Hot Brown sauce. Sounds great! It came out with the mornay sauce. It was still good, but I was a wee bit disappointed. My companions enjoyed their meals. I picked up a reasonably priced bottle of Sazerac Rye on the way out, since they didn't have any left at the distillery when I was there earlier in the visit.

I ordered the burger without the bun or fries, and it was so overly salty that I struggled to finish it. My wife had the CACIO de PEPE, which tasted quite different from what we're used to, and the pasta was overcooked for our liking. My brother-in-law ordered the fish tacos, which were easily the standout dish at the table. My sister's chicken cesar salad was decent but nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant itself feels a bit unexpected for a rural setting, which may help explain its strong ratings. For me, though, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again--more of a "fine if someone else suggests it" kind of spot.

The atmosphere is super cozy and we felt welcomed from our first steps in. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and we met Michaela who took fabulous care of us for the evening! We settled in to a couple of their specialty cocktails (midwinters night dream and cardamaro manhattans - yummy I'll say) and the Brussel Sprout starter. Let me say to come hungry because the portions are large but yummy. The sprouts are a meal all by themselves! But there's more! I had the porcini rubbed filet and Teresa had the cabbage confit. Both portions were sizable and while I know she loved her cabbage, I was in heaven with a perfectly prepared filet that just melted in my mouth. Plus the asparagus spears and the Okinawa sweet potato mash were perfect accompaniment! Sadly, there was so much goodness we ended up bringing some home and we'll have to come back for dessert and another menu sampling. All in all a very memorable experience and a great place for a birthday dinner! But we'll be back just because! Special closing shout out to Michaela for taking such great care of us.
