This is our 2nd time visiting this location after Keenland horse races. It just so happened that the Milwaukee Brewers were in the playoff and we were with 2 big Brewer fans. So I called the restaurant and asked if they had the game on; the staff member that answered quickly found the manager and said yes we can put it on for you. Bingo! We stopped in and it was a beautiful day so we asked if we could sit outside sitting - definitely and they put the game on out there as well. Lucas was out waiter and he and the manager ( I believe Mike was his name ) would banter back and forth jokingly; which made for more fun. They also place us by an outdoor propane heater just in case. Three of us had Burgers and 1 had a salad. 2 burgers were 1/4 lb and looked like it after cooking; they were tasty. I have the dbl a 1/2 lb also delicious. The brew selections were decent. The game wasn't going our way but we watched to the end enjoying brews and food. The sun went down quickly and they bought another propane tall heater. The first one didn't ignite ( out of gas ) 2nd one out of gas ( apparently someone did shut off the valve but the owner appeared and got a new tank of propane and got it lit. I can't say I've been to a place with so much customer service in a long time. Service was great, food is very good a good sides. Drinks were decent selection and atmosphere was perfect. I know I will be back but I hope sooner than later. This place is in an old strip mall; looks like an abandoned Kroger and possibly a vacant Hope Depot ( that's under discussion still ) I think they have been open about 7 years now and both our visits were awesome in all ways. If you're in Versailles or at Keenland save your appetite and money to eat here instead. You money will go further and your taste buds will appreciate the better food choices and taste! Went here as part of a large group, 20-25 people on a Wednesday night. They sat us at several tables lined up along one side of the bar. Trivia was on the other side, which was good because the trivia music didn't drown out our conversations. Our folks arrived at staggered times so the staff was able to get drinks going a few at a time. They were friendly and did a good job serving us all but could've used another server. I had a Reuben sandwich and a baked potato. The potato was easily 1-1.25 lbs, huge! Cooked perfectly. The Reuben was really good. Others in our party had burgers, pretzels, wings, sandwiches, and pizza. Everyone I asked really liked their food, except the pizza. It was rated "just ok". The two beers I had were theirs and were good, an Oktoberfest and an Oatmeal Stout. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Inside in your typical brewery look. Decent place for beers and food. Recommend Rock Castle Common if you like a bourbon finish. Not overpowering. Stopped in with the family and really enjoyed it! Order the triple crown meat pizza because it had country ham on it and wanted to experience something different and it did not disappoint. It was pretty damn good. Order the Rock Castle Common Bourbon Barrel aged beer and it was good. The family was all happy with their orders. Service was a touch slow, but our waitress was a bit overwhelmed due to a large party. However, she did a good job all things considered and if I lived in the area I would most certainly be back! What an incredibly awful experience. We went on a slow Saturday afternoon (less than 20 patrons) expecting at least mid-level service, beer and food. Staff: The service was terrible, none of the staff had an hustle, multiple tables were desperately trying to find their server for refills and checks. Despite not being very busy, our waitress rarely checked on us, our drink flights sat on the bar waiting to be delivered for more than 10 minutes, and our appetizer took at least 15 minutes to arrive despite ordering it upon sitting down. Our food didn't arrive until an hour and 20 minutes after we sat down (we had to find and flag down our waitress to ask to order), we had to flag down our server twice for a status. We asked for additional drinks that were never brought, and when the food did arrive was barely warm and half was scalding so our child couldn't eat it. Food: the food was absolutely nothing to write home about. It was all very bland, barely warm, or scalding. We ordered tacos and fries, and separate fried for our son. Our order was brought out and had clearly been sitting under heat lamp and was luke warm and our child's fries were "forgotten" and "on their way". When they finally came out the were scalding and we would have needed to wait quite a while to even eat them. We saw no manager or leadership on the floor the entire 90 minutes we were stuck there. We weren't offered anything except mild "apologies" and forced "sorry" for waiting forever. We will not be back and will actively discourage others we know from visiting here. read more

We were directed to a booth where we were not asked if we wanted a table The waiter was kind and was helpful in ordering tastes of their beer. A great local spot! I'm from Versailles and it's nice to see they have a great spot for good beer and food that's local. I've been a couple times but went again recently and was really pleased. I had the cold brew common and was blown away-- a delicious coffee beer that was light and refreshing. Also had the cowboy burger with mac n cheese-- every bite was gone. Full of flavor and filling! Had to talk to three different people to find someone who was knowledgeable. I am giving the benefit of the doubt here, as people are finding it hard to keep staff. The beer is meh for a craft brewery. Probably a bit more so, since there are some really nice places in Lexington, which is pretty damned close to Versailles. The food was fairly standard bar food. Tenders were still moist and hot. Green beans from a can with some seasoning added. Mac & Cheese average. Seeing some other reviews, I realize tastes vary. For what it is, I would still say average. The bar is a standard sports bar. Plenty of televisions. This place has kind of a hidden feel to it. The place is very clean, and the sound level is average. It provde a excellent escape from the every day fast food franchise type resteranut. The Pretzel and beer cheese are the best around Lexington/Versallies area. The fellow patrons and the staff are super friendly, The brewery offer many excellent choices. The steak is non hormone and free from antibiotics and was cooked to a perfect medium rare. I had the fries and Macn cheese. The Mac is always a issue in restruants as not being prepared just right. This was a perfect Al Dente and the sause was of the right balance of consitency between being to runny and to thick. They have a wide variety of dessert options, I perfer th Porter Chochlate cake, but they have so many good options it is hard to decided. This has to be on the stop list when passing thru. read more

VBC is yet another local microbrewery and restaurant. The upside is that it has wonderful people, serves very good food, and offers a diversity of very good brews. Ask and you may even be able to take a tour of the brewery. Housed in an old shopping center, there's plenty of parking for the spacious dining area. The online menu doesn't list it, but the Patty Melt (if available) is excellent. So are the quesadillas and salads. Brew selection may vary by season and by whatever the brewmaster has available on tap at the moment. The porter is a delightful meal of its own, but you're sure to find something enjoyable. read more

I do want to point out that they hadn't begun in house brewing when I visited and they contracted out their stuff, so the name was a bit of a misnomer. They do however have their own branded beers on tap as well as a bunch of others from the area. I tried their house blonde, which was pretty good, and worth a try. I really do want to highlight their food though. I had the sweet tea brined chicken and it was probably the best thing I ate my entire trip down. Sweet, but not overpoweringly so, crispy but not greasy. Truly love going to this restaurant. Beer is cold! Atmosphere is laid back (never been at night). A must stop and try their food. Love their tacos. The best is the Alaskan fish, followed by fried chicken and carne Asada. Make sure to ask for hot sauce if you prefer more of a kick. The fried chicken Nashville sandwich is always good! Three stars may be generous. My wife and I ate here 2 years ago and it was great. This time not so much. We ordered the southwest chicken tacos and a side salad to split. The tacos were actually pretty good but the hand made chips that came with them were cold and flavorless. We had to ask twice for ranch. The salad was just nasty. Literally all of the lettuce was browning. There may be a shortage of help but that's no excuse for poor quality food. We won't be back. read more

Located in a former strip mall in Versailles across from Kroger. We were here at around 1:30 pm 11/11/2023. Ambiance is great. It's well decorated inside and very spacious! The whole restaurant has tons of tvs all around it broadcasting the UK game. The place has a ton of seating. We were seated promptly by a friendly hostess and a waitress took our drink orders quickly after we sat down. My husband ordered an old fashioned with Buffalo Trace and he said it was awesome; it definitely looked good and it came out in less than 5 minutes after ordering. They have a great selection of regional/local bourbons/whiskey and craft beers. As for food, we chose the ribeyes (one cooked to medium well and the other medium). They were both cooked perfectly. I'm thinking they may sous vide their steak considering how quickly they came out after we ordered. They definitely marinate the steaks in a salty marinade that almost tastes like a beef bouillon marinade or something similar. My only real complaint is the steaks aren't grilled; they are cooked on a griddle/flat top surface and I think being grilled would GREATLY improve them. For sides, we both got baked potatoes which were good. Can't mess up baked potatoes. The green beans were pretty bland. They definitely need to slow cook them with some jowl bacon or ham and seasoning to punch up the flavor, but adding salt and pepper did help. The French fries are really good, crispy, and seasoned well. The beer cheese dip and pretzel was awesome! My husband loved the beer cheese and said he thinks it's actually better than the famed beer cheese dip and pretzel that Goodwood in Frankfort serves...which says a lot! All in all, this is a solid choice if you're wanting to enjoy some drinks with friends and watch the game as there are a ton of TVs in this place! The food is typical bar fare. Not top notch, but good. I'd like to try the steak again if they'd switch to grilling it instead of using a blackstone/griddle or whatever it is they used. I feel like grilling just gives a better texture/flavor especially if they are using the sous vide method. That said, my husband loved his ribeye, so maybe it's just me that found the cooking method a bit off putting as I prefer a grilled steak. For you out of towners, it's pronounced Ver-sales. I know the spelling suggests a different pronunciation you learned in geography or French class but, hey, you are in Kentucky! This place has been open a few years and has some of the best food in Versailles. I know your thinking bar food, but you can find everything from appetizers, burgers, and tacos to New York Strip and Salmon entrees. On this trip I had the Stinger Burger and onion rings while my wife tried the Cod sammie and fries. My burger was cooked to temperature and consists of a blackened burger topped with bleu cheese crumbles, bacon, spring mix, pickle, tomato and a spicy mayo on a brioche bun. One of the best burgers I have had in a long time! The onion rings were plentiful and cooked to a crispy perfection. My wife said her VBC fish sandwich was excellent as well. Fried Cod that swam through the garden and was served with a side of tartar sauce. The fries were freshly cut and fried to a golden brown. This place offers their own selection of house brews along with guest taps and even Bud Light, Miller Lite and (gag) Mich Ultra, so you don't have to be a craft beer snob to enjoy the great food and atmosphere at VBC. read more
