Ran in to check out this place and it's quite pretty with their wood bar. There were lots of beer options and we were super excited to try the gingerbread beer! Unfortunately they didn't have growlers and weren't able to fill mine. Ended up getting a can of the hefeweizen, it was very malt forward and just not my favorite. The pizzas seem pretty solid, they make them fresh so they come out fresh and hot. On a particular Saturday, we had friends up from Huntsville, and as always, a tour of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail was a must. After leaving yet another distillery, the ladies in our group wanted to head to Georgetown for some shopping. The other guy in our party was about as thrilled at the idea of shopping as he'd be about getting a root canal without anesthesia--and I was in full agreement. As we searched for a parking spot along the crowded Georgetown Main Street, I spotted Chinquapin Brewing and immediately declared that the men would be there. "Just come pick us up when you're done," I told them. My wife and our friend were more than happy to leave us in front of TVs and beer while they wandered in and out of the local shops. It was the first time either of us had been to the brewery. Right away, I loved seeing the brewing equipment set up in the back of the bar. We scanned the QR code on the table and pulled up the beer menu. I'm a big fan of red ales and was happy to see one offered. My friend is less adventurous than I am, so he stuck with his tried-and-true Guinness. I opened a tab, and we started enjoying our beers. The red ale was very good--so good that I ordered more than one. My friend's Guinness was going down way too easily, and he ordered another as well. Eventually, the ladies came to retrieve us, and my wife even added a bourbon to my tab. We sat together and enjoyed one last round. We didn't try any food, but the beer and the service were excellent. I'm already looking forward to our next "shopping trip" to Georgetown so I can sample more of their offerings. read more

What a great place. Sat at the bar and honestly just felt like home. Bartender's were great and rarely do you see the owner of the place cleaning glasses! Had the Brooklyn pizza and being from Philly I gotta say was the top 3 brick oven pizza I've ever ate! Sat near a couple locals who were very cool as well. We came in during a very busy time, I'm sure the wait for a table would have been hours, this place is huge! But luckily there were 2 seats at the bar! Service was great, I got the chicken tenders and my husband got a burger. His burger was good, but the sweet potato fries were super cold and the dipping sauce was absolutely disgusting, not sure what it was made of. The chicken wings are awesome! We had naked (delicious and crispy) and Buffalo (excellent heat level). They are really meaty wings and cooked perfectly! The nice pour of ice cold Cougar Bait was an excellent beer to go with the wings. I will be back often! I'll try their wood fired pizza next time to go with the epic wings. read more

We were visiting Georgetown for a wedding and stumbled upon this awesome brewery. We were greeted by the friendliest bartender and she gave us a lot of useful information about the brewery and various drinks on tap. They have 3 home taps and the others are features from local breweries including Country Boy. I loved the Peach cider the most! Noticing the open concept kitchen with wood fire oven, we ordered a pretzel and some pizzas. The pretzel was salty and crunchy on the outside while not dry at all on the inside. The pizzas were so flavorful and the crust gives you that wood grilled taste which I love. The pizza actually reminded me of some of the pizza we ate in Italy, delicious! There are lounge chairs in the front, plenty of seating at the bar, and tables in the middle. There truly is something for everyone at this brewery and I would definitely recommend on your next trip to Kentucky! read more

A friend and I went for a late dinner at Chinkapin Brewing last week during the Festival of the Horse in Georgetown. I was immediately impressed the second I walked in the door. I loved the atmosphere, and the thought they put into decorating the place the way they did. They have high top tables, normal 4 person tables, and a cozy couch up front! Although all the beer and mixed drinks we saw looked amazing, we just went to get a meal this time! The pizza is truly to die for. If you're a wood fire oven pizza person then this place has your name all over it. I recommend you and your friends getting different pizzas and sharing so you can try more things! The staff was incredibly kind and I believe I might have spoke with the gentleman that owned it. He was also very friendly to us! I wish I would have taken more pictures than this to share more of the experience, but trust me when I say it's a place you definitely want to try when you're in Georgetown! P.S. When our pizza arrived, there was no spinach, one mushroom, one tomato slice and one banana pepper chip per slice. Never experienced such skimpy toppings on a pizza. The crust, however, was perfect. The newly opened Chinkapin brewery is a cute little hang out that's a great addition to the city's nightlife. From the German beer stein collection to the fancy Olhausen pool table, the warm hard wood floors just welcome anyone lucky enough to stroll in. If you find yourself thirsty for a pour and hungry for a slice, take a risk you thrill seeker, stop in - I know you won't be disappointed. Upon arrival you'll be greeted by one of the many smiling faces that tend to what seems like a never ending bar. TV's front and center for those sports watching chaps and always great conversation for chatty types and of course some great music for those artistic minds. A great selection of ice cold brews from ipas to domestic and a healthy selection of whiskeys and bourbons that's sure to expand. Hit or miss. I like the pizza sometimes, I like the craft beer, but the service is as inconsistent as the pizza. More than half of the bartenders, especially when the place is empty, completely abandon you. Today, for instance, I was one of two people at the bar, and I waited 17 minutes for the bartender to acknowledge that I had an empty glass. Bartender was absorbed in conversation with the only other patron. Never looked over at me until I got bored and tried to make eye contact. I'd planned on ordering food and sticking around for a bit, but I ended up cashing out prematurely. This is the norm there, and it doesn't matter the day or time, or who is waiting on you. As far as the food goes, it really depends on who is making it. I order the same thing most of the time, and the pizza is all over the place. Sometimes it's way too doughy, sometimes it's overly crispy. Sometimes is drenched in hot sauce and other times there's none. This is all for the same pizza order. I never know what I'm getting. Don't not go, but temper your expectations. read more
