Bourbon on Main was a five star experience from start to finish! We stopped in for lunch on a weekday and they were quite busy, it's usually pretty quiet at downtown type places during the week. We figured out why they were so busy, they're amazing! Our server was the sweetest gal, handling everything herself from orders to bartending to serving and clearing tables, she never missed a beat. We're in bourbon country so of course ordered the Old Fashioned and the Manhattan, both were superb and came out quickly. We expected to wait just a bit for our meals but happily they came out quickly as well. Hubby's hot chicken sandwich was amazing with just the right amount of heat and condiments. I felt so lucky to get gluten free chicken tenders, I had very little expectations, I was just so happy to see them! They were phenomenal! If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back and I highly recommend them to anybody looking for a 5 star stop in downtown Frankfort. read more

service was terrible the waitress did not explain the menu, I asked for chicken with salad I got a chicken sandwich which was not what I asked for. she was to young and flirtatious with staff possibly under the influence of something. when I said that is not what I order no one from management show any concern. I removed the bread ate the chicken there was a side salad but it tastes like the leaves from the tree out side. We ate there last Friday for lunch-party of 4. We waited almost 45minutes for our lunch to come out. Our fish/chips-the fish was completely overdone but the fries were amazing. WAY too many fries even for 2 people to share. Then we waited another 10minutes to get extra plates to split food. Then we waited another 15minutes for check and never got boxes for the leftovers that we asked for 30min prior. It was our first time there and we were underwhelmed. Nice outdoor seating on the river though. May try it again later when they have additional staff...I think the kitchen and waitstaff were a little short that day. read more

I really hate to leave bad reviews, but I find it hard to like this restaurant. I must admit, first and foremost, that we didn't eat there. When we got there, they took us upstairs to a table. I had looked at their website ahead of time and saw they had beer but only in cans and bottles because there was a flood earlier this year that demolished their draft system. It said they were trying to get it back...whatever that means. The flood occurred in April of this year. The restaurant looked very much intact and no damage. It seems unrealistic that it would take more than seven months to put a draft system back in a restaurant. But, I digress. I asked what beers they had, and they had six or less and nothing out of the ordinary...Coors and Miller were two of the beers they carry. We had a chance to look at the menu before our waitress came to tell us about their beers, and the choices were very sparse. After hearing the lack of beer selections, we apologized and left. We went across the way to The Brown Barrel and so glad we did. FYI, just in case you decide to try this restaurant, parking is a bit tricky. There is a public parking lot about two blocks away, and there is a sign in front of the restaurant stating parking is under the bridge. There wasn't anything unique about the inside of the restaurant. When you walk in, the bar is to the left, but it remains unused. I am assuming that is still due to the flood back in April. A group of three of us went to Bourbon on Main for dinner as we were staying in Frankfort for a few nights hitting some of the close distilleries on the Bourbon Trail. We were seated quite promptly as we did have a reservation and though not all tables were full, there seemed to be a few parties waiting outside. We expected that they were likely short staffed and it seemed to be the case as it took some time for any wait staff to get to us. The bourbon pours were quite overpriced in my opinion and given the relatively straight forward ambiance of a general restaurant, didn't seem to have a strong bourbon theme other than the name. We got general burgers/sandwiches for our meal and it was not great, but not terrible overall. Service was slow and very basic just taking the order and bringing it to us. What really made us feel great that in two different distilleries when asked where we ate - unprompted - two different individuals at Buffalo Trace and one at a smaller distillery I won't name as they have a small staff said to stay away from Bourbon on Main. While there aren't a ton of choices for restaurants in the Frankfort area, I think you may want to try a different location. While I also didn't rate it highly - eating at Goodwood next door had better ambiance and food - though still seemingly short staffed. read more

It was just OK for me. The bar area seems pretty cool. Bartenders were welcoming upon entering the restaurant. We ate on the outdoor patio overlooking the river. The view wasn't spectacular. The water tasted funny to me. My husband said it was fine so not sure what that was about. The service was a bit slow but our waitress was really a sweet young lady. I know they had flooding in the basement but that was not the issue. We wanted a vintage bourbon style restraint experience. We were seated at what looked like old McDonald tabled with no view. Two tables of 10 that came in after us were served before us, are and left. We sat for 1hr 15 min before our food was out. Just hamburger and chicken strips. Nothing to write home about. We rolled in on a Sunday with a party of 10 and she deftly handled our party with grace, efficiency and charm that left our bellies full and smiles on our faces when we said our fair well to BOM. The OFC burger was perfectly prepared and well executed with a brioche bun and American cheese. The side of fries was moderately seasoned with seasoned salt and pepper that just paired so well with the burger(s). Our glasses were never empty, the ladies said the Prosecco was delightful and requests for additional condiments was rapidly executed. Also, do not miss their rear deck / patio for a terrific view of the river and smoke outdoor seating. Stopped at this place to have dinner. Husband ordered a burger and fries. I asked the waitress would she get the burger or the fish and chips. She said right away the fish. Said it was the top selling thing on the menu. Our dinner came and what I got was chips (fries) with a side of fish. Fries covered the whole plate and one little piece of Very over cooked fish. And the fries were too. And, not too hot, just Luke warm. So, I tried eating it and absolutely no flavor. See, that tends to happen when you over cook fries or fish. But, if I had gone with the burger, it wouldn't have been much better. Husband said the burger was tasteless. And he didn't eat his fries. CUZ THRY WERE OVER COOKED! A group of 8 us went in at noon on a Thursday, and they were kind enough to get us in without a reservation! We were glad they did. It's an old building with a cool vibe. The food was very good and the service was excellent. 3 of us got the Mahi sandwich - a good piece of fish and wonderful tartar sauce and salad topping it. The macaroni salad was also great; a light amount of dressing in that. A couple of the people in our group got the Bologna sandwich special. It was a very thick piece of meat with an egg on top. Easy to find and welcomed as soon as I walked in for lunch. I was shown to the back deck to a table overlooking the Kentucky River. It is a gorgeous view! It was hot outside. The ceiling fans helped a little, but kinda wished there was indoor dining. I had the lunch special pork belly, lettuce, tomato (BLT) with fries. It was so good and the fries were too. I had their BOM old fashioned and it was nicely crafted too. It got pretty busy at lunch so I had to find my waitress to pay my check and get back to my conference. She was polite and not a big deal. They must be having some staffing issues because the wait and service took way too long. Even just walking into the restaurant, it took almost 10 minutes to be acknowledged. That should have been the first sign for things to come. It took another 45 minutes to be seated because the bartender was the busser as well and could only get to clean tables the chances he got between making drink orders. We were there after their lunch rush. The menu is very small and they can't make any customization from what's exactly listed on there so there was nothing my son could eat because he's very picky. I don't understand how this place gets such good reviews. There are no redeeming qualities here. The fish and chips was super greasy and over fried. If we hadn't waited an hour and half to actually eat I would have sent it back but at that point I was just ready to be done. Very poorly run causing an awful experience when in town visiting and wanting to enjoy our vacation. read more

Walked in on a Wednesday afternoon and we were able to get a table immediately. The back deck is covered and the view is beautiful. The vibe is casual and fun. Staff was great! The bourbon list was extensive. Everything we had was delicious. There's a little heat in the burger but not anything extreme. Had to visit Frankfurt for some paperwork and stopped in this restaurant for lunch. The lobby was small and cute. Had 2 small tables and some lounge chairs by the bar. It seemed as though there was only one server working that day and she was extremely busy so service was slow. But she was friendly and accurate. I would say this place isn't handicapped accessible because she wanted to seat us upstairs but we had our infant stroller and didn't want the hassle of toting it up the narrow staircase. We got the buffalo chicken dip for a starter which was absolutely delicious! Not too spicy. Perfect share size for the two of us. Dad ordered the fish and chips for his entree. It was one huge piece of fish and some tasty fries and tartar sauce. His dish was tastier than my featured item, butter chicken (tiki Marsala style) while the presentation was nice for the chicken, plenty of protein, the flavor was just lacking. The sauce was super runny as opposed to the traditional thick India style. I had to add more salt than I'd like to admit to enjoy the dish and ended up finish my man's fish and chips and leaving my soupy dish right there. The chicken was very gristly and lacked flavor. The burgers were subpar. The beer cheese was plain weird. The only reason to elevate to a 2 star is the bread pudding was tasty and their aren't many options for food in the area. Service. On main server was no good and was blaming anything that went wrong in the person she was training. In reality, the person she was training was very friendly and is the only one who came back to check on us. Atmosphere. There was none.
