My recent visit didn't feature the best service (except from the hostess... she was not only best dressed, but also seemed to be running the floor!), but the biscuit platter was still fabulous! I requested figs (on another menu item), and my served said 'sorry, the kitchen is out.' Well, the kitchen had given me figs, and the figs, ham, and cheese on a biscuit... perfection. The food was surprisingly good! I ordered the French toast, which was served with pecans and cream cheese. It was incredibly soft and melted in my mouth with every bite. The cheese grits were the best I've ever had. They were packed with flavor and I could taste the different cheeses. Honestly, I think they were even better than the French toast. However, I was disappointed that they only served pork sausage and didn't have any options for chicken or turkey. It's 2026! Not everyone eats pork anymore. The only positive aspect of the service was the waitress. When my friend and I first walked in, we barely got greeted with a hello. The young lady seemed disinterested and didn't even bother to smile. As a former hostess, I know how important it is to make a good impression on your guests. Based on my initial reaction, I was ready to leave. Her energy was so bad! But once the server came, she was friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The price is kinda high but the flavor and taste of the food is worth it even better than the Castle that really charges to high for their food and doesn't taste great as the food at Honeywood. My wife and I had been here before last time we visited Lexington. This time we wanted to treat our local friends to a nice dinner, and we had a fantastic dining experience! The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy yet elegant, making it a great spot for a casual outing or a special occasion. After a very long day of travel, we stumbled across this gem of a restaurant for dinner. We were seated immediately, served water and placed drink orders. Our waitress, Leah, gave helpful menu advice and attentive service. My husband ordered the yardbird chicken and I ordered shrimp and grits. After just one bite, husband declared the chicken "best he ever had". Perfectly fried, tender and juicy. Side of collards were also delicious. My shrimp and grits were also delicious. Plentiful and plump shrimp over the creamiest grits I have ever eaten. But truly, the service really was the star of the meal. We walked in stressed, hungry, and pretty tightly wound. We started with the Deviled Eggs and Sweet Potato Beignets as our appetizers. I had the Shrimp & Grits. Honeywood was fantastic. My wife and I were so glad we found this gem tucked away in The Summit. We started with the Sweet Potato Beignets and they delivered big time. The ricotta and pepper jelly combo is something special. We also tried the Whitesburg Soup Beans and those were just as impressive. My wife ordered the chicken salad sandwich and the portion was very generous. She said it ranks among her all time favorites. I went for the Smashburger with Bacon Jam and the first bite stopped me in my tracks. Easily one of the best burgers I have ever had. Where do I even start? This place looked like it would be great, but run, don't walk, away from this place. 1. I ordered an old fashioned with Captain Morgan instead of bourbon. Something was very off about it, and my husband figured out they probably put Captain Morgan Silver instead of the ORIGINAL Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, which is what people mean when they say Captain Morgan. If you're not sure what the customer wants, you should obviously ask. 2. The steak frites was one of the saltiest dishes I've ever had. I could only eat half of it. Terrible. 3. The "parm fries," are shown on prior yelp photos as standard Parmesan fries that look really good and are part of why I ordered that. They show up with Parmesan and some white sauce all over them - not shown on the prior photos and not indicated on the menu. This was the second night in a row, at two different restaurants, in two different states, where my meal arrived with some weird mayo looking sauce that wasn't mentioned on the menu. I'm so goddang tired of restaurants thinking everyone wants mayo based sauces on everything, especially when they don't tell you. read more

I've been to Honeywood many times since it opened and have always enjoyed the food, so our dinner Friday, 9/11, was especially disappointing. We ordered the steak frites medium, as we have many times before. What we received was a well-done steak covered in an unusual sauce that made the dish resemble Salisbury steak. Three of us go out for what's supposed to be a nice dinner. The bill is about $140 before tax and tip. So, not exactly fast food. Twenty-dollar hamburgers. Fine. At that price, I'm expecting decent food and at least the vague impression that the staff is happy we showed up. Instead, we got the full "How dare you bother me?" experience. Two of us finished eating, so our server immediately cleared those plates while the third person was still eating. Nothing makes a nice dinner more enjoyable than sitting there chewing by yourself while everyone else stares at you like you missed the memo. Then came the cheesecake. The top half was cheesecake. The bottom half had the texture of Play-Doh. Not "a little dense." Play-Doh. I'm pretty sure I could've rolled it into a snake and made a tiny ashtray out of it. So I asked her to take it back and remove it from the check. Eye roll. Not a subtle one, either. The kind of eye roll usually reserved for teenagers being told to unload the dishwasher. Later, the three of us compared notes and realized this wasn't the first one. She'd rolled her eyes at us at least four times during the meal. Four. That's not an accident. That's a customer-service philosophy. It actually takes a remarkable amount of skill to make people spending $140 on dinner feel like they're inconveniencing you by being there, but she absolutely nailed it. Look, everybody has a bad day. I get it. But if I'm paying upscale prices, I'd prefer not to feel like I wandered into somebody's house uninvited, ate their food, and then had the nerve to complain that the Play-Doh cheesecake wasn't quite right. Mom's spring break, so we traveled down. I had a wife-mom lunch date on the agenda. There are quite a few places in the summit in Lexington to eat. Most of them are about what you'd expect looking in from the outside, but 9 out of every 10 times, I pick Shake Shake. This time, I decided to make a list and point to something. Honeywood was the winner. Food: App - Korean Wings. They were good, but they tasted like regular wings to me. They're listed as having gochujang, sesame seeds, and green onions. They didn't taste very gochujang to me, but they were still delicious. My mom even liked them, and she usually doesn't like any kind of spice, whether light or heavy. Prime Rib Sandwich - Another delicious entree. It came with fries and was the perfect lunch. The only change I'd make is the horseradish sauce on it. It was still good, but the sandwich doesn't need that much horseradish sauce. It overpowered everything else. Lamb Kofta Burger - My wife ordered the lamb burger. She said it was good, but like most things in America - "It's just a lottttttt" Salmon Salad - Mom went with this salad. The salmon looked good. She ordered the salmon well done, but I think it still came out medium. Not a complaint from me because everyone should eat their salmon medium. She finished it, so if it was indeed medium, she loved it. If you're picking random spots to eat, there are worse places you could go. I like Honeywood and I'd easily go back. And The Summit is so walkable that you can easily walk over to Shake Shack(as I did) afterwards to order a shake. :-) read more

I was browsing the Summit looking for a brunch spot that I haven't tried yet. I found this lovely place and based on the design, I assumed it was worth the time! Beautiful interior and kind people. My biggest issue was my wait time. I'm not sure why but I spent over 50 minutes waiting on my meal while being 1 of 4 tables being served. I was only dining with 1 other person who chose the salad. My server was kind but she was not very attentive. So much so that I had to ask for my check from the waitress at the bar after staring at my empty plate for at least 10 minutes. The last thing I ask is that if you choose to do homework or something on a personal computer, don't do it where the tables you are serving can see you! I can understand studies are important but you are working on the clock.. The food was good, my steak was cooked medium which was recommended by the chef and requested by me. It was a decent steak. Well fried on the outside, however I felt that the inside was too rare but I still enjoyed the meal. The parmesan fries were good but nothing special, almost too greasy. I have enjoyed honeywood for brunch previously so we gave it a try for dinner. Service, despite the restaurant being half full, was very very slow. It took almost 45 minutes to get our entrees after it had taken 20 minutes to get our appetizers. Appetizers were good. The oysters were flavorful and the sweet potato beignets were fantastic. My husband got the short rib which was a tough piece of meat surrounded by what felt like a LOT of butter in the grits. So much so that it was a surrounded rim of butter. I got the fried catfish which while tasted good, was about 60% batter. The shrimp and grits and smash burger were ok. We opted not to do dessert as it had already taken so long for the food. I want to give honeywood another chance but with all the new businesses in Lexington, it may take me a while to swing back around. read more
