We arrived a little early for the Yelp event so we hit the bar and had a cocktail. My wife and I attended the Yelp event tonight and it was fantastic. Mike and his staff did a great job setting up the Ballroom for our group. We got to see two of our favorites at Origin Hotel/33 Staves, Jennifer and Ruby. They are Rockstars!! We enjoyed the food. The Fried Catfish was my favorite and the Blueberry Cheesecake was phenomenal. My wife's favorite was the Fried Green Tomatoes. We took advantage of the bourbon tastings with Pinhook and Jeptha Creed. We got a caricature done by Rob Maystead with the Caricature Shop. read more

This was my first event at 33 Staves, but it certainly won't be my last! This was a Yelp Elite gathering with all the fixings and what a treat! We met the event staff, management and met the chef and ate some of her delicious food. There was a bourbon tasting and we heard about "Singbo" on Mondays, which sounds so fun! The lobby is beautiful and I can't wait to gather here with friends to enjoy an evening out at Fritz Farm. read more

Dev was our server. Very personable. The Salmon was really good. One of the better ones that I have had in ages. The restaurant was nice and quiet, but a group of 8 were seated next to us and they were quite loud. But it is a restaurant in a hotel. The only complaint I have, is we had a hard time finding the restaurant. It only had a sign on the side of the building, and google maps only brought me to the shopping center. We had attended an event here and the food was really good, so we decided to give it a try for dinner. The service was excellent; server was knowledgeable of the menu and attentive. The restaurant has large glass windows that allow you to look out. There is also a bar and a high bar area that would be great for casual group seating. And given that it is in a hotel, it is pet friendly. The drinks were good, I had a cocktail and husband an old fashioned. The food however was just so so, not bad, but other than the deserts which were delicious; the food was not good enough for us to want to return. read more

Attached to the Origins Hotel in Lexington, this is an open space restaurant that also has an intimate feel to it. Perfect for great conversation as the acoustics are quite good with plenty of sound absorbing surfaces - so I can't imagine that it would get "too loud" here. A variety of selections on the food menu with many selections and small plates for sharing, as well as entrees that are sure to satisfy. Take a look at the menu photos I've posted. I'm here for a fundraising scholarship event, and it is such an inviting place that I would certainly consider returning even to dine, even if not staying at the hotel. read more

Wanted to try something new and it didn't live up to the expectations. The atmosphere is nice, but there's no music or host stand. When you walk in, you have to wander around for a table before being seated. The cocktail menu is limited and the food wasn't great. I ordered the herb chicken and it was very overcooked and dry. I came here twice for breakfast during my trip. Breakfast during the week didn't seem too crowded and the server let me know I could have a seat wherever. I loved the aesthetics of the bar/restaurant. Wood paneling, rustic, yet modern. Be warned they don't have a huge breakfast menu, but you'll surely be able to find something if you're a breakfast fan. After looking over the menu I opted to get an egg sandwich, with an extra side of their house sauce. The sandwich came with home fries. I asked for a latte, but their machine was broke, so I got a regular coffee. The coffee was good. I tend to like a latte better, but I was really after some caffeine, so it did the trick. My egg sandwich came out later. It was beautifully prepared, with the egg, cheese, and crispy bacon. The Texas toast was buttered and toasted to perfection. The house sauce enhanced the flavor. Each bite was better than the next. The home fries were fried perfectly and tasted great. I liked the sandwich so much, I came back twice and got the same meal! read more

Gorgeous space - modern with a touch of Kentucky/bluegrass. Maybe a little too brightly lit. The bartender was friendly - would like to see a little more creativity in the cocktail menu. Food was ok but not great. First order of fries was excellent. Second order was soggy. Main dish was fine but nothing to write home about. From reading other reviews, seems like there is quite a bit of variance in food quality based on who is in the kitchen that day. Not awful for a hotel restaurant but could be better. It was odd - there were only 2 other tables occupied when we arrived but it was 15 minutes after we seated ourselves that anyone came over (we were just about to leave to find food elsewhere at the summit). We went for brunch on Saturday and the service was terrible. Menu had lattes listed, waitress was very quick to say they don't make those there. She never offered to refill our drinks. She came and cleared the table and vanished. I sat there for 10 mins waiting her to decide to come back with the check. They were not busy, restaurant was practically empty. We got there around 10 am and they seemed like they were not interested in serving people brunch and wanted to get set up for dinner. Brunch schedule was until 12 pm. I enjoy trying new restaurants in the Lexington area. Noticed this offering in the Fritz Farm area and asked our friends to join us. First of all, parking in some of the other locations in Fritz Farm can be tricky. Since 33 Staves is located in the Origin Hotel finding a parking spot was no issue. Your first impression of the restaurant makes it seem more posh and very modern with a menu offering pricy choices. Not the case. I found the atmosphere welcoming and the reception excellent. Price range on menu items were very reasonable. The food was southern comfort. I had the chicken and waffles. I actually prefer a waffle that is slightly crisp. What came on plate was somewhat of a soft waffle. No major complaints. Chicken planks were cooked perfectly with the right amount of seasoning. My wife had the Cheyenne-Bourbon Honey Bacon Grilled Cheese with fries. Excellent taste with a little bit of a spicy bite. Wait service was great, no issues. My only dislike. For a southern cuisine kitchen I thought the menu could have offered a few more items. Only 1 dessert offering. Nothing with pasta or any dish such as southern cooked catfish or trout. Server was clearly tired or at the end of the shift but come on, as someone who's served before--it's holiday for women who are often tired and looking after others. Food was .. not good. We couldn't have been more pleased with our dinner. Not only did we get delicious food, but the atmosphere was beautiful and the staff was exceptional. The kids' plates were plenty of food, well-seasoned and a reasonable price ($8). We adults thoroughly enjoyed the roasted cauliflower app (the chickpeas were unbelievable), and we split the harvest salad with chicken (it surprised us coming hot, but it was super tasty with sesame oil as a backdrop for the wholesome grains) and the grilled blt (the sweet jelly was delightful, although a horseradish dipping sauce would have been perfection). Great restaurant with delicious cocktails. The bartender even made some drinks off menu per request. They accommodated a decent size party and we're attentive to all of our needs. Atmosphere was warm and inclusive. The food was a twist on basic American fare favorites - bacon jelly grilled cheese, of course crab cakes, and amazing chicken and waffles with bacon syrup. didn't get to experience and it's kind of annoying- currently staying at the hotel and though it had been raining earlier, it's cleared up* and is a lovely evening and so I called to see if we could sit outside, because the inside was busy and due to Covid, we just prefer outside seating when possible, and when I asked if outdoor seating was available this evening I was met with the response "baby, it's wet put there... yeah, its wet." So I guess the answer was no- and instead of wiping off the seating for guests- they just don't. *I reiterate currently not raining and very lovely out. Disappointing. read more

I had the omelet with seasonal veggies and it was perfect. Not over cooked or under cooked. The potatoes were crispy and everything was nicely hot. My husband had the regular breakfast with perfectly cooked eggs and crispy bacon. Gabe, our server was on point! He was appropriately attentive and brought our food quickly. He did a great job. The restaurant has lovely large windows and looks out onto a small park. There are fresh flowers on every table. The decor was homey and comfortable. Service, food & ambience is wonderful- 100% Kentucky cozy! The most important thing you need to know about visiting the restaurant... Is obviously the bar. You will only be lucky enough if you find Hannah as your bartender (they all are great... but Hannah... ) HANNAH makes (hands down) THE BEST espresso martini in town. Her special recipie is made DAIRY FREE and will blow your mind. Freshly ground espresso beans. Perfect (dairy free) frothy foam. I could go on and on about this review however, i need to get back to my Do yourself a favor and enjoy a Cocktail at this beautiful boutique bar! Ps... bourbon selection is wonderful. I enjoyed dinner with friends at 33 staves. We sat outside and had great weather. The food was great. My only complaint is that it appeared that one person was working inside, outside, the bar, and to go. For having so much on her plate she did a great job, but service was slow at times. We were there for over 2.5 hours. We started off with the beer cheese appetizer which was excellent. The harvest bowl was absolutely great though and I was happy to see a healthy, delicious item on the menu to try! My wife and I stopped here on our way back home from Lexington. When we first arrived dinner wasn't open yet, so we got a drink to start. I got the brown butter old fashioned, which was great! Then once dinner started at 5pm, I got the confit duck and waffles. It was my first time trying duck, but it was really good! My wife got the pork shank with Brussel sprouts and Mac n cheese. All of which were great. If you like Brussel sprouts I highly recommend them as they were roasted to perfection with almost Brussel sprout chips peeling off of them. Eric was out waiter/bartender and he did a great job. He was very attentive and knew what was best. I highly recommend giving this place a try, the food was all exceptional. I had some of the best (likely the best) wings ever - dry dusting of chilli was great which I could dip in buffalo sauce. Only knocks they ran out of Chardonnay and my wife's steak was grizzly. 33 Staves is the restaurant in the new Origin hotel located in the Summit. A group of friends and I came recently on a weekday looking to try a new place. The interior decor of 33 Staves is what I'd describe as hip/modern with a bluegrass twist. There are high ceilings with huge glass windows with a view of the Summit area. There is a nice bar area and ~12 tables for patrons. We were able to be seated as a group of 5 by adding a chair to the end of a 4 top. The restaurant wasn't too busy on a weekday night- we were one of the few groups of people dining that night. After we were seated, our server Noah took our drink orders. It took a surprising amount of time for half of the drinks to be brought out...and another 10 minutes after that for the other half. Our server apologized for the delay and said there was a backup at the bar- which seemed odd as neither the bar or restaurant was very busy at all. The menu is definitely southern-focused, but I appreciated that there were some veggie-friendly options! I ordered the "harvest bowl" which was delicious...but pretty small in portion. If I returned I think I would opt for the portobello burger that my friend had ordered and enjoyed. I tried her fries that came as a side, and agreed with her that they were a little soggy/undercooked, but good level of saltiness. I understand that 33 Staves is a hotel restaurant, but I hope they can step up their game! There is a lot of restaurant competition in Lex, especially in the Summit; and to be successful every aspect has to be stellar! read more

Nice place, easy to get to from Nicholasville Rd., and has trendy decor. There isn't any music in the restaurant so it's super quiet - some tunes would have been nice. The food was wonderful - had a great burger and my friends raved about the chicken sandwich. The service however just isn't there. There isn't a hostess to greet you so you have to awkwardly stand at the entrance until you figure out that you can seat yourself, and we saw several others experience the same confusion when they entered. Our server worked at a snail's pace, wasn't friendly, and kept choosing to clean off tables while our drinks were sitting at the bar...for a good 10 minutes. If the place was packed, I would have understood but we were 1 of maybe 4 tables in the whole place. I'd go back for the food and just hope that the service gets better with time. read more

I booked a room at the hotel (Origins) and this place is on the first floor. Unfortunately we couldn't sit at the bar because of COVID, but we grabbed a comfortable spot anyway. The interior is warm and rustic with a very large bar area and alcohol display. We drank to our hearts content and you can even take something back to the room (but they have to open it). We had two meals here, dinner and brunch. Both were good but not spectacular or mouth watering. If you are looking for a decent meal and solid cocktails you won't be disappointed here. Service was fantastic! One negative note was the bathroom... they were out of everything in the morning during the brunch! read more
