It's been a while since we have been here and we love their Filet Kabobs Special. We callled first and confirmed that they had it tonight and they did! My wife ordered that and I thought I would try the Maui Ribeye. I believe that it is the same marinade with a different cut of meat. The Caesar is large and always delicious. Both of our steak dishes were cooked just the way we like it with a nice char on the outside I look forward to coming back.

GET. THE. CALAMARI. Honestly you can't go wrong with anything you order but especially the calamari, Alex's salad, and the carrot cake. People have told me they do not like carrot cake and I convince them to take one bite and their whole world changes. It is the best piece of cake you'll have it's truly amazing you will get it every time. The service is always impeccable and they rotate specials often. It has a low light ambiance so it's perfect for a night out or date. I love J. Alexander's and i recommend it to anyone who has never been

3/10/25 I had lunch here with a friend, and we were greeted and seated promptly. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making for a great first impression. We started with the queso chips as an appetizer, which were a tasty way to kick off the meal. For my entrée, I had the steak with French fries and a side salad, while my friend ordered the quinoa shrimp coleslaw dish. Both meals were delicious, with generous portions--plenty to take home for dinner. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'd definitely return in the future!

We had our company Christmas dinner here on Saturday night. The drinks, appetizers and entrees were all fantastic. We started off with the Deviled Eggs and Calamari. I had the Filet Mignon with Béarnaise and Loaded Baked Potato. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. My wife had the Carolina Crab Cakes. Others in our group had the Grilled Pork Tenderloin, Steak Maui, and Seared Ahi Tuna. We were all very pleased with our choices. For cocktails I had the Spiced Pear Old Fashioned (my favorite of the two) and The 859. For dessert, several of us split the Skillet Blondie with Vanilla Ice Cream. Our service was very good considering we had a group of 9. All of our food came out together and no one had to wait on theirs. On another note, our 8yr old grandson and I had interaction with Richard. He was very personable and made our grandson's night just talking about what he wanted for Christmas.

Stopped at J. Alexander's for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was not busy, there was plenty of room at the bar. Staff was friendly and even timed our food between appetizers and meal. Cocktail drinks were delicious. We ordered the calamari and clam chowder, no complaints, both were great.

In looking at the pictures, lots of things seem to have a lot of pepper on them? Is this the way they are served or are these after people have peppered their food themselves. Asking because I am (sadly)allergic to pepper?

Hi Sue. Since people can upload their own photos, I'm not exactly sure what menu items you are referring. However, we can adapt our menu items to your pepper allergy. Please speak to your server or manager when ordering. Thanks!

Do they have a happy hour? If so, what are the specials?

This visit marked our third time at OBC Kitchen, and once again, it did not disappoint. This time we experimented with timing and booked an early reservation at 2:45 pm on a Saturday. We crossed over into the dinner menu and discovered something wonderful: the service and ambiance were even better than the busier evening hours after 6 pm. The staff was exceptionally attentive. Every dish and cocktail option was explained thoughtfully, which I appreciate, especially because I enjoy cocktails that come with a bit of theater. When drinks are presented with care, described well, and executed beautifully, the experience becomes part performance, part craft. Here, they delivered perfectly. The food, as always, was superb. We shared several chef selections including Beef Tallow Fries, Southern Grouper, Bacon in a Glass, and the Cola-Braised Short Ribs. Each dish was rich, flavorful, and confidently executed. Dessert continued the celebration with the Churro Cheesecake, and to our delight we were also gifted the Warm Buttermilk Donuts, which felt like a small act of culinary generosity. In a departure from my usual Manhattan and Old Fashioned flights, I tried a Bloody Mary and The Cure, both excellent and beautifully balanced. At this point I can confidently say OBC Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. The consistency, creativity, and hospitality make every visit memorable. A special thank you to the team who took care of us on Saturday, March 7th, 2026. You elevated an already wonderful experience and made it even better than usual.

Located near Fayette Mall, this isn't just another themed restaurant; it is a meticulously crafted homage to 1920s Americana that feels as authentic as a vintage Model T. From the moment you pull up to the "service station" exterior, the attention to detail is staggering. The interior is a gearhead's dream--vintage Ford vehicles are suspended over the central bar, and the air hums with a lively, communal energy. The "garage" commitment extends to the smallest details: napkins are thick, blue shop towels; the servers sport mechanic shirts; and even the bathroom sinks are cleverly fashioned from tires and fuel pump nozzles. It's immersive without being kitschy, creating a vibe that is both family-friendly and sophisticated enough for a casual date night. While the décor draws you in, the kitchen keeps you in your seat. The menu is anchored by their Burgers of Fame, a clever lineup of Black Angus beef creations. The Model "A": A standout choice. The half-pound prime burger is juicy and flavorful, but the real magic is the combination of a perfectly fried egg, sharp cheddar, and a bacon jam that provides a smoky, sweet finish. Every bun is branded with the Ford's logo--a touch of flair that makes the plate "Instagram-ready" before you even take a bite. You cannot visit without ordering the Jumbo Piston Onion Rings. They arrive stacked high on a vertical rod, encased in a thick, golden batter that provides a satisfying crunch without being overly greasy. If you aren't in the mood for a burger, the Pulled Pork Mac N' Cheese is a soul-warming alternative. The cheese blend is exceptionally creamy, providing a sharp contrast to the tender, bourbon-BBQ-slathered pork. For a lighter (but still flavorful) start, the Firestone Shrimp--tossed in a spicy "boom boom" sauce--offers a bright, zesty kick that wakes up the palate No visit is complete without a "Sweet Ride." Their Old-Fashioned Milkshakes are thick enough to require a spoon and come with the classic whipped cream and cherry topper. If you're sharing, the Funnel Fries (dusted with powdered sugar and served with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces) are a whimsical, carnival-inspired end to a hearty meal. They don't just have a great kitchen; their craft beer list is one of the most comprehensive in the area. Ask your server for a local Kentucky brew to pair with your burger! Ford's Garage has successfully accelerated into the Lexington food scene by proving that a "themed" restaurant can still prioritize culinary quality. The service is efficient and friendly--much like a well-tuned engine--and the prices are fair for the portion sizes and the level of immersion. Whether you're a lifelong car enthusiast or just someone in search of a top-tier burger and a craft beer, this spot is firing on all cylinders.

We did have a new server but everyone else in other sections seemed to be okay. I am not sure what happened as this has not been an issue before here or anywhere else when a server is new. Perhaps they were slammed? Short staffed? No idea. I also had two coupons and asked the server to scan my barcode as stated on the app so I could use them together (he asked another server if that was allowed and he said yes). Then he tried my phone numbers and "nothing came up" and apparently management just said "sorry, at least we got your birthday dessert off"... even though I had the app right in front them? oh well I guess. Had to ask for a box 3-4 times. It was just painful. By the time we finished our appetizer we wanted to go home but couldn't. I wanted to express these concerns in person but my husband did not let me due to the server being new, which I understood. Thank goodness for the reservation, because the restaurant was full to capacity, even the bar area was completely occupied. I arrived a bit before the reservation time, sat at the bar and ordered a Ginger Beer (a delectable non-alcoholic drink). Cassie was the bartender, and very friendly and attentive. When the reservation time arrived, our party was directed to our booth, which could have used a good wiping down on the seats and a good sweep under the table, but the table top was clean and we all sat down. With it being so busy, I'm not surprised the seating and floor were not spotless. The rest of the group ordered two appetizers: Fried Couscous Mac & Cheese Balls, and Chicken Pot Stickers, of which they all loved both items, but truly raved about the Fried Couscous Mac & Cheese Balls. One individual ordered a BJ's IPA and really enjoyed it as well. One individual ordered the Chicken Alfredo and it was a bit on the dry side, and the waitress obligingly brought them more Alfredo sauce. Other than that, all four of us enjoyed our meals. My Enlightened Strawberry Fields Salad (without cheese or pecans) was very fresh and tasty. Since I'm limited on what I can eat here, I may or may not return...but that has nothing to do with the quality of the food , the service, or the environment.
