On a recent Saturday night, looking for a new fine dining restaurant, the Fat Man and his wife ventured north to Georgetown to try Rodney's On Broadway. Rodney's is a genteel bar/eatery in a restored house with an upmarket seafood & steak menu, plus outdoor seating. For our opening course, we tried the Sea Divers Scallops. These were tandoori-rubbed and served with a sweet Thai chili sauce. The scallops had a good sear and a slight crunch, with the tandoori rub offering a mild, earthy kick and a hint of chili powder flavor. The scallop was light and melted in your mouth. The Thai chili sauce added a sweet heat combo that complemented the scallops perfectly. We then shared the Lobster Bisque, which our server recommended. The bisque was very creamy, with a slightly thicker, velvety texture than typical bisques. It was so creamy that it almost tasted like it had cheese in it, which it did not. It had a salty, slightly paprika-spiced flavor, while the sherry added a slight nutty note. This was an excellent dish and worth the drive itself. For my main course, I ordered the Lamb Chops. They were char-grilled with roasted garlic mint demi-glace and the Potato de jur, which is smoked Gouda au gratin. My lamb was spot-on medium-rare; however, the char was a little hard and bitter, especially on the edges. This was present in most bites. The mint sauce added a touch of sweetness and depth to the meat's flavor. The potatoes were cooked through and offered a slight chew. The Gouda was creamy and nutty, pairing well with the potatoes, though it needed a bit more seasoning. My wife chose the Filet for her main course. She ordered it medium rare with Weisenberger white cheddar grits and green peppercorn cream sauce. Her grits were cooked well and not overdone; the cheddar was only topped on the dish and not melted into it, but it did offer a sharp bite. We both found them to be bland and in need of seasoning. The peppercorn sauce was creamy, with the onions adding texture, crunch, and a slight sweetness, while the peppercorns popped with flavor and mild heat. The steak was seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare; it melted in your mouth. However, the hard char on the edges added a heavy, bitter flavor to most bites. Rodney's menu features appetizers, soups, salads, prime beef selections, entrees, side dishes, and desserts. They offer a full bar with beer and soda selections. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and will offer suggestions and advice. The Fat Man says that Rodney's on Broadway is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins. read more

The Baked Brie topped with a fresh mango chutney & toasted almonds. Served with toasted garlic bread was very delicious. We ordered the Filet Mignon steaks were cooked perfect, very tasty seasoned and by far the best steak I've had at a restaurant in a very long time. The carrot cake/cheesecake with candied pecans and raisins was the "icing on the cake" as it was very delicious as well! Great service and charming southern home atmosphere. However the food was not up to fine dining standards. I had the shrimp and scallops on toast points. Seafood itself was very good but the sauce was flavorless and the toast points were old and stale. We also had crab claws as a special which they called Scooby Snacks. They were small (probably frozen from a bag) and lacking in flavor too. I am glad that they are in this smaller town but to commit and spend the kind of money they are charging is not worth it so much. read more

Rodney's on Broadway was fantastic. Great service is hard to find, but not here. Our server, Kat was absolutely phenomenal. She was attentive, personal and just overall top notch. Moving from Louisville to Georgetown, this was incredibly refreshing. 10/10! The Steaks and sides were delicious and drinks were amazing. We also highly recommend the Brie cheese appetizer. We typically go for steak, but were tempted by their menu to try one of their excellent sounding seafood options. Rodney's may be considered a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. There's a huge drop off from every other restaurant in Georgetown and Rodney's. Georgetown is lucky to have such a gem. We will 100% be back. read more

First visit here! Foremost we will be back!!! Service was impeccable! Polite, attentive, and eager! Not just our own server, the support staff and kitchen! We did not have to ask for anything that was requested at the time of order! It did not matter if it was their table or not they would offer to remove things from the table or refill things! Five different servers/bar tenders/ porters served us not just our waitress! The food was exceptional! Our filets were cook exactly to temp (mid-rare) and the sides were fresh and hot! The sides we chose were the vegetable of the day which was squash zucchini onion and carrot Julienned and sautéed perfectly so as not to be mushy and watery! Although I thought a little more seasoning was needed! The macaroni and cheese was excellent and the best in our small town! Finally the dessert options were many! But we chose the creme brûlée! This truly is the best around in a 50 mile radius! Perfectly topped and crisp not mushy, and the custard was absolutely perfect as well! House made whipped cream and fresh berries! It was very slow for a Saturday night so we were able to linger and chat! The old home that the establishment is in is quaint and has art on the walls that can be purchased if desired! The bar is small but well appointed and has a decent amount of bourbon if that is your desire! I highly recommend this option for a nice well done service and cook! We went to Rodneys tonight and it was fair. I'm exercising restraint. I expected an exceptional meal. Atmosphere and service were first rate. Meal was not. $70 for dry and fairly tasteless snapper. Rodney's is very high end and perhaps a steak is the better choice. I doubt we'll be back. For $300 I would suggest Carson's or Tony's in Lexington. read more

Rodney's appears to be in an unassuming building, but you'll be bowled over when you walk through those doors! It's a very charming and elegant space. It was 7:30 on a Friday night, but we were immediately seated at the cozy bar. After a couple of drinks, it was time to order. We began with the warm goats cheese salad. The round of cheese was dredged in panko crumbs and pan-fried till crispy on the outside, warm and creamy on the inside. Served on a bed of baby greens and candied pecans with a raspberry vinaigrette, it was one of the best I've had in a while! My friend had the mussels special of the night. The bowl was filled with mussels, roasted cherry tomatoes, Parmesan shavings, and nicely toasted bread for sopping up that delicious sauce. The dish was dusted with smoked paprika making it pleasing to the eye and tasty! I chose another special, Alaskan king halibut. After marinating in tequila and lime, it was broiled to perfection. It sat atop green chili cojita cheese grits and was garnished with a roasted tomato sauce, sautéed Bermuda onions, and cilantro. It came with a side of Mexican corn alote salad which surpasses all others! The secret is the addition of Tajin seasoning, a unique blend of mild chili peppers, lime and sea salt. All in all it was a great dining experience. The ladies working the bar were busy bees, but the they were super friendly and very attentive. If you've wondered about dining at Rodney's, put your curiosity at rest and give them a try. read more

Chef Rodney & his staff are the absolute best! The restaurant was beautifully decorated w/ hearts for Valentine's Day, which they do for all holidays. He specially made reservations for us on this very busy Valentine's Day. The Prix Fixe Valentine's Menu was $75 & was more than worth it. They also had a specialty Valentine's Day drink menu, both decorated in pink w/ hearts. Chef never leaves a detail out. For starters either a fresh Bibb Salad or Lobster Bisque. We chose the Bisque which was full of lobster flavor & rich. Served w/ a basket of warm, crusty on the outside, soft on the inside bread w/ his balsamic & olive oil mix topped w/ freshly sliced parmesan. Both entrees were also amazing, savory & delicious! We shared the perfectly cooked 8oz Filet, succulent Lobster Tail & delicately broiled Sea Bass. OMG the Sea Bass was complimented by this marvelous roasted Red Pepper Aioli. Sea Bass should always come with this. The Gouda Au Gratin Potatoes & brussels sprouts accompanied the entrees & were perfect in flavor & just enough. We shared the two desserts, Flourless Chocolate Cake w/ Chambord & Cheesecake. We were so full from devouring the first two courses that we could barely finish the dessert. 12/14/19 I came here on a Saturday evening with my well behaved 5 year old niece, whom is gluten and dairy allergic. Blame me for not knowing this was a fancy restaurant where apparently bringing kids here may not be ideal. Why do you ask? Because not only do we get seated in an empty room away from all the other restaurant patrons, felt very isolating, like they wanted to hide us. The food options for anyone gluten or dairy allergic is slim to none here unfortunately. My niece ended up with some terribly over fried French fries and tasteless grilled chicken tenders. Now, she is raised to eat her food unless she really doesn't like it. And she didn't eat much of any of her food. The salad wasn't even suitable for a child, as the house dressing (balsamic vinaigrette was too acidic and tasteless, and the other dressings were made with dairy) Now, don't get me wrong, I appreciated the effort of our server in helping create a dish, that my niece could have. But her food was just terrible. I ordered the grouper which was delicious, and the au gratin potatoes, but the kale side was one to never have again. It was terrible. I guess I expected more from a restaurant that's considered fine dining. I know, I won't return here anytime soon and most definitely not ever with a child. I ended up making a stop at Burger King after this place so my hungry niece could enjoy a bun-less burger and better French fries. read more

This was another Yelp find. We found ourselves unable to book a room in Louisville (the night before the Kentucky Derby - who knew?), so we unexpectedly ended up in Lexington, looking for a nice dinner on short notice. Rodney's had 4-1/2 stars and could seat us at a reasonable time so we booked it. It seems that there is a Rodney and he is the owner as well as the chef. Rodney's On Broadway is awesome! We visit Georgetown often, and we love trying restaurants around town. We had heard glowing reviews of Rodney's, so we set a dinner reservation and went here with another couple. We all loved it! The service was fantastic, and the food was delicious. We started with cocktails and the Spicy Homemade Meatball Bruschetta, which was served with Garlic Bread. It was great! I'm not the biggest fan of meatballs, but these were cooked perfectly, a little crisp on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. The marinara was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy, and the garlic bread was cooked to perfection, crispy, but not burnt at all. I opted for one of the night's salad specials, the Burrata Salad. As soon as our server said burrata I was sold! And I'm so glad I ordered this dish, because it was really tasty! B and I both selected the Filet Mignon for our entree. I chose Macaroni and Cheese as my side, while B went with Asparagus and added Béarnaise Sauce to go with his filet. Everything was great! Both of our filets were cooked perfectly, and both were really flavorful. The béarnaise sauce paired perfectly with the filet and asparagus, but wasn't a necessity. As great as everything was, including the atmosphere and service, I would go back to Rodney's simply for the macaroni and cheese. I'm not kidding. I think it was the best I've ever had. I know macaroni and cheese is a simple dish, but let's face it, sometimes it's not that good. I know, I know, it seems like it should always be good, but sometimes it's not. Well, Rodney's made up for every bad macaroni and cheese experience I've ever had. I was so full towards the end of the meal that I gave up on my filet and finished the macaroni and cheese instead. Chef/owner was absolutely beyond belief. Publicly and louldly challenged patron at tableside who had "the audacity" to meekly send back an extreemly fatty entree item they deemed unacceptable. I didn't expect to find a restaurant of this quality in Georgetown. I'm spoiled with the Nashville restaurant scene, but this place was every bit as good as the best of our city. The steaks were phenomenal - great crust, cooked perfectly to temperature, and the chef did more than wave it near the spice rack, which is always welcome. The artichoke dip was surprisingly healthy - it wasn't swimming in a cream cheese sauce, but was very good. The desserts were wonderful, and they had a great whiskey list to keep me busy between courses. I'll definitely be coming back, this place is a hidden treasure. read more

Happy Birthday to Me! Rodney's on Broadway was a pleasant surprise, a little off the beaten path for us, but worth the hour drive. TBH, parking was a bit of a challenge but after seeing the sweetly decorated table with a handwritten card from the staff, that was quickly forgotten. We started off with calamari and artichoke dip as appetizers; while our party of five agreed the capers added a little too much salt, each dish was otherwise really tasty. The steaks were on point! The lobster tails in the surf and turf were a bit charred at the edges making de-shelling a task but the flavor was good. The sides were not as impressive--cold, small florets of broccoli, potatoes rolled in Panko (just weird), mushrooms swimming in ramekins of butter--and the pasta dish with chicken, while visually appealing was bland. Dessert choices were extensive for such a small restaurant, and overall good. The flourless torte was super dense (more like a thick ganache base for truffles) but the raspberry drizzle saved it. The layered white chocolate cream cake was several layers of dry cake but had a yummy filling. Unfortunately, it tasted like it had spent a day too many in the fridge. The Grand Mariner creme brûlée was delicious, and the coconut key lime pie was flavorful, but also a bit dry. read more
