Absolutely loved our visit to this warm and cozy joint in Midway Kentucky... Arrived early, but the staff let me in through the bar area because I was lost... Very friendly and kind. The location is steeped in history and they provide some reading material that gives you the sense of how historic this location is. Artwork hangs on the wall, so the location serves as a sort of gallery, which can be enjoyed by the patrons. Forget about all the wonderful things I've already said... The food was perfect and the portions were perfect as well. We had the prix fixe brunch, so the three course meal was worth the $35 that it cost and I would've paid much more for the experience as well as the food. Bravo to the owners for having the wherewithal to employ such wonderful people and an amazing chef, we will be back.

After learning they were nominated for a James Beard award, we had to visit! The space is beautiful, the brunch was delicious and the service was warm and welcoming.

We've been to Holly hill inn both for a themed Kaiseki dinner that was outstanding but this review, I want to feature their take home New Year's Eve menu. This menu was $80 for enough food for two. The food even lasted into the next day. Started with delectable kale salad and tomato and artichoke soup. A boule bread bowl came with perfectly seasoned olive oil and aged balsamic. Following, the mains were a vol au vent with the most perfect shrimp and lobster newburg and a short rib with roasted vegetables and a delicious jus. We were so stuffed we couldn't finish dessert until a few hours later. A moist jam cake with blackberry topping. It was a beautiful meal.

The food was very interesting mixing flavors and playing around with combining non-traditional foods. Most the dishes were fantastic, some were unique and definitely something I had never had before. If you want something fancy and different I'd recommend this place. The service was good and we took our time enjoying our experience.

Wow!! I can't wait to return. Is it possible to give more than 5 stars? Just continues to be an unbelievable experience when dining at a restaurant by one of the best Kentucky chefs. Quida I believe now owns 5 restaurants each with their own personality and style. Holly Hill remains my favorite. The service and location are world class. Our three course meal with starters were just amazing. So good in fact that I was so immersed in the experience I forgot to take some pictures of my three courses. All I can say is if you haven't experienced Holly Hill or Chef Quida's restaurants you are missing out. Run don't walk. You will thank me because you did! I'm still full!

Attended the opening of the Ray Papka Art Gallery/reception at Holly Hill Inn. As it happens, Ray is Ouita's delightful dad. She has decided to host a permanent collection of his very interesting mixed media works. Stop by for dinner and take a stroll upstairs to see them. 71

Beautiful quaint restaurant, yet all of Quita Mitchel's restaurants are! Lovely decor, cozy home feeling, tiny bar. We didn't have any reservations which is a must, but the staff was so friendly & accommodating & sat us immediately. Ordered the special Sunday Brunch Butternut Squash Soup which was awesome & creamy! The bread was more like delicate pastry w/ dried fruit which I usually don't like, but loved it! Ordered Steak, Eggs, Grits, Greens & Hashbrowns. It was alright, but didn't like the bbq sauce on the Steak. Everything else was alil bland, but love the ambiance & will be back to try much more. Everything that came out looked delish & I am a fan of all of Quita's restaurants.

It took me almost 36 years, but I finally made it to Holly Hill Inn, which in itself is a shame since they have BRUNCH! We enjoyed a fantastic 4-course dinner on the eve of the my fiancé's parents 55th wedding anniversary. Amuse Bouche: Cherry tomato tart (I could have eaten an ACTUAL pie-sized version of this perfection) House pasta with pistachio pesto Joe's duck breast, fresh corn polenta, plum sauce, roasted grapes Peach-blackberry galette, buttermilk ice cream, bourbon caramel Bourbon blackberry bramble (Plus his red snapper and dark chocolate mousse cake) Two critical pieces of feedback: 1) The atmosphere they're going for is upscale, small, and ideally intimate, but it cannot be so when one can hear the conversations at every other table (and know that they can hear yours). As of that weren't bad enough, every door in the place is open and you can hear dishes clanging and glasses clinking. Something could be done to improve the acoustics, regardless of the age of the structure. 2) While delicious, the means do not justify the ends when it comes to the four-course meal. $55 is quite a stretch for the portions we received, namely the third (main) course, and I wasn't the only one who looked quizzically at my plate when it arrived. So keep that in mind. The service was exceptional from a professionalism standpoint, but all businesses are short-staffed right now and - understandably - service is slow and you might wait 20 minutes for someone to stop long enough to notice every drink at your table is empty. That's ok. That said, many of the wine bottles are very reasonably priced, so order a bottle and forego the wait!

I ordered the burger without the bun or fries, and it was so overly salty that I struggled to finish it. My wife had the CACIO de PEPE, which tasted quite different from what we're used to, and the pasta was overcooked for our liking. My brother-in-law ordered the fish tacos, which were easily the standout dish at the table. My sister's chicken cesar salad was decent but nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant itself feels a bit unexpected for a rural setting, which may help explain its strong ratings. For me, though, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again--more of a "fine if someone else suggests it" kind of spot.

The atmosphere is super cozy and we felt welcomed from our first steps in. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and we met Michaela who took fabulous care of us for the evening! We settled in to a couple of their specialty cocktails (midwinters night dream and cardamaro manhattans - yummy I'll say) and the Brussel Sprout starter. Let me say to come hungry because the portions are large but yummy. The sprouts are a meal all by themselves! But there's more! I had the porcini rubbed filet and Teresa had the cabbage confit. Both portions were sizable and while I know she loved her cabbage, I was in heaven with a perfectly prepared filet that just melted in my mouth. Plus the asparagus spears and the Okinawa sweet potato mash were perfect accompaniment! Sadly, there was so much goodness we ended up bringing some home and we'll have to come back for dessert and another menu sampling. All in all a very memorable experience and a great place for a birthday dinner! But we'll be back just because! Special closing shout out to Michaela for taking such great care of us.

The chicken breast itself was exceptionally large, tender, and juicy perfectly fried the Nashville sauce on it was hot, but not too hot you know what I mean and the coleslaw wasn't runny and have too much mayonnaise. The only thing I will say is that the service from the young man that we had was just average. It took us a lot of effort, joking around with him, asking his suggestions and recommendations to get him to even smile I would suggest that he acts like he wants to be working and not come across to his customers like we're a bother to him. If that wouldn't have been the case, this would've been a 5+ star review.

There was no parking in their parking lot, so we had to drive down the hill and try our luck with street parking, then walk back up about 5-7 minutes to get into the restaurant. A bit of a pain, especially since the restaurant was only about 50% full. The host or person at the front desk was hiding - sitting on the floor on his phone. We had to lean over the counter to ask him to get up so we could ask him to seat us. He ended up being our server as well, after he literally argued with a coworker who walked up while we were inquiring about a table. "I just took the last two damn tables, isn't it your turn?" doesn't inspire confidence that you're a welcome guest. I ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown. When in Rome, right? The menu says you can get it with Mornay sauce or Kentucky Hot Brown sauce. I asked the waiter which was better - he said the Hot Brown sauce. Sounds great! It came out with the mornay sauce. It was still good, but I was a wee bit disappointed. My companions enjoyed their meals. I picked up a reasonably priced bottle of Sazerac Rye on the way out, since they didn't have any left at the distillery when I was there earlier in the visit.

These folks are trying to play at being a real restaurant when all they're really doing is robbing people blind with sub par food and service. One person covering 5 (yes, 5 WHOLE tables). Even on an incredibly slow night service was awful. I don't know about anybody else out there, but I don't have $200 to throw away on BS restaurants. Especially disappointing on your anniversary. Rodney's is a genteel bar/eatery in a restored house with an upmarket seafood & steak menu, plus outdoor seating. For our opening course, we tried the Sea Divers Scallops. These were tandoori-rubbed and served with a sweet Thai chili sauce. The scallops had a good sear and a slight crunch, with the tandoori rub offering a mild, earthy kick and a hint of chili powder flavor. The scallop was light and melted in your mouth. The Thai chili sauce added a sweet heat combo that complemented the scallops perfectly. We then shared the Lobster Bisque, which our server recommended. The bisque was very creamy, with a slightly thicker, velvety texture than typical bisques. It was so creamy that it almost tasted like it had cheese in it, which it did not. It had a salty, slightly paprika-spiced flavor, while the sherry added a slight nutty note. This was an excellent dish and worth the drive itself. For my main course, I ordered the Lamb Chops. They were char-grilled with roasted garlic mint demi-glace and the Potato de jur, which is smoked Gouda au gratin. My lamb was spot-on medium-rare; however, the char was a little hard and bitter, especially on the edges. This was present in most bites. The mint sauce added a touch of sweetness and depth to the meat's flavor. The potatoes were cooked through and offered a slight chew. The Gouda was creamy and nutty, pairing well with the potatoes, though it needed a bit more seasoning. My wife chose the Filet for her main course. She ordered it medium rare with Weisenberger white cheddar grits and green peppercorn cream sauce. Her grits were cooked well and not overdone; the cheddar was only topped on the dish and not melted into it, but it did offer a sharp bite. We both found them to be bland and in need of seasoning. The peppercorn sauce was creamy, with the onions adding texture, crunch, and a slight sweetness, while the peppercorns popped with flavor and mild heat. The steak was seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium rare; it melted in your mouth. However, the hard char on the edges added a heavy, bitter flavor to most bites. Rodney's menu features appetizers, soups, salads, prime beef selections, entrees, side dishes, and desserts. They offer a full bar with beer and soda selections. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and will offer suggestions and advice. The Fat Man says that Rodney's on Broadway is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.
