Service and food were excellent. So far everything on the menu is awesome. My favorite to date is the whipped feta hummus.

This is such a heartbreaker. We frequented this restaurant so often when they first opened and it was a rising star. Sadly, our last 3 visits have gone from bad to worse. We will never waste our money here again. Service was awful, appetizer burned, both duck and steak were overcooked. My meal was supposed to come with asparagus that was no where to found. When I inquired about the side, I was told that the asparagus was ground up in the half dollar size polenta cake. SERIOUSLY?? Duck portion was less than 4 ounces (mostly fat). . $45 for a tiny filet. These folks are trying to play at being a real restaurant when all they're really doing is robbing people blind with sub par food and service. One person covering 5 (yes, 5 WHOLE tables). Even on an incredibly slow night service was awful. I don't know about anybody else out there, but I don't have $200 to throw away on BS restaurants. Especially disappointing on your anniversary. Let we not forget the wines, no brands listed, that tasted like watered down crap. The only reason their Facebook says 100% recommended is because they delete any reviews that say otherwise, Trust me and skip this one. Go to Carsons, Corto Limo or Guiseppes for amazing food and service. Guess I should have ordered the hamburger. Live and learn. read more

Ex-cel-lent! Where do I start... Visited Honeysuckle two nights, back to back, while in town for a graduation ceremony at EKU. Night #1, started off with truffle fries, deviled eggs and a local IPA. Surprisingly, we had room for the filet mignon with romesco polenta & grilled zucchini. Night #2, did the fries again, but followed with the Berkshire pork chop with greens and goat cheese mashed potatoes. Service was prompt & helpful and too bad we ate so much we couldn't fit in a dessert. I'm from SoSoCal and the chances of me being able to take my wife to this wonderful place are slim to none, but I made sure she got copies of my dinner photos! This place is a great date night spot tucked in a residential area in Berea. The space appears to be a converted warehouse of some sort and I'm excited to see what they ultimately transform it into. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The food was pretty good but certain menu items exceeded others so highly recommend surveying your waiter/waitress. We tried the lamb chops (9/10), burger (7/10) and cheesecake (7/10). They also have a full service bar with some fun cocktails to try! read more

Berea is a small quaint town with many attractions for all kinds of people. The Fat Man is a food connoisseur in search of good food. This is where Honeysuckle Dining and Bourbon House comes in. Honeysuckle offers southern cuisine with global influences served in a restored historic building with a full bar and event space. I tried The Churchill made with Maker's Mark, Spice Syrup, Angostura, and Black Walnut Bitter Blend. The bourbon had a good kick and flavor. The bitters came through on the back end, sweetening the entire drink. My wife tried the Blackberry Bramble, which was made with Benchmark Small Batch, Blackberry Rufus' Sweet Lemonade Agave, and Lime. The blackberry flavor comes through immediately; the lemonade and lime hit the back pockets of the mouth and leave a lingering tart taste. The bourbon is well hidden but adds to the flavor of the drink. We started with the Frog Legs. They were fried frog leg saddles with house-made spicy maple glaze. Frog legs can be rubbery, but these were very tender and offered a decent chew. The spicy maple had a good sweetness, but the spice was too subtle, and the sauce was thin, not clinging to the meat. We both ordered the Filet Mignon--an 8 oz center cut with romesco polenta and grilled zucchini. The grilled zucchini was spot on with some char and had a good flavor and salt. The polenta was creamy and seasoned well, and the red pepper tasted great. They add a scallion oil that brings the next level of texture and flavor to the dish. The black pepper from the steak was a welcomed addition to the polenta, as it had a slight sweetness. The filet had a great crust that was full of flavor and salt. The meat was tender and juicy and cooked to a perfect rare center. Honeysuckle has a small but well-thought-out menu and a full bar. Less is more when it comes to small menus. The Fat Man says that Honeysuckle Dining and Bourbon House is Fat Man Approved with 3 chins. read more

Fabulous food and fabulous service! The ambiance is perfect! Seating is far enough apart that you actually have your own space! Love that!! I had the Bees Knees - delicious! My husband tried several of the local beers and love all of them! We started with the feta dip! Amazing house made, fresh feta with pomegranate, crushed pistachios and honey. Served with toasted pita chips! So, so good! I would go back just to have it agin! We also had the burger and steak. Both were excellent! We'll definitely be traveling back to try some other dishes! We were traveling to Gatlinburg from Albion, Indiana and the town of Berea is where we are staying at a hotel so I had scoped out this super cool location for dinner after about 6 hours in the car. We ordered drinks first with my wife going for the blueberry Margarita, which she loved! It contained some smoky bourbon! I grabbed a local craft draft beer which was great as well. For our meals, she got the Chicken Scarpariello and I got the pork chop. Both is us loved our meals! I had never tried collard greens but they were perfect with the yummy mashed potatoes! Our server was great and very attentive. The ambiance of the place was super awesome as well and the place just reeked of history! First, round of applause for the service. Waitress was fantastic, man working the hostess are, great... and an older lady came out and saw my toddler wasn't eating what we gave him and she provided him fruit which he LOVED. Ordered the filet and Ceaser salad with chicken. Appetizer was truffle fries. I only have one suggestion and that is the steak could've used more seasoning. It was cooked great though. Husband loved his salad and chicken. Had a couple cocktails as well. They have a happy hour from 5-6:30 pm. Lastly, this place is beautiful and comfortable. Great indoor or outdoor seating. We were staying at the Boone Tavern Hotel. We were able to Walk to the Honeysuckle. My husband had the rack of lamb, frogs legs, and a couple different bourbons. Staying in Berea from out of state and went to Honeysuckle based on good reviews, Honeysuckle was fabulous from start to finish! It's located in a quiet residential neighborhood next to a golf course. We were quickly greeted by the friendly hostess then server. My Parmesan risotto was well presented and the creamiest and most flavorful risotto I've ever had, and it paired well with my Pinot Grigio. My husband's coffee-crusted pork chop was also nicely prepared, a good portion and cooked to perfection. We selected both desserts offered- the NY style cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries and a Currant type of dessert topped with vanilla ice cream that was absolutely delicious! We devoured that and brought the cheesecake home to eat later. We also enjoyed the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. Warm, welcoming and relaxing. The fire pit and seating outside is also nice. I highly recommend Honeysuckle to anyone in the area looking for a delicious meal and wonderful dining experience for a reasonable price! read more

The first thing is the atmosphere and vibe! When you walk in it's a huge barn type setting with a selection of tables and chairs. The next thing is their cocktails! I had the Churchill, it was their version of an Old Fashioned and it was superb! My husband had the blueberry margarita and it was delicious. We both had an appetizer, I had the French Onion Soup and it was unbelievable, very rich broth and plenty of cheese. My husband had the deviled eggs and they were excellent. I had the scallops for my entree, they were served with succotash and were the best scallops I've ever had! My husband had the lamb chops and they were so succulent and cooked perfectly! Mom and I had dinner at this tucked away gem just a stones throw from downtown Berea. It's in the bottom floor of some historic building that houses a couple of large event spaces. The entrance is not clearly marked but after exploring around the building we found the back entrance. The bar and ambiance is great! Our server was sweet as sweet tea. Before dinner drinks were wonderful. A nice collection of specialty cocktails. Highly recommend. Menu is small, but a great selection! Mom had the pork chop, collards, and mashed potatoes. Said it was the best she's had!! I had the trout which was a cut like salmon, not the typical filet. It was wonderful also. Everything was prepared just right! The "new place in town." I have eaten here six times working through the menu. The Harvest salad is a favorite. The main plates include the Pinnacles Burger with a killer bun with Muenster, Trout with pan seared onions, zucchini and asparagus and the first meal I had, the 8 oz filet. I have recommended Honeysuckle to over 13 couples because of the service, the ambiance and the setting. The prices are higher than other local fine dining places but in my mind the staff and owner has created the value. read more

I had the filet (which was cooked perfectly), my husband had the pork chop (which was awesome) and my sister in law had the hot brown (which she took half home). We then shared the apple dumpling. My girlfriend and I were out celebrating my birthday and she told me to pick a place to eat. I searched for restaurants, and happened to find this one. Being one that we had never been to, we decided to give it a try. We arrived without reservations and was seated to a table. The place did not look all that busy, even though there were a couple of large parties there. We ordered the frog legs as an appetizer and placed an order for the main entree directly after. I have always been told that you eat with your eyes first. The frog legs that came out were still connected to the hip and the little feet were still attached. I had never seen frogs toes up until this point. Needless to say, the presentation was highly off putting. I have been to whole hog and gator roasts that were more presentable. The taste of the legs were not bad, but the sauce seemed to be one that is store bought. Could not have been, just the taste was familiar. My girlfriend ordered the pork chop and I ordered the pan fried trout. It would have been very hard to convince me that I had not been served salmon. It was not typical trout that I have had before. The entrees themselves were very good! The service was subpar. We noticed other tables being provided rolls, but we did not get any. Along with having to wait for our drinks to be refilled. All and all, not the greatest place, but no the worst. read more

We've been to Honeysuckle twice, with positive experiences both times. This place is seriously good - as good as any place in Lexington. The spacious room has large dark wood tables that are spread out around the long bar. The menu is limited but offers several options from vegetarian, to fish, and meat. Everything is made fresh, and most items are locally sourced. Wine & beer are` reasonably priced, & they also serve a variety of creative cocktails, with a wide selection of Bourbon. On our first visit, my husband had the spicy, maple glazed Frog Legs & Pesto Gnocchi. I had the truffle French fries and Shepherd's Pie special. Today we took advantage of their Easter lunch. I had the Hot Brown, made with country ham & roast turkey, tomato slices & thick bacon toast & smothered with Mornay sauce. My husband had the Steelhead trout (more like salmon than Rainbow trout). Both entrees were well prepared & delicious! For dessert we had the bread pudding & carrot cake,both made fresh. We walked away with enough leftovers for another meal. This is a great place for a early evening happy hour, too. Honeysuckle is not far from I-75 and tucked away in the old Churchill Weavers Building, near the Berea Golf Course.
