Fried gator Hush Puppies
Nina P.

The environment was neat and our server was really friendly and helpful. The restroom needed to be cleaned and there were at least 4 employees standing around talking/on their phones during our visit. We received complimentary seafood bread and it was really tasty. Our food was served quickly and hot. We ordered the fried catfish po'boy, fried gator po'boy, and a seafood boil (snow crab legs, lobster tail, corn, potatoes, crab house cajun, mild). The seafood boil was flavorful, the fried catfish was ok, the gator was good but not enough to fill the bread, and the hushpuppies were really good. I recommend this restaurant if you like seafood.

Crawfish is so good and server was very attentive. I love this place and it's nice inside

I ordered the #4 combo with added broccoli and got it tossed in the Crab House Cajun sauce at medium spice and it was so delicious. Everything was super flavorful, and the seafood bread was amazing too. Our server was very helpful. We will definitely be coming back!

The food was amazing but the lowest spice level is mild and it's a little spicy but overall the service is great. and the lady who seated us was also almost instant so I highly recommended going here if you like seafood. there wasn't much people at all pretty quiet in the restaurant. There's also sports you can watch! This restaurant was overall really good highly recommended.

Dungeness Crab Legs White Clams Shrimp Head Off

Fantastic experience! We came to check this place out after many months of having a terrible experience at a similar concept closer to Hamburg (shaking crab) This gator bites here were sooooo good. They were soft and buttery and the honey mustard complimented it perfectly. Our boil was perfect. We shared a bag, I think it was meal option A, we had the Dungeness crab, clams, shrimp, no sausage and opted for extra potatoes and corn of course. We both had a cocktail, which were 20% off from that time (8pm) until close I believe. The drinks were great. I would like to note that i couldn't finish mine without feeling the spirits lol. You definitely get the bang for your buck! We will be back here soon!!

This place is great, the decor is so in tune with a nautical them which I always love. I had Sweet tea and an appetizer of boudin balls. stared off with the Fried Basket of Gator Meat and fresh raw oysters. My wife had the Cajun Whole Lobster (Combo 3) consisting of Crawfish, clams, sausage with red potatoes and buttered corn on the cob. They also offered Chicken Wings in Cajun and BBQ options. The Cajun Fried Rice is a excellent side along with Boudin Balls. For dessert you have to try the Tiramisu, it is out of this world . The service was attentive and quick. If you are in town this ai great lunch spot.

This was our first time visiting the new Turner Commons location and we were NOT disappointed! The…read morenew location was beautifully curated and had a cozy, but upscale vibe that we're used to seeing at OBC Kitchen. They even have cozy blankets available for their fireside, outdoor dining spots; a very cute and clever touch. The bar beautifully highlights their bourbon selection which is as expansive as you would expect being in the heart of The Bluegrass As expected, the cocktails were amazing! We tried a few of their seasonal selections, a classic cocktail, and a Four Roses Small Batch neat. All were fantastic! The gin cocktail "he who shall not be named" was well balanced, bright, and overall easy to drink-a crowd pleaser! The milk and sugar (classic cocktail) and the pumpkin espresso martini were coffee-forward, not too sweet options that made for a perfect "dessert" drink without feeling like you were drinking syrup. If you want a fun, new take on some classic cocktails- OBC is never the wrong choice! Now- the food! We had the Parker's Roll- they came out piping hot in a cute cast iron skillet, a cute nod to the KY Southern cooking that I grew up with. The rosemary had just enough presence to be different/modern but was not in your face, which was a bonus for me-but if you're hoping for super flavor forward rolls these may not be for you. Not pictured, my husband's caprese chicken- it was perfectly seared with just the right amount of crispness, the marinara and caprese salad on the side were the perfect amount of freshness and brightness to lighten up the dish. The short ribs and cheesy grits felt like home- a great dish for a rainy, fall night. No complaints here! We also split the hashbrown au gratin- it was yummy, the jalapeño was pepper first, heat second and had just the right amount of freshness and heat to make an otherwise "classic" dish just a little bit more special. SERVICE! While this is a new-to-us location, OBC is a well established, well executed restaurant and the service reflects their heritage. We were fortunate to be one of the tables that Rachel and Jake were working with tonight- Rachel was training but never missed a step and honestly, was a DELIGHT to spend the evening with. :) She was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She was not "pushy" and gave us plenty of time to just enjoy each course of our meal without being interrupted with ordering the next step. Jake (her trainer) checked in every now and then for feedback on how Rachel was doing, he was always polite and helpful but honestly, not necessary because she was amazing! We also had a few members of the bar team and "runners" check in/deliver drinks and food throughout the meal- they were all polite, timely, kind, and willing to help even if it was outside of their typical "role". Price point: for us, the meal was a little more than we would pay for "just dinner" but for a rare, parents-only, night out it was perfectly reasonable. We will probably reserve this for an "occasion" or a showcase dinner when we have friends in town BUT it is perfect for that! Overall, a great time, with great people, and great food! We're excited to have them on the north side of town!

Dark and mysterious bourbon cellar vibe that serves up some killer food…read more Make a reservation for this loud and potentially dark, depending on where you're seated, foodie joint. Or maybe slip into the bar unannounced. Super friendly! As they've outgrown the Tates Creek location and are building out the new location, the website and Google conflicted on who's open and where. At the moment I'm here on TC. To make sure I knew where I was going, Grace called to confirm my reservation and the correct location. Bonus points! If you're reading this they've already moved to Turner Commons. Maybe the best fries I've ever had. Seriously! I love a fry. The thicker the better. These aren't steak fries but a healthy, house cut, seasoned to perfection. I could make a meal of of these with the dipping sides of smoked tomato ketchup (meh), lemon-garlic rosemary aioli (oh yeah), and a thai chili dipping sauce (B I N G O) $9 Cola-Braised Shirt Ribs were good. The greens with bacon, I mean, bacon, rocked better than other sides in the past. So there's a win. The scoop of grits were delicious and made for a perfect trifecta @ $33. Wanting something more refreshing yet still filling? I highly recommend the Heirloom Tomatoes/Watermelon/Burrata salad $22. You will think it's huge, and it is, but you'll clean your plate. Dessert? Well. That's bourbon, Son. OBC has an exceptional collection. Peruse options on the iPad to get hints of flavors, proofs, and costs. May I suggest the Stag Single Barrel? It's uncut, unfiltered, and a very limited batch from Buffalo Trace. It's a beauty and a beast. Being a date Collect your friends Join a party Does not matter OBC is where you should band give Akeem a shout out at the bar on the way to your table

Upon arrival, there was a bit of a wait, even though we had reservations and the restaurant was not at capacity. Once we were seated, Aubrey was very attentive--almost too attentive at first. We had barely sat down and hadn't even had a chance to look at the menu when she returned about two minutes later. We asked for a few more minutes, then ordered our water and drinks. Our wine arrived about 15 minutes later, and we placed our food order. About 20 minutes after that, our food was delivered by a different server. And then... no Aubrey. Ten minutes after our food arrived, Aubrey finally stopped by to check on us. By that point, there were issues with the food, but honestly, I was too tired to complain. Our wine glasses were empty, and she didn't ask if we wanted another. She simply moved on. The next time we saw her was when she brought the check. There was no offer of dessert, no final check-in, and no real effort to make sure we had enjoyed the meal. What made the experience even more disappointing was watching a server on the other side of the aisle provide attentive, engaged service to his tables throughout the evening. Well done, sir! Overall, this was a disappointing experience. The restaurant clearly has the ability to provide great service--we just didn't receive it. Asian/Cajun/Seafood?…read more My daughter has been on an "oysters on the half shell" kick So we ended up at this unusual restaurant. There were only a few people there for lunch but a seafood boil isn't exactly lunch fare. Based on the number of cars in e parking lot, I had concerns. The restaurant Atmosphere is pure Tally Ho nautical and seating was very comfortable. Service was okay. Employees were doing too many separate tasks to effectively wait on tables. Even with the few number of people that were there, it was a struggle. So we ordered the crab cakes as our starter. They were incredibly delicious. My daughter said she would rank them second behind Heirloom in Midway. If you've ever been to heirloom, you know that this is a huge compliment. I felt for the price, they could have been larger, but still delightful. My daughter ordered the huge tray of fresh oysters which she said were very good, better than a lot of other places. I ordered the dungeoness crab, which came in a large bowl filled with a bunch of garlic butter sauce. I had ordered it medium spicy and it was inferno hot, lol! Next time I will definitely order the sauce on the side because trying to handle the crab legs when they had oil dumped all over them was quite a challenge. But they do provide all the necessary ecoutraments for seafood; crackers, pickers, bibs, and gloves. I thought having the hole in the middle of the table to put all of the shells and other trash in was genius! The crab legs came with red potatoes, a small piece of corn and an egg. I'm guessing the egg is an Asian addition? I'm not sure. The corn on the cob was delicious with the spicy sauce on it. My daughter ate the egg and said it was good. I'm not a red potato fan so I did not try them. Our drinks were good and well-made. The menu is 75% seafood and 25% wings. Not to mention a few Asian dishes as well. It's quite a different take on seafood with the array of sauce options and several different heat levels for each sauce. Overall, we were both very pleased with our meal and we will definitely be back. Price wise, I thought the pricing was high, but for a special occasion, this would be a delicious choice!

Sometimes it's just a one-night stop, sometimes a few days, but we always take her out for a proper dinner. This trip, arriving from Chicago and following my chiropractor's enthusiastic recommendation, we chose Giuseppe's, and it turned out to be a very lovely evening. The space is warm and inviting, with plenty of wood, cozy lighting, and an impressive display of bourbons and wines that immediately sets a welcoming tone. We started with gnocchi and mozzarella alla milanese. The gnocchi were nicely al dente and the paired sauces complemented each other well. My husband and I shared the daily special, halibut with a light creamy caper sauce. The fish leaned slightly overcooked, but the flavors were still very enjoyable, and the Brussels sprouts were perfectly done. Our friend ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, and after one bite I understood her happiness... rich, creamy, and comforting. Dessert became a celebration: a Spumoni Bomba (three gelatos wrapped in a chocolate shell) and a warm maple cake with ice cream that was honestly sinful in the best way. Our server, Tim, didn't make the strongest first impression but warmed up quickly becoming attentive and pleasant. Cocktails could use a little more polish, my Old Fashioned was a bit harsh, and I was surprised a Boulevardier wasn't available despite a Negroni being on the menu and bourbon well represented. Overall, a very good experience and a wonderful dinner with friends, not bad at all for just a brief stop in town.
