Excellent outdoor venue for a drink and good food at West Sixth Cantina food truck. Excellent service, great variety of beer, cool atmosphere. Corn hole, picnic tables, hiking trails, indoor and outdoor seating. Close to home but cool farm vibe. Recommend Sixer for a mild, summertime, light beer or Amber Ale for something a little deeper. Cerveza for a good balance. Family friendly, pet friendly, fun for friends and couples. 10/10.

Great beer. Great tacos/quesadillas. Great place to bring the whole family. Non alcoholic and children's beverages available. Open air ambience. Service was okay. The taco truck service was great. I'd come here again.

    A brewery in Frankfort! Yay!

The West 6th Farm is a welcome addition to Frankfort. Frankfort has a brewery!! The farm is settled in the rolling hills of Frankfort just minutes away from Buffalo Trace Distillery. They will have their flagship beers on draft. (Cocoa porter, here I come!) The grounds are pretty sweet. There is a pavilion outside with seating that over looks the pond and what I will assume is the growing fields for hops. For now, they will only be open on Saturdays, but that may change if they realize people need and want to come out for a drink! Make this happen, people. Support local beer, it tastes better!

    Catch and release fishing!

Good times! Worth the drive from Lexington. We wanted to hike around and my daughter was excited to try the fishing pond. We tried a beer flight and there were many snacks available if you are hungry.

The farm is a wonderful addition to Frankfort. The scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere is perfectly low key. West Sixth beer is always welcome. The farm aspect of trails to wander and see livestock and crops is delightful. It's a great experience overall. I just wish they were open more days out of the week. Update: starting this Friday they will now be open Fridays through Sundays!!!

Getting a sneak peak @westsixth Farm. Tomorrow, 6/9/18 is opening Saturday.

Grand opening is today, 6/9/18. After over a year of anticipation, I finally got the email that it was to happen!! When I got the email invite for the Trailblazers soft opening, I literally felt like I received an invite to the royal wedding. I'm dead serious. West Sixth is central Kentucky royalty. Meeting the owners and getting a sneak peak before the actual opening, was far better than attending the royal wedding. They set the bar for breweries in Lexington and man, they set the bar high. So, they know how they do beer, how does the farm match up? Located in Frankfort, it's just less than 10 miles from the exit 58 on interstate 64 and about thirty minutes from the north side of Lexington. The parking is plentiful, but it is a short walk to the taproom and patio area. Most of the paths are pebbles and gravel. Do wear comfortable and appropriate walking shoes, especially is you want to walk up to the hop yard area. You won't want to miss walking around the gorgeous 120 acre grounds. They had the Athenian Grill food tent right outside of the taproom, but I'm not sure if that will be the usual or not. Considering they will only be open on Saturdays (at least for the time being) I would assume that food trucks and food tents will rotate. If not, Frankfort has a lot of restaurant options.

I've been following the process of the farm for some time now on FB. Excited the time has finally come to open it up to the public. Soft open night for Trailblazers accompanied by Athenian Grill. What a great night to meet the owners and the people that have made this place happen. Beautiful property within Franklin County. Bar area just like the main tap room in Lexington with picnic style seating outside as well as wooden chairs to sit in to take in all the beauty the farm has to offer. Several beers on tap with a special Peaks Mill Ale to commemorate the area in which the farm is located. A definite Saturday spot to catch a great brew if you want away from the normal hustle and bustle of the city.

So thankful to have gotten an invite to this magnificent soft opening. Even though there's not much out there besides residential quarters, the farm is located just north of downtown Frankfort and sits very close to a main road. After being greeted and parking, we headed to the barn-like building that houses all the excellent taps and West Sixth items as well food items for sale. It has a very open concept with plenty of seating just outside under a covered porch-like area. Inside had a few barrels and chairs, while the outside had picnic tables and Adirondack chairs that faced a small pond as well as the rolling hillside that contained hops, chickens, a fish pond, berry bushes, bees, and apple trees. Very relaxing to have a beer among this picturesque view of the country. This is going to be an excellent location for a day of relaxation or just a simple picnic at one of the randomly placed tables throughout the farm. Can't wait to bring a crew from Louisville!

We were here for the opening of this place and it seemed fitting that we were here for the closing day before the winter season. They have some of the best food trucks here at this location. You can walk around this farm all you want. They even grow their own hops out here. Way cool! Same great staff that are from the main brewery. The people out here are amazing! The beers are always awesome. This is a perfect quick spot for my wife and I to get to after work when we want to hang outside and drink some beers and enjoy the evening. They have plenty of parking however it is gravel. I love to visit this brewery and will continue to hit this place up come spring!

I can't say enough good things about the second annual Horses & Hospitality event, sponsored by…read moreHorse Country. Last year all the participants gathered at Keeneland for fantastic food, networking, and learning opportunities, before venturing out to a variety of thoroughbred farms. Audra and I experienced the wonder that is Taylor Made, and although it wasn't my first farm tour, it was one I'll never forget. This year, COVID did away with the large group gathering, but the farm tours were able to take place as scheduled. The majority of farms are stud-centric, but - ironically - at Denali Stud you won't find any stallions or breeding sheds. More on that to come. Founded in 1990 by former New Jersey jockey Craig Bandoroff and his wife, Holly, Denali Stud is a 300-acre mare and foal property - i.e. a nursery - situated in picturesque Paris, KY. So what's with the name? I wondered the same. 'Denali' is a mountain range and Eskimo word meaning 'to aspire to greater heights,' and the word 'stud' is synonymous with 'farm' in Europe. Voila! The four barns, office, and other buildings on the property run almost completely on solar energy. Although the farm has produced many successful athletes, some of their most beloved clients date back to the humble beginnings of the farm. Craig, a passionate outdoorsman, has taken great care to curate a variety of trees around the property, carefully labeling many with their type and year planted. As he and his wife prepare for retirement in Lexington, their son and his wife have begun building their own residence on property. Our tour started at a large, centrally-located field full of mamas-to-be. And let me tell you, swollen bellies won't stop those ladies from stampeding toward you in pursuit of a peppermint and a good cheek scratching! From there we got to visit with mares and foals in an adjacent field, before venturing on to the foal bar - where the magic happens. Each stall was occupied by either a mare very close to (or past!) her due date, or a mother and new foal, and I mean NEW - a couple of the foals were only two days old! Pay close attention when you're walking through the barn, as you may recognize some high profile sires; I counted at least three babies by Tapit and one by Real Quiet. Another nearby barn houses some older foals with their mamas, and pregnant mares with less imminent due dates. While Denali Stud is the most recognizable farm in the family's portfolio, there are two others, both of which take their names from mountain ranges: K2, which is dedicated to maiden and barren mares, and Lotse, a 5-barn yearling division. Our guide was primarily Alexis - with additional input from Aly - and her knowledge of the industry, farm, animals, and many other business facets was really impressive. Passion and enthusiasm likes hers is what gets people excited about tourism, and I'm so glad Denali Stud participated in the event this year!

This tour company has a variety of experiences to choose from at various prices and durations which can be booked online. Appointments are scheduled for you, but you must provide your own transportation.
