We visited Equus Run while spending the weekend in Frankfort. Will was our tour guide and was amazing - so knowledgeable and passionate about wines and the wine making process! He even let us try a Concord grape right off the vine! The grounds are beautiful. After our tour and tasting, we sat on the porch for the live music and shared a charcuterie board. The wines tended to be a little sweet for my taste but that didn't impact my experience - we got to sample 6 of the wines (our choice) and I did enjoy the Equestrian Chardonnay. It was a wonderful was to spend the afternoon!

We were actually looking for the distillery that was supposed to be in same area and saw this winery. Turns out the distillery was at the same place. It looked empty but we decided to go inside the tasting room and to our surprise there were several people at the counter tasting and it was really cute inside. A beautiful wooden table and chairs were right when we walked in. We decided to sample the wines and the Chardonnay and the Cabernet were delicious!! They have many different wines they make and you can choose 6 for $10. We then asked about what the distillery makes and they make brandy and tequila. You can only buy the spirits there they do not sell anywhere or ship. I bought the red and white wine and a bottle of the bourbon barreled tequila. The young guy behind the counter was very sweet and helpful. Definitely glad we stopped here and you should too!!

Easily accessible off I-64 with tastings for purchase. Must say they have remarkably cute labels on their sweet wine collection. Small area inside and a disengaged staff member this visit, questions annoyed him and we left empty handed. When weather permits the grounds look amazing and a outside sip would be a nice event.

Equus Run was a pleasant surprise to the Kentucky wine scene. The grounds are beautiful and inside minimal with rustic accents. They grow the Chardonnay, Pinotage, and Cabernet Franc on the grounds; all other grapes are brought in and finished on site. Their tasting was $10 for (6) tastings which was very modestly priced. The staff warmed up to our group which was great to share the background of the winery, recommendation of wines, and other events the winery has to offer. The group's favorite was the Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Pinotage. I highly recommend stopping by if looking for a good winery in the Lexington area.

What a great little vineyard! We arrived just as they were opening. There were grapes being loaded into the presses which we were invited to try. We chose to have a wine tasting and, really, none of it was bad! We each took home 2 bottles of excellent wine. The bartender was amazing and the tasting was reasonably priced, as were the bottles. Will definitely return whenever I'm in the area.

Lexi was awesome in explaining the different wines - delish- beautiful setting!! We will be back!

This is a former tobacco farm converted to a very scenic Winery/Vineyard with some good wines. Found this on a recent trip based on it's reviews (thanks fellow reviewers) so we picked up lunch and headed there for a tasting. We bought Shakin the Blues (blueberry), Grenache Noir and Bella Rosso (a Port style), and had a bottle of Reisling for (a long!) lunch. This appears to be a popular place but there was no wait at the tasting hut. The grounds are very scenic, surrounded by horse country.

Had a great visit to the winery. Lexi was very friendly and made our trip very informative as she went through our tasting describing the wines perfectly. Highly recommend the winery for visit!

We had a great visit to Equus Run to celebrate July 4th. The 4 of us have very different likes for wines, this winery was able to provide something for all of us. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming! The grounds and gorgeous and having a kitty is a bonus! Definitely will return on our next visit to the bourbon trail.

Looking for a quaint, relaxing place to enjoy time with friends? I highly recommend Equus! This local vineyard produces its own wine, located slightly outside of Georgetown. I've tried pretty much all the wine they offer and they have all been delicious. I recommend the Grenache Noir. They also offer some snacks, including a nice charcuterie plate. In the warmer months, there is usually a live band playing ( I believe on Sundays?). There is plenty of outside seating, but many bring their own chairs to have a picnic or social gathering with friends. The garden is beautiful in the spring and summer, all also grown by the Vineyard owner Cynthia. Needing to stretch your legs? You are free to take a self-guided tour throughout the grounds. I believe there is also a guided tour available to see the "behind the scenes" of wine making. Parking is easy and pl;entiful. Also, it's not far at all. From the Hamburg area, it takes me around 20 minutes at most to get here.

Omg. So much fun because of Lexi. Amazing gal full of information. Great sales technique and 12 bottles purchased - we are leaving. lol.

Strongly recommend taking a tour! Cynthia, the owner did such an amazing job at explaining all the differences in their wines and why they make them certain ways. Not only was the wine good, but it it was so much fun walking around their large property and going to the amphitheater and the creek. Everybody was so welcoming and we loved the atmosphere, will definitely be back!

The atmosphere is super cozy and we felt welcomed from our first steps in. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and we met Michaela who took fabulous care of us for the evening! We settled in to a couple of their specialty cocktails (midwinters night dream and cardamaro manhattans - yummy I'll say) and the Brussel Sprout starter. Let me say to come hungry because the portions are large but yummy. The sprouts are a meal all by themselves! But there's more! I had the porcini rubbed filet and Teresa had the cabbage confit. Both portions were sizable and while I know she loved her cabbage, I was in heaven with a perfectly prepared filet that just melted in my mouth. Plus the asparagus spears and the Okinawa sweet potato mash were perfect accompaniment! Sadly, there was so much goodness we ended up bringing some home and we'll have to come back for dessert and another menu sampling. All in all a very memorable experience and a great place for a birthday dinner! But we'll be back just because! Special closing shout out to Michaela for taking such great care of us.

I ordered the burger without the bun or fries, and it was so overly salty that I struggled to finish it. My wife had the CACIO de PEPE, which tasted quite different from what we're used to, and the pasta was overcooked for our liking. My brother-in-law ordered the fish tacos, which were easily the standout dish at the table. My sister's chicken cesar salad was decent but nothing particularly memorable. The restaurant itself feels a bit unexpected for a rural setting, which may help explain its strong ratings. For me, though, it's not a place I'd go out of my way to visit again--more of a "fine if someone else suggests it" kind of spot.

My wife had already heard wonderful things about Holly Hills, so we made a reservation without hesitation. At our appointed time, we arrived with friends and were quickly seated. After ordering drinks, we looked over the menu and were excited to see that Holly Hill offers Service à la russe -- a style of dining where each course is served sequentially, allowing you to savor every dish individually. (They even let you choose from several options for each course, which makes the experience even more personal.) I absolutely love this type of service, though my biggest challenge was deciding which delicious-sounding dish to pick for each course! Every plate we had was fantastic. The scallop course was perfectly prepared, and the sweet squash and wild grain soup was rich and flavorful. The duck breast that followed was beautifully cooked, and the apple tart was the perfect ending -- sweet, warm, and comforting. The food was outstanding, but I'd be remiss not to mention the wonderful wait staff. They were friendly, attentive, and really added to the overall experience. I'm already looking forward to the next time my travels bring me near Holly Hill Inn -- I'll definitely be back to enjoy the food (and the hospitality) all over again.

I typically would not write a review as a guest, but I have to make an exception for the Apiary. My brother and his wife had their ceremony and reception here the weekend before last and it could not have been more perfect. Complimentary valet parking was available for the wedding and very appreciated. There isn't a ton of parking in the area so this is the perfect solution, especially on a rainy day. Valets were ready to go even when we arrived, about 45 minutes before the ceremony. Just remember cash to tip! The Apiary grounds and building are beautiful and well maintained with historical charm. The grounds were worth exploring with beautiful greenery, stone benches, and water features. The hard cover pavilion was the perfect spot for an outdoor wedding with protection from the rainy day. For a wedding of about 60 guests there was more than enough space. Inside, a lovely gathering room and bar area were comfortable for the time before and in between the festivities. The bridal party had a large cellar area to get ready. The bathrooms were conveniently located in between the ceremony site and reception room. The food here was absolutely amazing and truly on par with a meal at a fine dining restaurant. I live in Las Vegas and it was like eating at a fine restaurant here. The service was over the top with perfect timing and professionalism. The whole service team would line up to serve and remove courses at the same time. The attention to detail really added something to the event. Zero proof cocktails were offered to non-drinkers and the two children in attendance were provided special meals. Our meal started with Caesar Salads. It was one of the best Caesar salads I've ever had and a hearty portion. The Parker house rolls were warm and buttery. The Beef meal had delicious slices of tender beef, crispy potatoes, and green beans. The kid's meal was really tasty with both healthy options and foods kids typically love. The venue was on top of accommodating food allergies by asking each guest if they had allergies before the meal. The groom has food allergies and he was able to enjoy a lovely meal that evening. The Apiary sent an already beautiful event over the top. My brother and his wife made a fantastic choice in where to celebrate their big day.

We used them for our wedding this past October (2018) and had them cater food for our venue and bartend our event. We supplied our alcohol for our event (three full-size kegs, an enormous amount of wine, and about 30 bottles of champagne). They were more than happy to serve our host-sponsored alcohol and also kept a menu of hard liquor for the cash bar portion of our event. They had a menu for our provided beers and wines that guests could view. The number of bartenders was perfect and people were not waiting around for drinks. They even had a bartender or just a person who would grab my wife and I our preferred drinks if they saw our cups were empty or that we were waiting in line. Additionally, for our wedding party and ourselves - we were able to stock the bar with our preferred hard liquor without any issues. They set it aside for us and were more than happy to keep it behind the bar. They treated our guests well and I really enjoyed the bartenders - they had a lot of fun and made sure our guests did the same. For our food, we did a breakfast bar. Pancakes with cinnamon apples, blueberries, and chocolate chips; biscuits and white pepper gravy or assorted jams/jellies, pimento cheese, roasted potatoes, bacon, scrambled eggs, and seasonal fruits. I didn't really eat much at the wedding to be honest BUT I did hear we had like nothing left over and that our guests really enjoyed the food! The tasting we did prior to our wedding was really nice and the food tasted good then (so I could only imagine it tasted the same or better when the wedding occurred). The only downside was that we didn't get any to-go food for us which I was kinda bummed about. My matron of honor was literally following me around on the dance floor and tables feeding me bacon because I hadn't had a chance to eat. The company was even more than happy to set up our coffee and donuts that we had ordered from North Lime as our "cake". They did a pretty solid job. They were easy to work with. Responded quickly. Sat down with us at some of our final venue walk throughs to talk about "our perfect wedding" goals, and even helped us out when we ran into issues. They were more than happy to help us out with the kegs and were polite with our requests on which kegs went first and not to just pop the top on all the wine. Logan was our main point of contact and she was perfect. She was hilarious and easy to reach - let us know when she was around in the days leading up to our wedding and even told us to reach out if we had ANY questions or concerns in those few days before. She made this portion of our wedding stress free. Wedding food doesn't have to suck and they proved that to me and mostly my guests.lol
