These guys know there stuff! So knowledgeable and go into great detail! We learned a lot and were really impressed! That grounds are great! Would be a fun place to host a bachelor party! Huge outside fire place, plenty of seating and a beautiful bar with cute servers! For food we grabbed a bag of their peanut brittle and we all loved it!!

We finally checked Wild Turkey off our Bourbon Trail list, and it was absolutely worth the stop. Whether you're a fan of their bourbon or not, the views from the distillery alone make the trip worthwhile. The scenery is stunning. Of course, we didn't come just for the views--we came to taste the whiskey. My wife, our two traveling companions, and I signed up for the Wild Turkey Premium Bourbon Tasting. Thanks to our fantastic host, we had a great time sampling four different Wild Turkey offerings. Choosing a favorite was honestly the hardest part. After learning about and enjoying the various bourbons, we headed to the gift shop, where my wife found more than a few must-have items. We wrapped up our visit by relaxing on the outdoor deck, taking in the beautiful views of the bridge over the Kentucky River. A great stop on the trail--highly recommend!

This was our second time here first time to the new distillery and it is gorgeous. Bo was our tour guide and he did an amazing job sharing the history of the place, whiskey and some personal stories about the Russell's. I am also happy to say, no mention of 51% corn, new American oak... We booked the Born from the Barrel btw. We got a tour via bus and by feet of the original rickhouse, one of the oldest buildings on the property (Actual where we met Jimmy Russel on our last tour) and finished it off with a tasting of the older stuff. Not to mention, an option to buy Russell's 13 year. Which I of course did. Overall an outstanding time and definitely one of my favorite tours of a legacy distillery.

My husband and I toured here with our friends during a trip to Louisville a couple weekends ago. My husband and I stopped to use the restroom on the way to the distillery and then our estimated arrival changed to be 4 minutes behind our tour start. I had tried to call ahead of time to see what our options were, but could not find a phone number on Google or my email with our ticket confirmation, so we assumed that we would just miss the entire tour. However, the staff were so kind and accommodating and had the bus come back to pick us up so we could meet the rest of our group when they came out from the distillery part of the tour and join in for the rick house portion. The property is beautiful and I especially loved the outside patio area where you can take cocktails or pours of bourbon outside to sip in the sun. They have a great variety of items in the gift shop and the place was spotless. My best friend and I each got a manhattan with a cherry (we didn't love how mushy the cherries were though) and our husbands got pours of bourbon. The only thing I didn't care for was the "joke" our tour guide made comparing his ex-wife to the bitter taste of a bourbon left too long in the barrel during the rick house portion. Not one person laughed and he joked that "no one caught his joke." Someone else in the group said "no, we all understood it" aka it was not funny. I really hope he doesn't try to make this a regular "joke" during his tours, but he said it was only his third week and hopefully he was just testing stuff out.

Top notch. The tour was thorough. Enjoyed learning so much about the history and the process. Our guide was knowledgeable and made it fun at the same time. Visitor Center, patios, gift shop, bar and tasting rooms are gorgeous. Super modern vibe. Beautiful setting to enjoy really good bourbon. Tasting and tour here was a treat! Def recommend.

    American Honey

American Honey: Wild Turkey's beginnings date back to 1869 when the Ripy brothers opened the family distillery on Wild Turkey Hill in Lawrenceburg, KY. The original recipe for American Honey wasn't crafted until over 100 years later in the 1970's by Wild Turkey distiller Jimmy Russell. Beginning with the bottle, I have to say that I love the design, which is both simple and elegant. Only complaint is I wish there was something that made it stand out more as a honey whiskey, such as an image of a bee. As expected, it has a sweet honey flavor and aroma accompanied by a burning kick from the whiskey. I enjoyed it both neat and mixed with a diet cola. Texturally, it has a somewhat thicker mouthfeel than other whiskies, but not to the point where it's syrupy like schnapps. American Honey is 71 proof and 35.5%alc/vol. I also appreciate that they are transparent with the nutritional information. The added sugar brings a 1.5oz serving to 143 calories. If you have a sweet tooth like me, check this out for your next buzz (pun intended). Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews 4.5 but will round to 5

    The charcuterie board- delicious!

Such a fun stop! We got a drink from the bar (you get to keep the glass- win!) and ordered a charcuterie board to eat on the patio. The drinks and food were excellent and the patio had a lovely view! Highly recommend for a stop even if you don't take a tour

Must stop when you're on the bourbon trail. Even if you're not a wild turkey fan this place has some killer views where you can sit and enjoy some bourbon. The staff was nice and attentive and helped me choose a bottle I couldn't find in Florida. Will come back and do a tour.

We were looking forward to seeing the new distillery and visitor center on our trip back to Bardstown. What a beautiful job! Dwight was our tour guide and he was amazing - knowledgeable, interesting, funny and overall nice guy! He was very passionate about Wild Turkey and all of the brands they sell. Before our tour we tried the Russell 13 year (unable to purchase) at the bar above the gift shop. It was so smooth and if you can find it, grab it!! Make sure you add this stop to your next trip!

Great distillery with a good tour and fun places to drink bourbon. The master distillers are usually around and will sign bottles. Very friendly staff and the visitors center is inviting and cool to hang out in. I visit every time I'm in Tucky

This was one of three stops that we went on during a bourbon tour that we selected where we booked three distilleries. This was our third stop. It was our third tasting and we chose this place because someone in our group wanted to go here. It was the most disappointing of the three we chose. It was by far the shortest of all our tours/tastings and felt it was the least personal. It was also only 30 minutes long and felt rushed like "if you want to buy go to the gift shop vibe". It also felt the most corporate of all the tastings we were on. When I found out that they were corporately owned, it all made sense because something was seriously missing IMHO here. The ambience is impressive because they spent a lot of money on this place. I personally was not impressed, but that's just me. It had a nice view of the river. We had a tasting of the 13 year and were told we couldn't buy it ( probably to create a FOMO effect) although read a review of someone a month ago when this was available. IMHO the corporate people running this place are massively failing in the hospitality aspect and the FOMO effect isn't working because it's not genuine or transparent. It's an ultimate fail. I would give this a 3.5 rating and was more disappointing than I expected. Rounding up but not sure why. IMHO I would definitely skip this place. What I learned on this trip is that the smaller places are SO much better!

Two thumbs way up for the production tour ($25) at Wild Turkey. It may be the most comprehensive distillery tour we've ever taken. Don't take that to mean that it was boring--It was totally engaging. Tyler was our guide and he knows his stuff. The place is spread out so they drive you from the visitor center to the distilling building to the rick house and back to the visitor center. And in case you didn't hear, the visitor center is new and gorgeous--check out the photos. The tour ends with a tasting that is really generous in its portions. Combine that with the fact that I drank my wife's servings and let's just say it hit the spot. Wild turkey is a real standout among the many distillery tours we've done.

Wild Turkey Distillery is always a must-stop for us. The atmosphere is welcoming, calm, and incredibly relaxing--perfect for slowing down and enjoying the experience. The drinks were fantastic, and getting to take the glass home as a souvenir was a great touch. We make it a point to stop every time we're in town, and it never disappoints.

The bourbons here are quite good and the pours and flights are reasonably priced, but what really sets this place apart is the staff. Every person we encountered was committed to making our experience fantastic. They were attentive without being smothering and everyone we spoke to was knowledgeable and a real brand ambassador. The owner of this brand should be very proud and if my experience was any indicator of things to come, it won't be long before Larrikin is mentioned in the same breath with other more established top shelf bourbons. I had zero plans to stop here didn't even know it existed until I drove past it on my way to the big, shiny distillery next door. But while I was over there, I kept wondering what I'd missed. So, curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to swing back around. And wow, I'm glad I did. This spot turned out to be a total win. It's small, laid-back, and veteran-owned. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. You can grab a flight or a cocktail (I tried both), and there's plenty of seating at the bar in the back room. The front area doubles as a gift shop, so you can pick up a bottle or two to take home highly recommend doing that too. It's not the biggest distillery around, but that's part of its charm. It was a really nice surprise on my bourbon trail travels, and I'm so glad I decided to check it out. Sometimes the unplanned stops end up being the best ones!

There are two buildings and you check in at the one building, near a parking lot, but then get on a tour bus and they take you to the other building, which has the gift shop. It seemed a bit counterintuitive to start at the other building, then. Before this, I was super hungry, so we went to their bar area in the gift shop and ordered the charcuterie, which ended up just being like a metal box with some meats, cheeses, and other things, and a bag with a few pretzels in it. Disappointing especially for $33, although it kinda worked out because we only had a half-hour before the tour. I didn't know that Woodford Reserve has actually only been around since 1996 but the campus they purchased has buildings from 1890 and later - I would've loved to have heard more about that history even though it wasn't technically Woodford's. At the end of the tour, they return you to the gift shop and that's where you do the tasting - there is a private tasting room. I should probably note that we did the basic tour - it was $35 and my husband said you could get a similar tasting to the one we got, in the gift shop area, for $30, which made the tour only $5, which isn't bad. I did end up buying a pin, a magnet, and a sampler box of their bourbon treats (chocolates etc. - expensive, at $46 or so, but looks good) and my husband bought a few of their bottles. However, next time we are in Louisville we can probably skip this one, I'm thinking.

We timed it with lunch at The Bar at Willett and were so glad we did, the food was amazing. Our tour guide was a very knowledgeable and friendly young gal, the only issue was she seemed to be in a hurry. I understand timelines and we can't stay out there forever but there's got to be a better way to stay on track than checking your watch every 5 minutes! Her energy and enthusiasm sprinkled with a good sense of humor definitely added a nice touch to the otherwise generic tour. Thank goodness for one of the testers, he let us dip our fingers in the mash ton, something we learned to do on several other tours we've taken. It's a nice "odd" thing to offer, making for a more unique tour. The whiskey is good and the tastings are average pours with the price being average for a full tour. We enjoyed our time at Willett and would definitely visit again for the restaurant!
