Bourbon was our food! It was an amazing tour! Everyone is courteous and friendly. I love the atmosphere and coziness of the distillery. The history is so unique! I'd definitely visit again!

Great tour, very interesting and informative. Wonderful bourbon staff are all very friendly and helpful.

Four Roses was another stop we were excited to check off our Bourbon Trail list, and it did not disappoint. We arrived a bit early and decided to pop into a nearby coffee shop instead of waiting in the car. When we came back at our scheduled time, we walked into a gorgeous, impressive venue. The gift shop was large, inviting, and full of great merchandise. After checking in and getting our tickets for the Taste of History experience, we browsed around while waiting for our tasting to begin. My wife and our travel companions even found a few "must-have" items to take home. When it was time, we were led into the tasting room--spacious, beautifully designed, and perfectly matching the style of the gift shop. We sampled four different bourbon expressions while our excellent host guided us through the history and flavor profiles of each one. Like many tastings I've attended, choosing a favorite was nearly impossible--they were all unique and delicious. By the end, we walked out with a couple of new bottles and plenty of conversation about which pours we loved most. A great stop on the trail and well worth the visit!

I looooove the Spanish-inspired architecture since it's so unique for the area! Walking was reasonable and not tiring. The refreshing cocktail (strawberry lemonade?) they provided for the tour was delicious! It was provided in a reusable customized cup, intentionally looking like a solo cup with a sippy-cup lid. *A couple people "dribbled" when trying to sip, though. Cute souvenir! We were provided with a headset to listen to the tour guide as she wore a headset and gave the tour. She recited the script and was gorgeous but the presentation lacked personality. The tasting was fine, but wasn't anything special, imo. Except I love the souvenir glass - that was unique! And it the host even suggested using the bottom as a cookie stamp and I actually do want to try it!

My friends and I chose to do the Bourbon Trail in Kentucky for our annual get-together, and Four Roses was our final stop of the trip--and it did not disappoint. The grounds were beautifully maintained, creating a great first impression. The tour was very informative, and the tasting was superb. I'm really glad we had the chance to visit and see how one of my favorite bourbons is made. A perfect way to end our Bourbon Trail experience.

We have been to the Louisville area many times and never made it to Four Roses. Located in Lawrenceburg, this is a first class operation. We signed up for their 30 minute tasting and overview experience and it was fantastic. As soon as you enter you check in and are given tickets. It is advised you arrive at least 15 minutes prior . You can walk around and look at some of their displays, shop in their gift store or have a drink at their Bar 1888.. Drinks are allowed on the tours. We each ordered a drink..old fashion and a mint julip since it was Derby week. It came with a souvenir glass but it was pricey. After the tour and tasting (4),we shopped a little bit and enjoyed our drinks on the outside patio overlooking the distillery grounds A fantastic way to spend an afternoon in Kentucky.

We just finished a tour with Mary Frances as our guide. She is so knowledgeable and helpful, her sense of humor adds a special element that made our tour so enjoyable. The grounds are amazing. The Distillery room did not disappoint & us a must to see. We highly recommend a tour with Mary Frances and the bourbon well, speaks for itself!

Loved visiting Four Roses Distillery. Driving onto the property I felt like we were on a Southern Plantation. The rolling hills & green grass made me want to sit & relax in the rocking chairs on the big front porch! This was our 1st tour of 3 last Wednesday. Our guide was clear & very knowledgeable. Appreciated the headsets! & our Bourbon sampling was so good too! Loved the gift shop & bought a bottle of Single Barrel and can't wait to open it! (Even bought the large rose ice cube tray! Had to have those!!! ) We had always talked about visiting Kentucky on our way 'Up North' from Phoenix; this year it was going to work! So glad it finally did ! Learned about the various ratios of ingredients and saw the 'yeast' room & got a free facial! Haha! Great job Four Roses!!

Our first time here so we pre-booked the History tour and tasting which we really enjoyed. Gwen was so informative and funny. The decor was elegant and the atmosphere relaxed for sipping on a cocktail both inside the bar or outside catching a breeze on the porch.

Wonderful tasting at Four Roses Distillery after KBF! Got to sample the 2024 limited at the bar. They had from 2019-2025, but we were able to pick up a couple signed bottlesby Brent Elliot at the festival. After the tasting experience I can say I have a new found openness to the FR entry bottle which is aged 6-7yrs, but could have much older juice. I've converted to Four Roses from BT.

I had a wonderful experience here as I caught the last tasting tour of the day and was the only one! The tasting included four of their bourbons and a tour of one of their rick houses. It was about 40 minutes or so overall. I learned a great deal about four roses and thoroughly enjoyed all four bourbons. I'm not sure if I ever had four roses before but I am certainly a fan now. I'll be adding them to my bourbon collection.

A positive experience. The Welcome Center is huge and very well decorated with a nice Gift Shop. The whole campus is a lovely Spanish motif. We took a tour of the facilities and the guide was very informative. She was a wealth of information! The tastings afterwards were well explained in a very nice tasting room. They also have a great chart explaining the nuances of their various bourbons. Unlike most other distilleries, they offered oyster crackers and water to cleanse the pallet. An eye dropper for water was also provided to open up the bourbon after first tasting w/out the water before drinking it with a few drops of water to taste the difference. Great touches. Finally, a distillery that did not have a restaurant, but provided cheese and pretzels, and cheese and cold cut meats for purchase . These distilleries are far apart and rarely have any restaurants/food to purchase nearby. We found ourselves hungry at a couple of distilleries with no availability of food. This is a wonderful touch! The other distilleries should take note. My only suggestion would be that the bar offer tastings for a fixed price as opposed to having to buy a full glass of bourbon without being able to sample just one type.

Ask the Community - Four Roses Distillery

Can children accompany you for a drink in Bar 1888?

As I recall, there were children accompanying their parents at tables in the bar area. Of course, there were plenty of helpful Four Roses employees in the visitor center and they would be able to tell you for sure.

Do you have to take a tour just to do a tasting? We only want to do tasting

Some tours offer just tasting. You need to inquire with the distillery to determine when they offer just tastings.

The bourbons here are quite good and the pours and flights are reasonably priced, but what really sets this place apart is the staff. Every person we encountered was committed to making our experience fantastic. They were attentive without being smothering and everyone we spoke to was knowledgeable and a real brand ambassador. The owner of this brand should be very proud and if my experience was any indicator of things to come, it won't be long before Larrikin is mentioned in the same breath with other more established top shelf bourbons. I had zero plans to stop here didn't even know it existed until I drove past it on my way to the big, shiny distillery next door. But while I was over there, I kept wondering what I'd missed. So, curiosity got the best of me, and I decided to swing back around. And wow, I'm glad I did. This spot turned out to be a total win. It's small, laid-back, and veteran-owned. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. You can grab a flight or a cocktail (I tried both), and there's plenty of seating at the bar in the back room. The front area doubles as a gift shop, so you can pick up a bottle or two to take home highly recommend doing that too. It's not the biggest distillery around, but that's part of its charm. It was a really nice surprise on my bourbon trail travels, and I'm so glad I decided to check it out. Sometimes the unplanned stops end up being the best ones!

The initial impression as you pull into Wild Turkey is that this is a manufacturing and industrial site first and foremost. While that does take away from the initial "wow factor" as a guest, it is understandable. Once you get past that, you arrive at the visitor center, which has a view that is absolutely incredible and outdoor amenities that would make hanging out there quite enjoyable. Unfortunately, the inside experience at the gift shop left much to be desired. We did not do the tour, so this is only based on the visitor center and retail experience. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly face and directed toward the gift shop. The bartender was friendly, but the other three employees had their heads buried in their phones and did not seem concerned with our experience or offering help. While that may not be unexpected in some places, at a location like this, especially after visiting Buffalo Trace earlier in the day, it felt very subpar. The bottle selection on the shelf was fairly standard and did not feel much different from what I could find at a local liquor store. Some prices also seemed higher than local shops. Of the 15+ bottles we purchased today, none were from here. We considered trying a flight or a few samples, but the prices felt more reminiscent of a downtown bar than a distillery tasting experience. While we were not on a budget, the feeling of being overcharged deterred us from moving forward with the samples we had been interested in. I will not say that I would never go back, but I would not put this at the top of our Bourbon Trail list either, unless maybe for the views and a picnic.

There are two buildings and you check in at the one building, near a parking lot, but then get on a tour bus and they take you to the other building, which has the gift shop. It seemed a bit counterintuitive to start at the other building, then. Before this, I was super hungry, so we went to their bar area in the gift shop and ordered the charcuterie, which ended up just being like a metal box with some meats, cheeses, and other things, and a bag with a few pretzels in it. Disappointing especially for $33, although it kinda worked out because we only had a half-hour before the tour. I didn't know that Woodford Reserve has actually only been around since 1996 but the campus they purchased has buildings from 1890 and later - I would've loved to have heard more about that history even though it wasn't technically Woodford's. At the end of the tour, they return you to the gift shop and that's where you do the tasting - there is a private tasting room. I should probably note that we did the basic tour - it was $35 and my husband said you could get a similar tasting to the one we got, in the gift shop area, for $30, which made the tour only $5, which isn't bad. I did end up buying a pin, a magnet, and a sampler box of their bourbon treats (chocolates etc. - expensive, at $46 or so, but looks good) and my husband bought a few of their bottles. However, next time we are in Louisville we can probably skip this one, I'm thinking.
