Ok I waited for this review mainly due to the service on the first visit. This place is huge! Social distancing should not be an issue but felt kinda squeezed in on this visit. The service was better the second time even with the training server in tow. The first visit food wise was better than the second! The Gertrude burger on the first visit was very good just slightly more done than requested. The potato poppers were interesting but hot and well done. The Ruben was good but the house made chips were to die for! Now on this most recent visit I will have to say the best part was the cheddar bacon ranch fries! The iced tea was just ok, do not know where they get the tea leave but it has an odd after taste. The pizza (menu states a 25 minute wait when ordering pizza) was not worth the wait! My other half stated it reminded her of the iconic Chef Boyardee pizza in a box! She was not wrong! Salt pepper added Parmesan cheese helped some hit the sauce had no flavor! I stopped in here on the recommendation of a friend and I'm really glad that I did! They have moved to a new location but still on Main Street in Georgetown on the other side of the courthouse from the old location. The menu is fairly simple and the choices all look tasty. I chose the philly steak and cheese with cheese fries! It did not disappoint. It was better than any philly I've had in this part of the country for a long time. The bar is a copper top that wraps around the server with large TVs everywhere to watch the game or just chill and relax. The rest of the restaurant is open with cozy seating. I also spoke with the owner who shared a little of the history with me and the location. It's my first time here but will not be my last. It's worth the drive from Lexington for those who might be up in the air or have heard good things. Come check it out! read more

We were on a road trip and wanted some pizza so we turned to trusty yelp and found this spot.... It turned out to be a great choice... We ordered the homemade chips for an appetizer. They were hot, fresh, light, and somewhat crispy. It also comes with a side of their cattleman's sauce which is great! For the main course we ordered a half and half pizza which is half of what I wanted and half of what she wanted... The pizza takes about 25 minutes to make because it's fresh, which is something we appreciated. With that wait time we were glad we got the chips to start... When the pizza came out it was piping hot and ready to be devoured.. The crust was thin and had a great butter flavor... No complaints.. Galvins is really a local staple in Georgetown. They have amazing appetizers and cheesesteaks but everything on the menu is pretty good so you can't go wrong. Our favorites include the wings, jalapeño poppers, potato poppers, Stromboli, and Philly cheesesteak. They also have 36 beers on tap so you'll definitely be able to find one you like. How does this place have 4 stars? Seriously - HOW? We stopped here on the way to Georgia and started with nachos... Where can I start, I would have preferred Tostitos cheese to the strange liquid poured on the nachos, the red sauce was just gross, the jalapeños were canned, and the salsa on the side was the worst tasting salsa I've ever had. Truly, the vile taste of that salsa will haunt me for the rest of my life. The meatball sandwich came next, and thankfully it wasn't as bad as the nachos, but was about as mediocre as it gets. Good grief, I could have gotten a much better meatball at Subway, and a really good meatball at Firehouse Subs... but that's besides the point, it was bland - it just made me feel like I wasted about 300 calories on half a sub. The fries my brother got were so hard that his baby tooth came loose, and my dad's burger in his own words "tasted like one of the Sam's Club frozen burgers that come in packs of 100". The only consumable thing at this restaurant that was up to par was my glass of water... I guess you can be proud of that? The service was fine, but the food was ungodly terrible and I can't bear the burden of influencing someone to come here by giving it 2 stars. Don't feed me that crap of it being 'fresh', it's not - and even if it was, the food would still suck. In conclusion, HOW did this restaurant get 4 stars? This place looks interesting but was a bit of a letdown. It's pretty, it's loud and the food is pretty good. It was kinda pricey. We didn't have the best waitress. We asked for the drink specials and was told they were, "two or three dollars". Okay, we'll take the medium one. We asked what the soup special was, we were told it was white chicken chili...yesterday, then stood there staring at us as if we could make a decision based on what the soup was yesterday. We asked a second time but she forgot to check finally found out it was just chicken noodle. They have these awesome potato sticks on the appetizer menu, they are unique and tasty. You can dip them in ranch or sour cream, both were good. The spinach and artichoke dip was really good too. Philly steak Stromboli was pretty good. It takes 25 min. to cook as stated in the menu and I was also reminded by the waitress before ordering. We were eating appetizers anyway, what's 25 min.? It was pretty much like a calzone but juice was dripping out everywhere making the outside very soggy. My husband got the meaty stombolli, he felt very sick after. My daughter got this huge beautiful burger but she didn't find it tasty. She ended up dissecting it only eating bits of it. A very nice little bar & grill. Honestly it's very, VERY good for a small town like Georgetown. When you step inside, it's much more like a place you'd expect to find in Lexington or Louisville than in a small town. It's got a nice menu, mostly of pizza, burgers and sandwiches. It's also got a huge beer selection. Service was friendly and attentive. The Philly cheesesteak I had was tasty and filling, and not too greasy. In the interest of being thorough, a downside I noted was the seating I was given was rather odd. Despite a crowded and busy dining room, I was seated way off in another part of the restaurant by myself. I could see empty seats in the main dining room but was still seated, as a party of one, far away from everyone else. Overall it's a good place to get a bite to eat, watch the game, and get a brew. This was my second visit to Galvins. It was just as enjoyable as the first. I've found that the Georgetown Downtown area isn't a well visited by the college students as it should be! If you go to Georgetown College make a point to go by Galvins! From pizza to burgers, you will NOT be disappointed! I've taken two coworkers to this restaurant and both were very pleased. The restroom even has tvs in the urinals! Can beat that! Hah The only improvement that Galvins could use is some parking space! I understand it's not there fault since they are downtown but if you are ok parking at the jail, it's only a short walk to Galvins. And I'm fairly sure that it's probably one of the more secure lots in town! Hah So stop in and enjoy a bite to eat. All staff was pleasant to deal with and prices are fair. read more

The service is excellent and very friendly. The food came out fresh and hot and the aroma was mouth watering. My wife had the Reuben sandwich while our daughter and myself tried the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. Both were served with a generous helping of home made potato chips. I was able to try the Reuben as well as my own and both were delicious and the mixture of beef and sauce on the Philly and sour kraut were done to perfection.
