Our 2nd time here. Food is really good. I ordered heuvous rancheros with scrambled eggs and I loved every bite. The verde salsa added the right amount of acid. Hubby ordered a traditional fried eggs, bacon, sausage and gravy. He cleaned his plate. Our server was very friendly. Cute decor with photos of dogs all around. Chris is awesome! What a great restaurant we stumbled upon on our way back to South Florida. Ambience was fantastic! The food was hot and excellent! We even got to try out a Wild rice mushroom soup they were having that day! ( must be on the menu!!!) Breakfast all day (opens at 7-3; closed Tuesday) with lunch items from 10:30. We had huevos rancheros (which were excellent; puffy corn tortillas + lots of veggies, avocado, refritos & two salsas, and eggs) and combo breakfast, which my wife thought was "meh"... she will try something else next time. Other menu items looked great... unfortunately, service was so slow that I think we saw everything on the menu as we waited. Hopefully, they will get a grip on a pace that supports the crowds- until then, avoid peak lunchtime on Saturday and Sunday. Winchester needed another place and this one has lots of promise. This was my first time trying this place. I came in for a brunch. I got the huevos rancheros and my boyfriend ordered 2 eggs, over easy, and some types of bacon (idk im not a meat eater) and biscuits and gravy. Well the problems started once we put in our order. They took sooooo long. The service was almost non-existent and whenever we did talk to our server it was just mediocre. It wasnt very busy in there either so they mustve been understaffed. When they finally did give us our food it tasted good but, they gave me a piece of chicken in mine (as i mentioned not a meat eater) and I also bit into either a lime seed or the top stem part of an avocado. It was bitter and nasty. Also my boyfriend ordered over easy eggs and they gave him scrambled ones covered in cheese? Well just gave up and ate them because we had waited so long we were so hungry. What a disappointment! We were visiting family in Winchester and opted for breakfast at Lucky Dog. Found a seat immediately, took over an hour to get our food and it was served cold! Our bill was $67 for four adults and a toddler. No one checked on us, returned for refills or explained why it was taking so long. Several parties left while waiting for someone to acknowledge them. We are regulars for breakfast at Lucky Dog Cafe and it's by far our favorite in Winchester AND the surrounding area! They have budget friendly specials during the week and an awesome diverse breakfast menu on the weekends. Their coffee is also excellent. The place is clean and decorated so cute! Stopped in the Lucky Dog Cafe on our way home from Lexington KY for lunch. Easy access, free street parking and easy to find. Nice little local cafe, clean, friendly and inviting. We had a seat and I noticed no one at any table had food so I knew that was a red flag but I didn't mind , I give anybody a chance first time around . The door was scotched open, so flies flew around the restaurant and around the tables. We got a burger and a Philly . The waitress didn't pay attention to my wife who wanted hers without lettuce and tomato so, an hour later, yes an hour, the food finally came. It was all frozen . Frozen patties, frozen fries, frozen home fries , just disappointing for $35 . We watched people walk out while we waited also but we hung in there till end. Came here based on a recommendation from a local. Seemed like a cute place and was bustling. However, service was terrible. We were ignored completely for 10 minutes after being seated. We got our orders in and waited 30 minutes. Our waitress came back finally to say that our food would be out soon. We waited another 20 minutes and still had no food, obviously misled. We received no further service and decided to leave. We were also on a schedule for the day and could not wait any longer, even if we wanted to. Very disappointing. Even tables that were seated before we arrived were still without food, even as the crowd had drastically died down. Went there for the first time this morning with my family who had been there once before. They had warned me that last time they went, the service was horrible but the food and atmosphere was great so they wanted to give it a 2nd chance. Well when we arrived it looked like there was only one waitress who was serving about 8 different tables and there were maybe 2 cooks in the back. We still wanted to give it a shot so we sat down and it took forever for us to get even just our drink orders in. I felt bad for the waitress and know it's not her fault because she was taking care of every table there, taking phone calls, bussing tables, and checking people out all by herself. Every table around us also seemed aggravated by how long it was taking. When the food finally arrived it was great! Everyone enjoyed their meals but we all felt unsure if we would go back just because of how long it took and how short staffed they were. I don't know if they just aren't hiring people or maybe aren't paying their staff enough to keep them but I don't know how they are going to stay open when people aren't getting good service. I did give them a 4/5 star review because the food and atmosphere was exceptional! read more

Finally made it to Lucky Dog Cafe. My grandson took us there for lunch one day. I love that you can get breakfast all day long - I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes. They brought me a stock of three big enough to fill a dinner plate so I couldn't eat them all but they were very good. My grandson and granddaughter got the chicken and waffles and she let me taste her chicken. I think the chicken planks may be in my future! LOL! We enjoyed our meal and the service was very good though the food was a bit slow getting there but the place had several customers and we were not in a hurry so no complaints really.
