Gave Doodles a few more tries and am thrilled to report my experience was much improved. Lunch was reasonably priced and yummy - fresh ingredients, bright flavors, and a decent, but not overwhelming, number of choices. My second attempt at breakfast was much improved and I found the food to be much more flavorful this time around. Decent crowd when I arrived but things moved along quickly. Staff did a nice job of transitioning tables and making sure seats were open as quickly as possible. Expect a wait on weekends at breakfast and during lunch hours - but this isn't shocking. We had our first Doodles experience recently, and it definitely lived up to the local buzz. When you walk in, there's a big menu on the wall in a small waiting area. After a couple of minutes, someone asked if it was our first time. Maybe the wide eyes gave us away. We were told to order at the counter and then find a seat, so expect more of a fast‑casual setup rather than full service, which was totally fine for us. The only slightly awkward part is being prompted for a tip before you've actually received your food or experienced the service. Once we sat down, though, the food came out quickly and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. It was a particularly cold day when we visited, and it was a bit chilly inside. A cute breakfast place feels like a college place. Ordered pancakes, eggs, and bacon. The food was good, but not excellent. Because someone mentioned that they can make pancakes crispy, I requested crispy pancakes, but they came out just darker than usual not crispy. Great little casual breakfast place close to campus with parking. You order at the counter, then sit and they bring the food to your table. It's mostly standard breakfast items, but a few interesting adds, like beignets and side item options that include spicy fries or cheese grits. We tried a few different items. For me, it was the BELT, basically a BLT was egg and cheese grits as the side. It was pretty good. I'm glad I tried the grits, although they weren't quite my thing. Others ordered the Cure breakfast with fries, a breakfast sandwich with breakfast potatoes and the Little Egg Doodle. Everyone enjoyed our food and we compared it with breakfast the day before (I rated 5 stars) and we were mixed on which meal was better. For me, this is solid 4. My girls said the bacon was really good. The place is old fashioned cozy, but nothing special inside. Wood table felt a little sticky. You get coffee or drinks yourself and water/soda is a large acrylic glass. Nothing wrong with any of that, but you get the feel. Menu is good, food is solid, service is fast, and prices are reasonable. The beignets were good, because it's a beignet and who doesn't like a warm doughnut with powdered sugar, but it wasn't a great beignet, just a decent one. I love local Lex restaurants but Doodles was a dud. The biscuits and gravy lacked flavor, the biscuits seemed like smashed rolls, and the over easy eggs were overcooked. An almost completely self service establishment located in a really cool refurbished automobile garage that asks for a tip when you order your meal at the counter. That is annoying. The food is very well prepared and I loved my Doodle (it's a popeyed egg with a biscuit). It was so good we went out of our way to visit a second time. Great breakfast place in Lexington. Sometimes it does gets crowded, so do expect a line. Most of the times the lines goes quick. You order up front and then you go and pick a table. Doodles has your standard breakfast/brunch menu items but with a few fun twists. I thought the prices were fair for the amount of food you get. I was a bit bummed that the lunch menu was only available during the week so I'll need to go back to try it out. I tried the breakfast biscuit sandwich and it was delicious. My boyfriend had some strawberry jam of some sorts with his biscuit and it was so good, I highly recommend it if you get a biscuit. We opted for patio seating and there was plenty of open tables. This place has been on my bucket list forever . And it's within walking distance from our house ! (Which could be a bad thing because the food is THAT good). As you enter there's a small room to the left which I'm not sure what it's used for but you can see the menu on a giant poster board . They have numbered plaques you take your table and they bring the food to you. We decided to sit on the outdoor patio which you can't see from the parking lot. But they do have an exit so that you don't have to walk through the restaurant to get back out . The server who came out to the outdoor patio was friendly as well. He came back more then once to check on us . I had biscuits and gravy with two eggs over easy and potatoes with coffee and a glass of grapefruit juice. My friend had "The Cure" platter which was two eggs over easy, potatoes, sausage and toast . (She said the toast was perfect.) She also had orange juice. The coffee is self serve and I have to say it was one of the best cups of coffee I've had . We both thought the food was really good. Backstory: Due to conflicting scheduling the misses had to grab breakfast without us earlier in the day. So me and the kiddo are in the hotel room and she FaceTimes me from Doodles. She's ranting and raving about the biscuits and gravy and her dining experience like Jesus came back. She then drops this dime: "Next time I come back I'm gonna try their shrimp and grits or their corned beef hash." After hearing all this I'm thinking this place might be good and to give them a go. Nevertheless I knew I didn't want shrimp and grits because I had seafood the night prior, and knew I didn't want biscuits and gravy because I had Biscuit Belly earlier in our trip as well. Review: Me and the kiddo get there without the misses due to her business commitments. We walk into the vestibule and there are a few people sitting down and a worker behind the counter. Worker says nothing. No "hello," or "hey how ya doing" nothing. More people walk in so now there's a line. Me and the kiddo are still standing there. Still nothing said to anyone waiting in the lobby. Finally after about 10 mins of waiting I ask the worker "Is this where you order?" He says "No, this is for door dash only." WTF. We've never been here before. Where are the signs? I take two steps to the right to a register and finally order and off to the table we go. I ordered the Beignets, Corned Beef Hash with a biscuit and scrambled eggs with cheese and an apple juice. They brought out the beignets first which were pretty darn good. I've been to Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans and their beignets are a solid facsimile not exact but strongly solid. The Apple Juice seemed freshly pressed maybe as it's flavor, look, and texture was unlike anything I've seen or tasted out of grocery store in the past. The corned beef hash was TERRIBLE. It was shredded and chopped up to death to the point where it was like eating the consistency of grated Parmesan cheese and there were bits of carrots in it. WHO dices up carrots in corned beef hash? Is this a Kentucky cultural thing? Outside of the carrots the minuscule corned beef shavings in the hash was tough and dry as well. Another reviewer mentioned that their eggs were over cooked also. I kept up hope that this was the EXCEPTION AND NOT THE RULE BUT LOW AND BEHOLD the eggs were eviscerated, over cooked, over done, and beat to death with scarcely any cheese in it. As you can see by the pictures I didn't get scrambled with cheese but some type of overcooked quasi-omelet thingy. I told my wife about our dining experience and she says: "Oh yeah I meant to tell you AFTER our FaceTime that the eggs were miserable and not good at all." DAFUQ? Why lie to me to have me go here with an active toddler to stand around for 10 mins with no communication from staff of where to order, to get served an odd breakfast with carrot beef hash and barely any cheese eggs beat up to the point they have PTSD from the ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU? The biscuit was big, dense, and DRY and the apple juice was a MUST to wash it down. Hiding a bad biscuit with sausage gravy is not a good thing as the taste of the biscuit should stand by itself alone as being tasty without being hidden by gravy. The only thing good was the Apple juice, sausage Pattie's, and beignets. Everybody ranting and raving about this place must be hungover UK students with underdeveloped palates. After returning home from our trip, due to the wife's FaceTime lies, she was promptly served with divorce papers. read more

Quaint place in a good location! Parking lot on site (a little tricky to get into with a one-way street in front). Order at the counter and seat yourself. It's challenging for me to find a good cup of coffee at a restaurant but this was it! Coffee bar is serve yourself and bottomless cups. The food was soooo delicious!!
