2/22/26 My husband and I stopped by Biscuit Belly after church for brunch. We went with our waitress's recommendation and ordered the Brekkie Bowl with home fries, turkey sausage, and a sunny-side-up egg, it was very tasty. Everything was hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The flavors all came together so well, especially with that runny egg mixed in. We also got the Go Getta biscuit and gravy meal, which was hearty, comforting, and exactly what you want from a brunch spot. You can tell the food is made to order. It was somewhat average on the taste, but it satisfied our hunger. The restaurant itself was clean and nearly empty when we arrived, which made for a quick experience. Our food came out quickly, the staff was friendly and attentive, and we were in and out within 30 minutes, perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

The menu is kind of a lot--I thought on I want a chicken biscuit and there are like 10! But I ordered the original without the jam and was happy to eat a very hot, delicious breakfast. My only qualm is as a southerner who loves biscuits--these are not buttery like I prefer. But they are good. Service was lovely and the space was nice enough for a guy to be working and eating. Enjoy!

I ordered Door Dash and got the Biscuit Bennie which is eggs Benedict which has a Bennie sauce on it. It also has the meat and tomatoes and tomato sauce on it. Got the dd and they had the nerve to write a note on my carry out box "ran out of sauce". Wtf!? Who does that??? And they left off the tomatoes!! So I have poached eggs on toast NOT eggs Bennie! And it looks like someone took a dump on my eggs. Like what is that brown stuff on it?? I paid $18 for this garbage!! That is NOT ok to screw over a customer like that! You could've called me and we could've ordered something different! So beware if you order dd or any carry out bc they'll rip you off! Thanks for the crappy food!I mean look at the menu pic compared to the crap I got!

Super cute space, love the colors, and service is so nice! I was able to place a to go order and I was out in like 6 minutes, which is so fast cause they made it fresh! Flaky biscuits, savory cheese, delicious bonuts (biscuit donuts). And take advantage of the current Tasty Tuesday promo ($7 for a classic biscuit)!

The food was great and came out super quick. It's a very "self serve" type of place but the wait staff did a great job of continuing to check if we needed anything. Kind of reminds me of a breakfast Slim Chickens type of vibe. The only thing I would change is the fact they don't offer a typical combo meal for the biscuits so you have to pay $10 for a breakfast sandwich and additional $3ish for a drink and $3 more for a side.

The menu is so good! The biscuits are so big and fluffy and delicious! The gravy was also very tasty. The loaded hash browns with the maple mayonnaise are amazing. The restaurant is cute! Will go back and try more delicious menu items.

How great! The service was friendly, but had little interaction. The inside is spacious. The food was so tasty! The coffee was great, and we shared the pancake corn dog which was delicious and has an amazing sauce with it! I loved the brekkie bowl which I had the cheesy grits for the base!

Their take out process is quick and seamless. Placed my order and within 15 min, it was ready. Potatoes had a nice crunch, and veggies were fresh. I really appreciated the price tag, breakfast for 11$ is a steal!

Had their version of the Hot Brown. It was fantastic would recommend. Also had Avo toast and pancakes. Tasty bacon

Biscuit Belly is a fast casual breakfast restaurant. It was definitely family friendly, but they also serve brunch cocktails! I really enjoyed Biscuit Belly! The egg and cheese biscuit was really good, however, it was not hot. The iced coffee was really bad. It tasted like someone brewed hot drip coffee and then put that over ice. The hot brown was really good, it wasn't too dry. The Bonuts were a great sweet treat and the jam they came with was perfect. Sign up for their email/text list to get free Bonuts! The bathrooms are single person and were very large and clean. The parking lot was full on a Saturday morning, but there were available tables and we didn't have an issue getting a seat.

While out shopping, the movies, and enjoying a great day in Lexington, the Fat Man and his wife…read moredecided to get a late lunch. We swung into Southern Cookhouse & Bar. Southern Cookhouse features scratch-made dishes using local ingredients, a variety of burgers, pizzas, and classic Southern entrees. I started with the Chicken & Sausage Gumbo because I love soup and all soup-adjacent things. The gumbo had a good, rich flavor from the roux, with subtle heat and a sweet finish. The chicken had a nice flavor, a little saltiness, and it was tender. The Andouille sausage was cooked well and rounded out the flavor profile. The tomatoes and scallions added brightness and crunch. The rice had a few hard pieces, but overall it was good. I do want to mention that I did find a few chicken bones in the dish, just so people are aware. My wife tried the Dunwoody Cobb, made with Grilled chicken breast, boiled eggs, bacon, avocado, tomato, and blue cheese crumbles, with spring mix tossed in Dijon vinaigrette. The lettuce was crunchy and fresh. The bacon had a great salt level, crunch, and crispiness. The avocado added a creamy richness to each bite, while the tomato's acidity cut through the Dijon mustard's sweet and bitter notes. The star of the show was the salty, nutty, creamy blue cheese crumbles, which meshed well with all the other components. The chicken was cooked well and had good flavor, but it was dry. While I avoided it, my wife said the boiled egg was well-cooked and added it to the salad. I had the Nashville Hot chicken, which comes with spicy pickles, coleslaw & mayo on slider rolls with potato salad. The potato salad was mustard-and-mayo-based. The potatoes were soft but still offered some texture. The mustard and mayo balanced each other and added flavor. There were eggs in the potato salad, but they blended into the background and did not stand out. The sweet pickle relish added crunch and texture without being overly sweet. I'm not sure if it was made in-house or from a container; it was good nonetheless. The slider was fresh, soft, and nicely toasted. The slaw was medium-chopped, with a great mayo ratio and a good sweetness, tasting fresh, crunchy, and creamy without being so rich as to drown out the vegetables or the chicken. The pickle was not spicy, but a thick-cut bread-and-butter type with a little sweetness and a velvety, buttery flavor. The chicken was juicy, tender, and cooked well. The Nashville-style spices were mild to medium, just enough to know it was there but not so overpowering that it was all you tasted. It was not overly oily either, which often plagues sandwiches of this type. The entire sandwich worked well together. Southern Cookhouse has a full menu, but some items do rotate or are seasonal. The bar is fully stocked, offering draft beer, tea, and soft drinks. They offer counter ordering, and the staff is very friendly. The Fat Man says that Southern Cookhouse & Bar is Fat Man Approved with 2 chins.

The…read morenew location was beautifully curated and had a cozy, but upscale vibe that we're used to seeing at OBC Kitchen. They even have cozy blankets available for their fireside, outdoor dining spots; a very cute and clever touch. The bar beautifully highlights their bourbon selection which is as expansive as you would expect being in the heart of The Bluegrass As expected, the cocktails were amazing! We tried a few of their seasonal selections, a classic cocktail, and a Four Roses Small Batch neat. All were fantastic! The gin cocktail "he who shall not be named" was well balanced, bright, and overall easy to drink-a crowd pleaser! The milk and sugar (classic cocktail) and the pumpkin espresso martini were coffee-forward, not too sweet options that made for a perfect "dessert" drink without feeling like you were drinking syrup. If you want a fun, new take on some classic cocktails- OBC is never the wrong choice! Now- the food! We had the Parker's Roll- they came out piping hot in a cute cast iron skillet, a cute nod to the KY Southern cooking that I grew up with. The rosemary had just enough presence to be different/modern but was not in your face, which was a bonus for me-but if you're hoping for super flavor forward rolls these may not be for you. Not pictured, my husband's caprese chicken- it was perfectly seared with just the right amount of crispness, the marinara and caprese salad on the side were the perfect amount of freshness and brightness to lighten up the dish. The short ribs and cheesy grits felt like home- a great dish for a rainy, fall night. No complaints here! We also split the hashbrown au gratin- it was yummy, the jalapeño was pepper first, heat second and had just the right amount of freshness and heat to make an otherwise "classic" dish just a little bit more special. SERVICE! While this is a new-to-us location, OBC is a well established, well executed restaurant and the service reflects their heritage. We were fortunate to be one of the tables that Rachel and Jake were working with tonight- Rachel was training but never missed a step and honestly, was a DELIGHT to spend the evening with. :) She was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She was not "pushy" and gave us plenty of time to just enjoy each course of our meal without being interrupted with ordering the next step. Jake (her trainer) checked in every now and then for feedback on how Rachel was doing, he was always polite and helpful but honestly, not necessary because she was amazing! We also had a few members of the bar team and "runners" check in/deliver drinks and food throughout the meal- they were all polite, timely, kind, and willing to help even if it was outside of their typical "role". Price point: for us, the meal was a little more than we would pay for "just dinner" but for a rare, parents-only, night out it was perfectly reasonable. We will probably reserve this for an "occasion" or a showcase dinner when we have friends in town BUT it is perfect for that! Overall, a great time, with great people, and great food! We're excited to have them on the north side of town!

Or maybe slip into the bar unannounced. Super friendly! As they've outgrown the Tates Creek location and are building out the new location, the website and Google conflicted on who's open and where. At the moment I'm here on TC. To make sure I knew where I was going, Grace called to confirm my reservation and the correct location. Bonus points! If you're reading this they've already moved to Turner Commons. Maybe the best fries I've ever had. Seriously! I love a fry. The thicker the better. These aren't steak fries but a healthy, house cut, seasoned to perfection. I could make a meal of of these with the dipping sides of smoked tomato ketchup (meh), lemon-garlic rosemary aioli (oh yeah), and a thai chili dipping sauce (B I N G O) $9 Cola-Braised Shirt Ribs were good. The greens with bacon, I mean, bacon, rocked better than other sides in the past. So there's a win. The scoop of grits were delicious and made for a perfect trifecta @ $33. Wanting something more refreshing yet still filling? I highly recommend the Heirloom Tomatoes/Watermelon/Burrata salad $22. You will think it's huge, and it is, but you'll clean your plate. Dessert? Well. That's bourbon, Son. OBC has an exceptional collection. Peruse options on the iPad to get hints of flavors, proofs, and costs. May I suggest the Stag Single Barrel? It's uncut, unfiltered, and a very limited batch from Buffalo Trace. It's a beauty and a beast. On a Sunday night, there was a wait, but we were able to snag two seats at the bar. The bartenders were great--I wish I remembered their names! They made some excellent food and drink recommendations and were very attentive. We started with a Caesar salad to share, which isn't pictured, and then ordered two pasta dishes that we absolutely devoured. Everything was delicious! The following day, we discovered that many restaurants are closed on Mondays, so we ended up at Carson's again. This time, we decided to check out the back porch. We were expecting a similar menu, but the back porch seemed to focus more on meat and fish options, while we were looking for sandwiches. So, we relocated to the main dining area at Carson's without a reservation. Thankfully, the hostess was able to seat us but let us know that we would need to be finished dining by 7 p.m., which wasn't a problem for us. Our server was great, and we started with the goat cheese appetizer, which was absolutely incredible! Unfortunately, my Buffalo chicken sandwich was drenched in Buffalo sauce to the point that I couldn't really enjoy it. My spouse and I also decided to share sides of the mac and cheese and smoked Gouda broccoli. I was pretty disappointed with both because they were heavily covered in truffle, which I personally don't like. Because of that, I wasn't able to enjoy my second meal here as much as I had hoped. Nonetheless, I would still recommend checking out Carson's. There are plenty of menu options, and our first experience was fantastic. Based on my two visits, though, I would strongly recommend making a reservation if you plan to dine here!
