Definitely an old school vibe. It felt like we were in a movie with all the students studying lol. We loved the building & the natural what looked like original wood Flooring. Stopped in and asked for an iced coffee with just a little room for cream. The gentleman handed me what looked like a latte. It was not a latte but had way to much milk for my taste. He said it was the standard for an iced coffee. Instead of just making a new one, he added a little coffee to it. Still too much milk. So he kindly dumped some out but it was still too much milk for me. Some people probably like that much milk, however, I do not. read more

Old School Coffee as super unique and I loved the concept. It is nestled inside of Dudley Square. There is free 2-hour parking and plenty of tables/chairs for studying, meeting or just enjoying a nice cup of coffee. The coffee names are unique with plenty of options. I opted for the Counselor (white chocolate + caramel) and it was good but I would try something else the next time I go. Service was a little slow, but it was extremely busy, so I didn't mind the wait. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Old School Coffee and look forward to trying to other coffee options in future. Old School Coffee is a fun spot located inside an actual old school building! They have their own small parking lot with two hours of free parking, but it can fill up quickly. Luckily, there's also free street parking nearby - just make sure to read the signs carefully. (My street parking was unlimited time!) I ordered a cinnamon roll latte and thought it tasted okay. Prices felt very reasonable, especially coming from the Bay Area; my 16 oz drink was around $5.42 (April 2025). There's a good amount of seating: a row of tables along the wall (which was full of people working on laptops when I visited), some comfy sofas, counter seating, and even outdoor tables. The WiFi was fast, and I was able to get a lot of work done without any issues. The workers were super friendly, and I appreciated that they didn't rush me out even after sitting for over two hours (though there's a sign asking people to limit their stay if the shop gets busy - it wasn't while I was there). Overall, a cozy and chill place to grab a drink and get some work done. Would definitely come back! read more

First time at OSC was so cute. Free parking is a must in downtown Lex. Then the schoolhouse building had so many interesting businesses I browsed before walking into the coffee shop. It was too late in the day for coffee so I was going to get tea (which they had a lovely selection of loose leaf and pastries from La Petite Delicat) UNTIL I saw a cute specialty drink called a Butterfly Lemonade that had blueberry syrup! The coffee is always great, the service, however, is not. The recent addition of the dark brunette barista has left me with more than a handful of bad experiences and outright rude interactions. She seems to have selective attitude and tone problems depending on the customer she's serving. It sucks that one bad barista can make an entire, and otherwise great, ambiance, toxic. It's one thing to not want to be there, it's another to project that on everyone else, or whatever else seems to be her problem. Such a pleasant experience. The owner is so incredibly kind and inviting. The staff seem really close and are nice. They've started making pop tarts and scones in house. I'm so excited! I've been searching everywhere for a pop tart and am thrilled they have them! The pop tart was not the best I've had, but they're a whole lot better than my attempt at them. The vibes are vibing at this place - the old school building has lots of charm. I tried the student and my boyfriend got the drop out, both iced. I really enjoyed both of them and they were creamy and flavorful. We also tried a donut which was tasty. The service was super fast even though the place was packed. There was a decent amount of seating but there were only a few open spots. I also saw someone in there with two dogs so maybe it's dog friendly? The only downfall is that it gets real loud it more than two people are talking. It wouldn't be my ideal study space but if you need the background noise or have some good headphones it might work. On a cold snowy day I decided finding a good local coffee and making a coffee shop my office for the morning was the right move. I'd heard about Old School but not yet tried it out so was the day to make it happen. Old School is inside an old school building in Dudley Square that now contains a variety of businesses like a spa and a yoga studio. Since it is inside, it's not immediately obvious that it exists or even how to get to the entrance. There are 10-15 parking spaces to the rear that are shared among the businesses in the building but another large lot that many don't notice across Mill St as well. There are large red doors on both the front and back of the building. You can find Old School by entering either of those and walking down the short hallway. The barista was friendly and happily talked to patrons about the coffee they served and the building itself. I went with a simple house roast drip coffee and was pleased. They do have a house blend but the beans are roasted elsewhere in Kentucky. My only knock is that I would prefer to have beans roasted in town just to keep everything as local as possible, but keeping it in state is the next best option. I'll be back and recommend you check them out as well! read more
