Charming little Italian restaurant in Eureka, CA. We are visiting from Massachusetts and it can be difficult to find a great restaurant, but Gabriel's is a gem!! The meals were prepared perfectly. Excellent service by our waitress! We were able to take our time and not feel rushed. Everything was perfect! 5 stars!!

Smallest bay shrimp I have ever seen!

I ordered Fruta De Mare. This is suppose to be 'fruit of the sea'. The sauce was tasty but the only seafood was some small cubes of rockfish (the size of 2 pencil erasers), 4 small prawns and a 1/4 cup of very, very tiny cocktail shrimp. I did get over a pound of pasta, enough for 4 people. In fact I took most of it home and it made 2 more meals. I was looking forward to clams and squid/mussels possibly crab, given the price. This was shrimp pasta with about 7 small pieces of rockfish . Just not worth the price IMO. I like the taste of their food but the portions are way off. Our guest ordered smoke salmon ravioli and he literally got 7 raviolis. He was the biggest guy in the group. His date shared her food instead of complaining. It was served in a huge pasta bowl and didn't fill 1/8 of it. They have some work to do with their menu and portion sizes.

The Hubbs was drawn here by the pictures in the reviews. He does better when he can see the presentation when he is trying something new. However their menu changes so the items he was looking forward to were not available. We settled on the artichoke heat fritters, which were very good. A little challenging to eat with a fork. I had the brisket ravioli which was delicious. The Hubbs had spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were hearty and well seasoned. Service was very good. We loved the historic charm and beautful wall mural. Although there is limited seating at ground level near the bar, the better seating is on the second level.

I went to get tiramisu for my birthday last night and 13.50$ later this is what I got. While delicious, the size of this is a joke. Can't believe I accepted it but I had already ordered it and paid b4 getting home with this disappointment.

It was my first time here . This is a very charming restaurant. When you walk-i. you would love it . A gentleman is playing guitar and he would ask you what would you like me to play . The server ( a young gentleman) will welcome you . I ordered fettuccine Alfredo pasta . It was very delicious. I loved it . They have lots of different drinks . You will be confused what to choose.

As a birthday gift, we were given a dinner at Gabriel's. it is a cute little place in Old Town Eureka. A bit hard to find as there is no signage. After we got in, we saw several others outside as perplexed as we were walking around. However, we ere cheerfully greeted and had a great table reserved for us. Our waiter did a great job throughout the meal. We chose strangolapretti as an appetizer mostly because I'd never heard of it. It's a spinach dumpling with sausage. The basil cream sauce was beautiful but the dumplings were dense. Not sure what they should taste like but I wouldn't get them again. For dinner, I chose filet minion with Gnocchi. I'd been told the gnocchi was amazing. In my opinion, the filet was tender, juicy and perfectly cooked but the gnocchi needed work. My husband got the New York Strip with mashed potatoes. His mash was amazing but the steak was overcooked. Both dishes came with seasonal veg which wee great. So, dinner was a little mixed but the dessert saved the day. We had tiramisu which was everything it should be. Gabriel's is known for making everything from scratch including the lady fingers in the dessert. The marscapone was creamy and delicious beautifully soaked with rum. I'd go back for that!! My picture taking was a bit better this time, but no dessert picture. All in all, we were glad to have tried it. 4 out of 5 and I wouldn't go back.

The place was pretty busy at 8pm and we sat outside since we had our pup with us. I ordered 3 oysters as an app. I had just read that Humboldt Bay provided a large percentage of the oysters consumed in CA and NV so figured I should order some since we're so close to the source! I was surprised when I slurped it down and it was warm but they were delicious and the sauce on top was very flavorful. (That was my fault for not reading the description well enough; I'm just accustomed to eating oysters chilled) For entree's, I went with the Polenta Veghie lasagna and my husband ordered the Italian Mac n cheese. Both dishes were very good and very filling. I loved the crust of the polenta and the eggplant and cheese filling was delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful and I was impressed with the coziness and warmth of the interior. Great spot for dinner, I'm glad I chose this restaurant!

There's a big party room for meetings or parties, and a game room with arcade games off to the side - accessible by stairs only so my son couldn't go in. In addition to pizza and pasta, they have sandwiches, calzones, and a fresh salad bar, not a ton of toppings but enough of everything I like to make me happy. My family and I ordered a large pizza w/ half sizzling bbq chicken & half Babe's Combo, a spaghetti and AYCE salad bar. The pizza was amazing, I loved the bbq chicken and the crust was super yum. Even my husband commented that the pizza was good and he doesn't usually make comments about pizza unless it's really bad. However, the spaghetti was missing some salt/herbs so it was bland for my personal taste. Salad ingredients were fresh, and I went back about 3 times as my family kept wanting more. The best part about Babe's was the people working here. Everyone was nice, but especially the lady who took my order, she was so so nice! Actually honestly, everyone I've come across in Eureka has been so friendly and kind, from the gas station, to the Target...it's been a great experience interacting with the people here. But the lady at Babe's just made my day, and unfortunately I didn't catch her name, but Babe's is so lucky to have her! There needs to be more Eureka kindness in this world.

We were served right away and the hostess was very nice and located at two top for us. The wait person was lovely and immediately accommodating. The menu was interesting and inviting. I had to laugh out loud as there is an item on the menu referencing Pee-wee's Playhouse from my childhood. I even asked if it was a Gen X restaurant and sure enough the chef is of my generation. I'm including a picture so IYKYK! The waitress had shared all of the specials, and I was intrigued by the flat iron steak option. It was a flat iron steak with marsala mushroom sauce, and mushroom risotto and asparagus. It was delightful! The meat was perfectly cooked and tender with a lot of beef flavor, offset by a rich marsala mushroom sauce. It was perfectly complimented by one of the top mushroom risotto I have had in my life. It was delectable. And the grilled asparagus side paired nicely with the beef and marsala sauce. It even had a little bit of lemon on the asparagus, which is my preference for it! Overall, this is probably in the top five of all of the restaurant meals I've had in my life. My husband had the mixed beef burger with fries. He said he really enjoyed the burger, and I did steal a tiny taste, and it was perfectly cooked and had a slight gameness that gave it some depth. My husband said that the bun was very nice as well. The fries were perfectly cooked. The burger was perfectly cooked and it wasn't over juicing nor dry. Overall, a really great burger! Funniest thing we noticed was that all of the chairs that were sitting on a cement floor had been given rubber caps for each of the legs so that when you moved the chair, it didn't make a horrible sound. Literally extra 10 points for that alone! I wish this location well and look forward to stopping in the next time we are in the area.

My wife and I traditionally split meals at restaurants, because they generally give you so much food, you leave uncomfortably stuffed. We prefer leaving comfortably satisfied. So we split the Arugula Salad. They bring complementary bread with a garlic butter or basalmic and olive oil. We preferred the basalmic. The garlic butter wasn't very garlicky. But the salad was excellent. They split it for us for a small upcharge. The Halibut was excellent. We had to split it ourselves, but that was not a problem for us. It was served over couscous and was excellent. A bit small to split, so we added a cheesecake dessert with ganache. Very good. We paired it all with a Cabernet from the Oakville area of Napa (where we had just visited) and it was excellent as well. Our server was attentive. The pacing of our meal was very well done. Not too long between check-ins, but also not rushed. We recommend!
