We can here for our "Sunday brunch" and it was perfect. We felt comfortable and safe as we stood in line and ordered our food as well as sitting in the dining room. The two of us shared 2lbs of boiled shrimp, a order of grilled veggies, gumbo, and drinks. Can't wait to go back it was worth the trip! read more

I had a friend come in town and we decided to visit here. I am not sure what all the hype is about as the food has no flavor. We were disappointed to say the least. This place is a must-try! Their fried calamari, onion rings, and grilled fish are top notch. The sole reason I appreciate the fried calamari served here is because each calamari isn't covered with huge amount of batter. I could actually taste the sweetness from the squid and their sauce complements the calamari well. The onion rings are extremely crispy and the onions within are juicy and thick. Disappointed but I cannot say I am surprised. Ever since I moved to Fort Worth in 2019 I have been in search of some really good, non-viet style seafood and it is just nowhere to be found here. I ordered the 12 oyster basket and the fries were good but the oysters were small for the price and very bland. As soon as I walked in to pick up my togo order, I noticed the crowd that were eating inside were much older (which I find shocking since COVID). Te garter sauce tastes like sour cream but it's not bad, it definitely is saving my meal. I would probably eat here again as a dine-in just because the atmosphere was cool but I wouldn't eat here again for the food. I have checked in to the TownePlace 1 block from here a half dozen times and both Flying Fish and Railhead have tempted me for dinner. Until tonight I drove down to Hulen. Tonight I grabbed a jacket & walked. It is Mardi Gras but that is simply a coincidence. No obnoxious stuff going down. They do play old school NOLA and Southern blues and are pushing crawfish. I almost left when I saw counter ordering and no bar but I'm glad I stayed. It is a bit of a drive. I liked it! I went for grilled Red Snapper, Red Beans and Rice, green beans and 2 brown bottled beers. Colorful dinner! The Snapper was fresh and flavorful but slightly over-grilled. Still really good. Read great reviews and decided to try this place for crawfish, I got 2 lbs and it was not fresh at all. A lot of the tail meat was gray and slimy meaning that they were dead long before they there boiled. Not a lot of flavor to the crawfish either and some were quite fishy. They don't have traditional seasoning salt either so I don't think they flavor the boil water. I will say when you walk in it is a cute establishment and the food smells really good so their other fish entrees might be worth a try but I wouldn't go here if you're wanting good crawfish. read more

What a surprise to find that this unassuming building right off Hwy 30 was seafood heaven. Order at the counter and seat yourself. Open kitchen shows them cranking out everything from gumbo to peel and eat shrimp to fried fish to tacos and basically every other seafood item you can think of. We crushed 24 peel and eat shrimp, hush puppies, fried shrimp basket, a lb of crawfish with corn and potatoes plus some grilled zucchini and squash....to be healthy ya know... This place served beer and margaritas and such and is now my new favorite spot when visiting the kiddo in FTW. Can't wait to go back and try more. read more

Catfish tacos were super underwhelming. It came out in one of those Taco Bell hard shell pre made taco shells. Not a fan, but the breaded catfish alone was 10/10. I literally took the catfish out of the shell, and ate the slaw with the catfish. The cole slaw had tremendous flavor. My recommendation would be to avoid to tacos and just order the breaded fish. I also tried the shrimp po boy. Not even close to what you get in Louisiana but it was decent. I'll go back to try the seafood boil, maybe that is better. Food was 3 stars. Ambiance was 5 stars. Cute, casual and quality seafood. It's consistent, and they have great lemonade, unsweetened tea, and condiments. I always go for the fish tacos which are super messy. Kind of wish they wrapped the crunchy shell in a flour tortilla to prevent them from falling apart or that having to inhale feeling you get when a handheld meal is coming undone. So I was in Fort Worth for a work trip and wanted to try a new restaurant in the area so I chose Flying Fish. I ordered from one of those delivery apps. I ordered the Gumbo, Fried fish sandwich, banana pudding, lemonade and sweet tea. The gumbo was extremely flavorful and very accurate to what good gumbo should be. being someone who has some of the best gumbo from the Bayou their gumbo did not disappoint. The fried fish sandwich however was very underwhelming. the breading was flaky and just wasn't flavorful, not to mention it was over taken by lettuce and tomatoes which I actually never had on a fish sandwich. the banana pudding was okay at best, I've just had better. next time I'm in town I will definitely stop in and go into the restaurant oppose to ordering in. read more

The food at the Flying Fish is "off the hook"! No pun intended. All of there grilled fish dishes are amazing! They are famous for the grilled snapper but I prefer the grilled trout with lemon butter. You can substitute two sides for the sautéed spinach and a side salad which I highly recommend. Also, the seafood gumbo is to Die For Amazing! You would be crazy not to try this place! read more

Stellar food! I have been wanting to go here for many years and finally made it in. I took my wife for a quick dinner date and this was right up our alley. The food was excellent and we got a couple of entrees to split with some fried pickles. The salmon tacos were great, my wife loved the rice and beans. And I devoured the crawfish etouffee. There homemade tarter sauce is awesome as well. We also enjoyed the different inside restaurant atmosphere. It was fun. We will definelty be returning soon. read more

The catfish, crawfish and the sides are pretty good we had there but I believe it was a little too expensive for the portions you get, except for the crawfish specials they run. I do not recommend getting the spicy alligator Poboy, too much sauce that drowns out any flavor from the fried alligator. Overall it is a little expensive but it's still a decent casual seafood spot in Fort Worth. read more

Growing up in sunny Florida and now living in N. Texas - I miss authentic seafood places like this. Flying Fish has a great old school diner vibe with fishing pictures and Big Mouth Billy Bass'ss'ss all over the walls - thankfully most have dead batteries! This was the first restaurant that we visited when we moved to Fort Worth two months ago. I am always up for good catfish. The food was exceptionally good... Hot, fresh, and very tasty. The restaurant was clean and the service was good. There are no waiters and waitresses... You order at the counter and pick up your own food, get your own drinks and condiments so by service I mean the people behind the counter taking your order and getting it to you quickly. We have been back twice and will continue to frequent this restaurant. They not only have catfish but shrimp, oysters, and other kinds of fish and of course chicken strips for those who don't know what's really good! read more

I usually order delivery from Grubhub here almost every week. It's my favorite fish and shrimp fry in Fort Worth. Salads are good too but sometimes the dried cranberries can be a bit much for me. Just wished they offered more side options on their grilled fish plates. I'm not a huge fan of zucchini and that's what the grilled fish plates come with unless you request a substitution. Fresh corn on the cob and spinach is delicious. Food quality is mostly consistent. read more

Everything was really flavorful and well seasoned, and the crawfish had a great kick. The appetizers were perfect for sharing and made it easy for everyone to try a few things. They also did a nice job accommodating our larger party. Our server was friendly, attentive, and handled our table well, which isn't easy with a group that size. The only thing that stood out was the manager. He didn't greet any tables while we were there. At one point he brought a dish to our table but didn't say anything, and later spent quite a while standing by the bar on his phone. It didn't negatively impact the service we received, but it did leave us a little unsure about the management presence. Overall, we had a good experience and enjoyed the food. The staff we interacted with were great, but management left us wondering. We'll still come back for the crawfish though.

The second time I went I got the seafood boil and the sauce is tangy and lemony. I couldn't even tell you what was so flavorful about neither one of these dishes. You can't advertise flavorful and not have your food having no flavor. I wouldn't go back and I didn't finish neither one of my meals. I don't even like seafood and I decided to try it for the first time and never again. When I tried the crabs I tasted the sea instead of the flavorful meat.
