Ordered the fish combo (*included 1 fish filet and 6 shrimp) with greens and fries and cornbread. The cornbread was cold and didn't looked done. The shrimp was cold, fish was okay but I've had better. The greens were ok but had better. Asked for some hot cornbread and they stated, they were making it fresh and it came back out just heated and not made fresh..still showing not being cooked thoroughly. Fries were supposed to be the crinkle cut and they were shoestring. Asked for plain water..received water with lemon. The cake was not fresh. My two girlfriends food was terrible too..they ordered the meatloaf and baked chicken and it was not very tasty. The baked chicken was overcooked and the meatloaf was too thick and not tasty. The waitresses kept forgetting items that we needed. The atmosphere was ok. I will never come here again.

2 fried catfish with mashed potatoes + green beans

Food was great and customer service was great as well. You either call ahead or order inside when you get there. Food takes so out 15-20min to be ready. You wait in your car & they'll bring it out to you. You get 2 sides with every entree. I got the 2 piece fried fish with mashed potatoes (you can choose white gravy or brown) and green beans, comes with cornbread and 2 sauces. the total came out to be around $21. The young lady who took my order was soo sweet & kind. The food tasted AMAZING. The fish was so well seasoned that I didn't need any of the sauces. Crispy and hot. Mashed potatoes were buttery. Green beans were just your basic green beans. I barely finished the entire box, it was a lot of food.

Loved to support small businesses so we thought we would check out Nana's Kitchen. It was great! Hubby had the whole catfish with greens and green beans. I had the fried shrimp with Mac and cheese and greens. We also got 3 wings to try. Let me tell you that those greens are so good! They are full of garlic and have a kick! We are so many of them that we didn't get to the green beans. Hubby loved the catfish and I liked the shrimp too. The catfish was hot and fresh and seasoned well. The corn nuggets were really good too. Hubby liked the Mac and cheese and I believe it complimented the greens well. The wings were ok, but the catfish and greens were the hit of the meal. Overall, you have to try them if you are near.

Smothered Pork Chops Macaroni And Cheese Cabbage

I have seen several recommendations for this restaurant but a visit requires a planned trip as it is so far away. Finally today I was able to visit and my impression is very mixed. The dishes that are good are good but the ones that aren't make you say "what the hell" out loud. You will order inside and wait in your car for it to be brought out. Plate 1: 1 smothered pork chop with cabbage and Mac and cheese. The pork chop was tender enough to cut with the plastic fork and knife. It is slightly under seasoned considering it is pork covered in gravy but can be corrected. It is served with too much gravy for the container provided so there was a lot of leakage that made the other plates messy. The cabbage is all the white pieces and no green but tender. The Mac and cheese should be considered a punishable offense - pale watery unseasoned. It leaked out of the container the same way the gravy from the pork chop did. Plate 2: 1 fried pork chop with greens and Mac and cheese. This pork chop was better seasoned. Greens appeared to be from a can but they did add additional season. Mac and cheese see above. Plate 3: lemon pepper wings (no fries). Best dish. It appears that these are full size wings that have been cut down so they are a good size. They were well seasoned and had the right amount of crunch. Dessert: lemon pound cake. I was worried thinking that the cake would be old but it was very moist and had the right amount of sweetness. I was tempted to get another piece.

I read…read moreother Yelp* review of Juicy's, and was dying to try it, so I checked their hours and headed over around 2PM in the afternoon. When I arrived, there were no cars in the parking lot and it looked closed. I went up to the front door to see if there was a note but all that was posted there were their normal hours. Based on that, they were supposed to be open. Not a good start. I posted about this on Facebook, saying it looked like they were closed for good. A friend of ours replied the next day that she had moved down the street from Juicy's and she saw the restaurant open for business that day. I headed over again and they were open. Soul Food, Comfort Food, Home Cooking, whatever you want to call it, that's what they're serving at Juicy's with a large side of FRIENDLINESS. I grew up in south Texas, so a bowl of pinto beans with a piece of cornbread is a meal I love to this day. However, I was craving chicken, so I ordered the chicken plate (you can specify 4 wings) with mashed potatoes w/brown gravy and pinto beans (of course). Have you noticed that most dining out today is underwhelming? It seems to me the restaurants are using cheaper ingredients. Everything tastes bland. BUT NOT AT JUICY'S! The meal hit the spot for me. The wings are "whole wings," meaning there are no "drums" and "flats." Each wing at Juicy's is BOTH PARTS. It's the whole wing! I was full after just three but Bonnie grabbed the last one to "keep it from going to waste." (I think she was keeping it from going to MY waist...) The beans reminded me of my mom's pinto beans. The brown gravy on the potatoes reminded me of my grandmother's gravy at Thanksgiving. The cornbread was almost like cake. Even the music was great, featuring R&B and blues. We found ourselves humming along to the music as we feasted on the food. We're definitely going back.

I must say my absolute favorite is the fried chicken those wings hit a part of my soul that hasn't been explored since my grandma was making chicken. Not to be out done the pork chops and the turkey wings were absolutely amazing. Don't sleep on the sides as those greens and yams are all seasoned great so I know somebody at least in their late 40's back there with some blessed hands. With this being my second trip in 2 days there's no doubt I will be returning fairly often to try the other dishes. What a great find PS Don't forget to get some Kooliad.

Craving fried chicken and decided to head to Juicys Soul Food and learned they had closed....uggggh. Not to be deterred discovers Linda's Soul Food to go and called to inquire if they had fried chicken. They did. Yahoooo. Off we went. Upon arrival and as we entered this little gem I just admit I was worried. It was dead and appeared only one person was working. We learned they only had 4 meat offerings, fried chicken, fried pork chops, meatloaf and fried catfish. We were a bit disappointed when we learned they only had wings and legs for the fried chicken but moved on and placed an order. I had the fried chicken legs, collard greens, fried cabbage and Mac n cheese. She opted for the fried pork chops and Mac n cheese. The serving size are huge. 3 legs, 3 pork chops. Sides are plentiful. Are you ready? Absolutely delicious. The fried pork chops were the best we have ever had out. The Fried chicken was equally as good. HOT. JUICY. Soooo good. The Mac n cheese was better than Juicys. Cheesy and gooey goodness. I loved it. The collards were also better than Juicys....id argued one of the best I've ever had out. The dry erase board had the following listed; meatloaf, fried chicken, fried fish, fried pork chops. She did say they offer other things on the weekend. That statement confused me because it was Saturday around noon and the couple had to wait for someone to come unlock the door which implied that they were just opening. The couple inquired about options other than fried and was told that meatloaf was it. One asked if there was pork in the sides. Her response was "no pork at all" and the lady said, " Except the fried pork chops, right?" Well, as you see from the photo, there's pork in the greens. I ordered fried pork chops with mac & cheese, yams, and collard greens which came with cornbread. The only other side listed was cabbage. Lemon pound cake was the dessert offered. I was told my order should be ready in about 20 minutes. I left and went to Starbucks up the street and came back about 30 minutes later and he was putting my order into the bag. I want to preempt by saying give this place a try and see what you think. You may have a different experience. There is construction being done on the street in front of the establishment, FYI. I personally did not enjoy the taste of the food. The yams were okay, but again, the taste just wasn't there for me. The cashier did say that they've only been open a year so maybe it's a work in progress.

I have eaten at a LOT of soul food restaurants and this was the first time I received a box cake. I ordered baked chicken...bland but for the salty grayish white gravy that was poured over it. I also had the cabbage....zero thermal heat and the yams...sweet but not complex. The cornbread was room temperature and hard. The tea was syrupy sweet with very little tea flavor. This place was a huge disappointment. The only bonus is the portion size of the sides. Other than that, there were no pros. As the owner uncovered the sauce less pigs' feet, the dry neck bones and the heatless macaroni goulash, I apparently was rude because of my facial expression, I.e. I was shocked and fairly disgusted by the lackluster food appearance. I've never seen neck bones that aren't in their juices or pigs feet either!!!! Alas, my dear hubby is an eternal optimist and didn't want to be rude. So I went along and ordered, but barely picked at the baked chicken. The owner lectured me on my rudeness and how much I had to learn about life and how to talk and deal with people. I pointed out that I was an attorney and I deal with people all the time. However she raised her voice and told me about all FIVE of her degrees in engineering, business administration, etc. and who my law degree didn't mean anything to her. Lol... Looking back, I am sure her feelings were hurt as a result of my shock and disgust. Well, if the food was hot and actually flavorful (as true soul food is), there would be no reason to look shocked and disgusted. There is no excuse for a gravy that is salty and poured over just about every dish. If you are taking the money of the hard working people in that neighborhood, shouldn't you provide quality food? Not to mention it is fairly inexpensive commodity dishes that are being served! If your serving table is defective, care enough about your product and get another one that ensures the food is actually HOT! The food was of poor quality. The owner was rude and confrontational. I would not recommend this place.
