Grilled pork chops, fried okra. Mashed potatoes no gravy and a roll.

The food was homestyle and delicious, portions are a good size! We also tried the key lime pie and chocolate cake (those however are small portions so not enough to share just one). Service was good and the decor was ok. It is an old house but goes along with the ambiance of home cooking! The dinner roll is yummy!!

Salmon over rice with choice of sides.

Been going here for more than ten years. Everyone is so sweet and welcoming and the menu is extensive covering so much variety. Overall it is not high end and some might consider it sort of bland but for the money it is hard to beat the value. Lots of options and choices to satisfy the whole family or group. I don't drink but there are times when the bar is quite lively.

The place was definitely home town vibes , everyone talking and having a great time .the service was good and friendly, staff was all smiles., food was amazing!!! Straight up Texas grub, I really enjoyed the apps , then follow up with some pork chips.. all great ... great spot

Kids loved their catfish and honey Dijon chicken, black eyed peas and cinnamon apples!

Hidden Southern Gem on Hwy 157! I've lived in this area for 11 years and had NO idea this amazing Southern food restaurant was here Their $14 lunch special is unbeatable: an entrée, two sides, cornbread or a roll, and soup or salad. Everything was absolutely fantastic. Tartar sauce, salad dressings and more are made in-house - you can taste the difference! - ranch was so good I ordered the Chicken Milanese with white wine sauce and sautéed mushrooms - perfection. The catfish was fried golden and crispy and the fried okra was spot on. The black-eyed peas tasted homemade, the cornbread was moist and flavorful, and the cinnamon apples were the perfect sweet finish to a hearty meal. A huge shout-out to Bre for the excellent customer service - friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The price point is phenomenal for the amount and quality of food you get.

This place was recommended by a friend & I'm glad they told me about it! I've been in DFW for a long time & I'm sad that I just now discovered them. Affordable prices with portions that are just right. I had the beef philly (you can also get chicken), the filling was generous as the bun had it topped on both sides. The meat was tender, well seasoned, onions cooked perfectly (I am super picky about onions not cooked enough because I'm not a fan of raw onions), & the bun was toasty! Fries were nice & crispy. I also had a slice of chocolate mousse cake, this was a treat. It wasn't overly rich. My friend had a chicken sandwich with green beans, he was happy with that choice & my other friend also ordered the philly... no complaints from either of them! We had another friend join us last minute so we were there for over three hours, our waitresses had a shift change & both of them were so sweet... they didn't seem to mind us just chatting. The place seems really homey, down to earth. I will say the restroom needed a little love, they didn't seem too busy but I'm not sure if they had a lot of staff members working at the moment. My bill came out to $20 before tip, not bad. I would recommend you trying this place if you get a chance! I was sad to see that during our time there were only three or four tables at a time, including us in that count, were occupied. It's clear why they have been here for many years & I hope they will still be here for many more to come!

Really good food! Let's say you pull a book off the shelf. You study the cover and notice it's old, a bit tattered around the edges and faded from time. But, when you open it up, you discover it's a first edition classic novel written and signed by your favorite author. Well. Southern Recipes Grill is the restaurant version of the tired book. The understated owner-operated restaurant certainly over-delivered on customer service and food quality and value. The table service was prompt, friendly and attentive. I don't think we had to ask for anything the entire meal, and that includes the 'to go' boxes at the end...because portion sizes are very generous. The very generous portion sizes were impressive, but the flavor was pleasantly unexpected. The meal was outstanding! We ordered the special, beef tips with mashed potatoes or rice, and two sides. We also ordered pecan pie for desert. Each slice was over sized, and as good a pecan pie as I've had anywhere in recent memory. This was one of the more satisfying meals we have had in a while. The ambiance definitely could use a face lift, both inside and out. It's old and worn out. But, if an unassuming decor is the price for quality food and generous portions at a fair price, leave everything alone. Who knows, maybe the 1980's ambiance will swing towards vouge next year. Overall, I couldn't be happier with our exexperience at Southern. I felt like I got real value for my money. So, should you go? ABSOLUTELY! ~Enjoy!~

Service was great! They were very attentive. My hubby had the fried catfish , which was good. His corn was super sweet, which he liked. My grill chicken was dry. Do NOT order it. I was disappointed in the roll and the cornbread. They were very dense. Flavor for the garlic mashed potatoes were also tasty. I would come back and try something else.

Plus who doesn't love those biscuits and honey? Fortunately we had missed the lunch rush and were seated immediately. Our table was next to "Rick's" table, Babe's famous dining guest. Of course Rick is a mannequin. If you're seated at his table, he doesn't do much talking during the meal We both said hello to Rick and placed our order with our, ever smiling, Stephen S. He was wonderful throughout our visit ensuring we never lacked for anything. My wife and I ordered a fried chicken dinner and a vegetable plate. A few visits back we learned the little trick. Ordering the two separate plates we don't end up taking a lot of chicken home. The fired chicken dinner includes the white meat my wife likes and the dark meat I love plus unlimited veggies for the both of us. It's the perfect dinner for the two of us. The fried chicken was, of course, stellar, as it always is plus the addition of the phenomenal sides. the Italian style green beans, creamed style corn, whipped potatoes and a lettuce salad with their sweet-sour dressing. Our waiter did NOT want to be there and put in minimal effort. The food came out quickly and was hot and fresh. The waiter said he would be back with our green beans but they never arrived. I say if you come on Sundays you need to arrive there early because I could tell they would probably sell out of their main specials. Majority of everyone ahead of me ordered shrimp and grits. I decided to get the shrimp and grits which included 1 fried fish, 1 side. It was about $22. It was back by popular demand. Honestly, not my favorite choice on the menu. They do give you a good amount of food. My hush puppies were overcooked and hard. I got a side order of corn which was really flavorful. The fried fish was okay. The grits could have been more soft. The employees are always nice, just this time around I wasn't feeling this particular item.

We had the pleasure of meeting Nana herself. Me and my mom enjoyed speaking with her. She was pleasant and friendly. I loved how she was very down to earth. My mom took a photo with her. My server was the sweetest and most polite person. She checked on me and my mom multiple times. She was friendly and helpful. So I must say my service was welcoming and AMAZING! I felt like part of the family! Now it's not a fancy place, but it was clean and cozy. Like a mom and pops place. Condiments are provided on the table. Even roses that were real are in a vase. You can dine in or they have a carry out side. Well I chose fish since that's what I wanted. The 2 piece filet meal comes with 2 sides. They will bring your food out in a plastic container. So if you have left overs it's already set to go. The food came out hot and fresh. The fish was fried nicely. I wish it was seasoned a bit more for my liking. It was pretty good though. It was a great size and again fried to perfection. The hush puppies were really tasty. The fried corn fritter was delicious. The pickled tartar sauce was unique and I loved it. OMG the cabbage was so DAMN GOOD! This stole the show. It was cooked perfectly and seasoned with love. It touched my soul and I wanted to lick my container. The Mac and Cheese was a NO for me. It was like black pepper and cheese sauce. It was just blah and II didn't even eat it. However, others may like it, but it wasn't that great. Sorry Nana! Overall I had a good visit! I will definitely come back and EAT when in the area. The cabbage won me over. I left feeling happy and full. The southern hospitality was FANTASTIC!

Bussers kept tables wiped down constantly, and the staff was super friendly, checking in to make sure we had everything.
