After drinks at Hotel Drover, we decided to stay on property and grab lunch at 97 West Kitchen & Bar and I'm very glad we did. First, major credit to Avery and Nancy, who were incredibly kind and patient considering we arrived fairly close to the end of lunch service before the restaurant closed for its afternoon break. We never felt rushed, which I really appreciated. I started lunch by ordering another cocktail (which may or may not have had me buzzing a little by this point) along with the 12 oz. prime rib steak served with buttery herb mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and chimichurri sauce. I'll admit, the steak was thinner than I expected for Texas (I sort of anticipated a Flintstones-sized slab of beef) but honestly? It was fantastic. Juicy, flavorful, melt-in-your-mouth tender and cooked perfectly! The mashed potatoes were rich and even the vegetables were great! My dining companions ordered a bit lighter fare, I believe a salad and grilled cheese, but I was far too focused on my steak situation to pay close attention. I left absolutely stuffed and very, very, very happy about it. The atmosphere here is upscale without feeling pretentious. Between the Western inspired decor and the relaxed energy of the Stockyards area, it feels welcoming. Also worth noting: apparently bachelorette parties featuring men in cow-print overalls are welcome here too, so truly something for everyone. Great service, great food, and a really enjoyable dining experience overall. I'd happily come back the next time I find myself in Fort Worth! read more

My steak was cooked like I requested (rare filet). It tasted fine, nothing to write home about. I had a wonderful experience here for the Christmas Day brunch with my family. Everything from the service to the food was exceptional. The hotel is immaculately decorated for Christmas during this time of year which is such a magical ambiance. We booked the brunch a month in advance via Open Table as we were staying in the hotel for Christmas Eve. Our table was ready upon arrival and the food was brought out promptly once we placed our orders. They have a prix fixe menu so, you pay a set cost for three courses. I ordered the pickled deviled eggs and lobster omelette. Both were wonderful. In fact, it was so much food, we had to take our leftovers and the last course to-go! My husband and I enjoyed the experience so much, we plan to return for other celebrations. Our waiter Avery was training and amazing! He really made the experience extra special. I've always wanted to go into the Dover Hotel because it's so beautiful, and I always see people having a hoot on their back patio. A visit to 97 West Kitchen & Bar was just the excuse I needed! It's gorgeous inside -- the vibe is cozy and cute -- and it was surprisingly busy for a Thursday evening. I had the fried green tomatoes and the steak and tomatoes "salad." I say "salad" in quotes because, although it's listed under salads, my waitress immediately told me it doesn't actually come with greens (though she said I could add lettuce if I wanted, lol). Nevertheless, it was wonderful! I loved the pickled onions, blue cheese, and sweet bread croutons -- and the fried green tomatoes came topped with pickled beets, which was such a nice touch. Let me start with the positives, the steak was cooked almost exactly perfect and was the juciest and most tender filet I have ever had. The potato hash was also amazing. Service was lacking, nothing I would expect at a restaurant of this caliber. I probably could have just ordered myself through a kiosk. I have had better service at a higher level at Texas Roadhouse. We had dessert, the bread pudding was dry as a bone and firm as hell not very appetizing. I would suggest they go to Chef point and have bread pudding there and understand that it needs some sort of sauce to offset the dryness. NOW lets talk why 2 stars.....about 2 hours later my gut blew up. This was the only thing that I put in my mouth besides a pastry in the morning. I came here with my family on my birthday and it was nothing short of amazing. Started off with the bacon...drippings over jalapeño cornbread...how can it get more Texas than that?! We were there for lunch so I got the Wagyu tri tip for my entree. Moist and perfectly cooked. The ambiance was perfect especially in January right after the holidays. Gorgeous Christmas decorations everywhere. Our waiter was very attentive. We did valet instead of parking in the Stockyards parking lot which is well worth it as we walked around town after lunch. We had this place in our bucket list for while and I'm so glad we finally pulled the trigger and tried it. We had a recreation and got seated right away upon checking in. From the moment we sat down to when we laid the service was fantastic! Our waitress made sure we had everything we needed as well as gave us some great recommendations to try. This place has good points and bad points. The atmosphere of this place is amazing. Our waitress was really good even though she was a little green. You can tell she was trained well. Had the Corn Beef Hash Benedict and the Ranch Hand Breakfast. The Ranch Hand was really good with nicely cooked scrambled eggs, perfect bacon and very good pepper gravy. The Corn Beef Hash Benedict was a good with a nice hollandaise, and the potatoes were incredibly good. My only knock on this place is the biscuits are incredibly dry. The fact that tops and bottoms were brown but not crispy is a sign they had been sitting in a warmer for to long. Absolutely love this place! Located inside the Drover Hotel at the Stockyards, this restaurant is an experience from start to finish. The food is incredible--especially the charcuterie board, which was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. I also tried their spicy margarita and it might just be the best I've ever had--perfectly balanced with just the right amount of kick. Parking can be a bit tricky in the area, but they do offer valet, which makes things much easier. Next time we would get two BLTE. The steak & egg had no sauce and too much meat for breakfast. I know this is against public opinion, but I am not a huge fan of 97 West. I made reservations for Mother's Day and it was definitely not what we expected. Service was not great and our food came out all at different times. Honestly, it was a very odd experience and I couldn't even tell you what we ordered. I continue to see rave reviews from other yelper's so maybe we will try it again in the future. Yee-haw, throw your best cowboy swag on and giddy up to 97 West for their ambiance. It's vibrant, beautiful and will make you feel like an electric cowboy! My best rec for getting the most out of this experience would be to go for a drink and dessert... their desserts hit the table like a calf run. Our table was like bunch of 4H kids trying to wrestle down a bite of our favorite one: Pecan Pie, Bread Pudding and Chocolate Mousse. The prize calf was definitely the Bread Pudding! It reminded us all of a fancy, delectable Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I'm still dreaming about going back to have round two of it. :D As far as drinks, I didn't get to try anything with alcohol but our sweet waitress had the bartender me a mocktail. You have to get sweet and spicy bacon... it comes with jalapeño cornbread that is soaking up the bacon juices (see pic). It was a table favorite. I had the chicken and waffles for my entree. It comes with a twist, herb waffle with fried chicken and gravy. The pickled okra slaw is chef's kiss. You can add the maple syrup to it as well. We had mimosas with our brunch. You can tell everyone else at the bar was also just as impressed by her. She made me the BEST margarita I have EVER had. I had the raspberry jalapeño margarita with a salted rim.
