We visited Dos Mares today on opening day and were well rewarded with a delightful dining experience in this newest offering from restauranteur and Chef Juan Ramon Cardenas. This sister to his Don Artemio is located immediately next door and is accessible through a lovely sea green glazed tile covered door. The interior motif is a delightful contemporary rendering of costal Mexican beach and architectural themes employing Mexican tiles and materials constructed by Mexican artisans. So enjoyable. The restaurant features two chefs who come to Dos Mares each representing one of Mexico's two coasts and that coast's indigenous cuisines, Pacific and Gulf. Our affable, energetic, and super helpful server, Bri, was remarkably well versed in all the menu offerings. And when one sees the menu and the nature, complexity and variety of the ingredients in the authentically artisanal Mexican dishes offered here, one cannot be anything but impressed with this server's knowledge and ability to provide genuinely helpful insight and recommendations. As we waited for drinks, a top shelf Marg for me (terrific, but pretty dang pricy... ask first. I didn't. LOL) and a brut Cava for Anne, we were presented with a demitasse cup of broth from the Caldo Dos Mares along with a variety of fried tortillas and salsas. We started with Ceviche Frito. Perfectly fried bites of octopus, sea bass, and shrimp in a red tiger sauce with an ash garlic alioli. Very nice. This was followed by the roasted beet salad with goat cheese, greens, walnuts, pumpkin seeds and a yogurt citrus dressing. For an entree we shared the Tacos Estilo Baja... tempura fried sea bass with garlic ailoli and cabbage slaw. We both greatly enjoyed this taco. The fish was fried to a moist, flaky perfection. We're pretty excited about this Mexican seafood addition to the FTW dining scene. Particularly as they will be doing lunch which is when in our old timer years we eat out.

Service was top tier from start to end, attentive, informative, perfectly paced, and genuine. Our server, Yessica, gave us a wonderful background to the concept and the dishes, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. Each course was presented beautifully, without being fussy, and maintained a hint of rustic charm true to the dishes origins. The meal started with a lovely assortment of tostadas of different ingredients and flavors, with a trio of house-made salsas and optional habanero salsa. Each salsa was unique and flavorful. While we enjoyed a yellowtail tostada as a starter, we were also presented a lobster bisque amuse-bouche which was delightful, delicate, and smooth. My companion had the octopus with ink sauce, served with garlic rice and plantains, while I enjoyed an incredibly tender skirt steak with roasted potatoes and delightfully crunchy grilled leeks. Both dishes were served with a side of tender blue corn tortillas. As a nice surprise, my companion was presented with a complimentary glass of bubbles as we'd mentioned at the start of the meal he was celebrating his new job. The menu prices were very reasonable for the quality offered and in comparison to other restaurants in this tier. All in all, a wonderful experience that will certainly bring us back again and again.

Dos Mares is a new concept by the chef owner of Don Artemio. Dos Mare's means two seas, representing both coastal regions of Mexico. The food was fresh and fantastic, really great flavors. The service is impecable, Sladon was excellent. The dining room has a tropical feel. Overall, great, can't wait to come back.

Enjoyed our first experience and looking forward to the next visit. Fun ambiance that makes you forget you're in Fort Worth. Great wait staff. Great menu, complimentary tostada and salsas, tasty margarita, and fresh fish! We'll be back next time with friends to enjoy the shareable flan.

The noise level was extremely high...we literally had to yell just to have a conversation with each other. Service was also very slow. It took about 15 minutes just to be acknowledged at the bar, and close to 30 minutes to actually receive a drink. When I finally ordered, I told the bartender to make her favorite drink. She made something that included raw egg whites (which I later learned is common in certain cocktails), but it wasn't mentioned or explained at the time. A few hours later, I became very sick...vomiting and dealing with what felt like severe food poisoning all night and through the next 24 hours. After looking into it, I suspect it may have been related to the raw egg used in the drink. Just something to be aware of if you're ordering drinks like a whiskey sour or anything that may include egg whites. After getting our receipt (which you need for the speakeasy entry code), we checked out the speakeasy portion, but the vibe there wasn't great either..pretty must the same as the other part of the bar. We ended up leaving within about five minutes. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype for us....between the noise, long wait times, and how we were treated, it just wasn't enjoyable. For comparison, the bar next door, Archibald, felt much more welcoming. Maybe regulars have a different experience, but as first-time guests, we were not impressed.

We had a reservation, which I'd definitely recommend because it gets busy especially on a Friday and parking is limited. Once we were seated, the server gave us a nice rundown of the menu. We started with the hand rolls, the Masu Tartare and Toro Tartare and both were delicious. I personally loved the Masu more, but you really can't go wrong with either. We also ordered calamari, which arrived a bit later. It was okay, nothing spectacular, not as crispy as I hoped but the rest of the meal more than made up for it. For sushi, I had the Spicy Atlantic Salmon and the Kani Koi. I absolutely loved the Spicy Atlantic Salmon...it was definitely a favorite but my fiancé preferred the Kanikoi, so everyone wins. We also tried the Kamasu - Barracuda, which was just as delicious. Overall, everything was perfect, and I can't wait to come back to try more hand rolls and a few other dishes.

I am a Sushi novice to say the least, but my grandson and daughter wanted to introduce me to his new favorite restaurant, he's 15 so I had to see what he was raving about! The only reason I gave 4 stars is, cuz I am not educated on all things sushi and the extensive menu didn't really break down what each category really meant, the place was packed so clearly it's a newbie issue. I mentioned to our server Cameron, who was so polite and professional by the way, that it might be fun to host a monthly Sushi 101, where people could make reservations and for a flat rate the attendees could learn the difference between sashimi, sushi and all the other preparations for the cuisine. People could taste and sample each type and learn a little bit, giving them confidence to put Hush in their local food rotation. I really enjoyed my experience, and will do some research on the different options so I can try some new foods, I have no doubt I can ask my server, but that would have made me uncomfortable making the rest of my party wait while I learn, this was a spur of the moment invite so I didn't have time to do research, totally my problem. I will be going back once I learn more! I enjoyed my food, the Tempura Shrimp roll, we also really liked the smoked salmon roll, the crab rangoon, and shrimp fried rice, all was delicious! Very nice place for a date night, if you like sushi you won't be disappointed!

They've got wall projectors showing off beach scenes, the bar is the prow of a ship, and a ring of booths with thatch roofs surround the bar. The suspended ceiling sort of broke the vibe, but they'd worked to make it translucent and backlit. Overall, a cool pirate vibe. The service was great. We were there on Saturday at 2pm, shortly after they opened, and it was a single bartender...so his service was great. Drinks were interesting. They do a number of riffs on tiki drinks: their Morse code is a take on the classic three dots and a dash, they have two zombie riffs, they have a riff on the Painkiller. If you're looking for slavish adherence to the old recipes, this ain't your place. But they're not reinventions, and that's a very tiki thing. Some are misses - the black walnut bitters in the Pain Kill ARR made no sense, but the light rum and lack of honey in the Morse Code were bright and refreshing. Over the span of 150 minutes the two of us had seven drinks and three mixed shots. All well made, all generally good, no absolute home runs. Totally worth a return trip. It'll be fun to visit during a busier time.
