Been here a couple times, and each time i've enjoyed myself. The interior is fairly small, and if you come on a busy night it might take a while to get seated. However, they do have a patio in the back that you can use as well. This place focuses on craft cocktails, and its a nice lounge/bar to grab a drink and catch up with someone. My all time favorite drink was a clarified tomato cocktail, but when i went back this past weekend, sadly it was no longer on the menu. They switch up the drink menu, (not sure how often) but its nice to know that you can try different drinks. They also sell small snacks (nuts and crackers), definitely no restaurant style food. This bar may not look like much from the outside, but it's totally different inside. Very intimate, calm place for craft cocktails and conversations. Not stuffy at all, just a nice change from the loud drinking spots around it. There is a very nice patio in the back for when it's not so hot, too. The extensive drink menu ranged from a classic old fashioned to a blue drink that was serviced with a pool floaty wrapped around it. I guess they currently have a tropical theme! The staff are so patient and helpful, try to hone you toward a drink you'll like. After a couple rounds and some talk about what my husband likes, the bartender asked if he could surprise him with something off menu. It was incredible and is his new favorite drink ever! I first heard of Proper at Craft, a philanthropic event that had all the bars in the area competing for the best cocktail. Within 30 seconds of walking in the door, I smelled dirty rag. It was not the ideal first impression. After I consciously decided to focus on something else, I noticed the cool décor and older music playing, and I appreciated the large bottle of water on tables with glasses ready to go. The menu is a little book. Make sure to read the rules at the beginning. I've never seen rules like these before! It took me a while to review the menu and I think you have to be a bartender to understand all the different types of alcohol :) I was in the mood for a snickers martini and they made something similar. It was delicious. Only complaint is that it seemed small. Next up was a spicy pickletini. I like pickle juice and this was probably the best pickle drink I've had. The kick from the spice was perfect. Their menu is extensive and their bartenders are experienced, so I can't imagine being disappointed with the taste of a drink. Shout out to John "nuts and bolts" who according to the owner/ manager is the hardest working bar-back in DFW. Proper gets SO busy after 9:45. The older crowd dwindles at this point and then people in their 30s-50s remain. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here. My boyfriend and I took our time chatting over drinks. I would come here again around 8:30 before it gets too crowded. As I mentioned earlier, I found out about Proper at Craft and after visiting and seeing the variety of drinks they offer, I think they did themselves a disservice to serve a margarita. Y'all have so much more! P.s. I entirely planned on telling the bartenders about my complaint of the dirty rag smell according to rule #6, but I didn't realize how busy and loud the place would be when we decided to leave. read more

My husband found Proper on Google and saw the raving reviews. Naturally, we wanted to check out the place. It's a wonderful spot for a ladies night out or to get a couple of drinks. There's seatings inside, at the bar, and outside. The bartender ( I think her name's Julie) was awesome. She made the most fabulous (and strong) drinks. I ordered the Cosmo - standard drink that all bartenders should know. The Cosmo had a blue sugar rim, which was my favorite part, and the pour was delicious. My husband ordered the old fashion - a good pour. He loved his drink. He also ordered the Pearl Heart which was made with tequila. He said that it was so smooth and easy to drink. We ordered a charcuterie board. Hands down - the best one I had so far. The owners made the jam and the mustard seeds - it tasted so good with the different cheeses and meat. A must when you come here! As for the parking, I wasn't sure if the lot behind Proper was for them... but we managed to find close street parking. We will be back with our friends. They work their own bar and try to remember all of their customers' names. They have a variety of craft cocktails. This is your go-to place if you're tired of the craft beer scene - although let's not forget they do have 6 taps of craft beer for the beer lovers out there!! Great atmosphere, quaint and inviting. Enormous liquor selection. Although they don't serve food, there is a Thai place next door that is amazing! You can order food from Spice and eat it here. Love giving back to local businesses. I had an appointment at the Apple Store for my phone.... the process stressed me out so much that I wanted a drink and the ability to work at the same time..... Im not from Fort Worth, I am from Dallas (Before you ask why would he come here for an iPhone appt... its because they had an appointment that was not a week away like the store in Dallas) I pulled out my phone and found this little quaint bar. I am so glad that I found this place. Tanner proved to be very knowledgable about liquors, beers and cocktails in general. His bareback Akeen was wonderful and engaging, he is a bit shy but bring him out of his shell and he will keep you smiling :) The first drink I started with was a Pisco Sour, which was simply splendid, I followed that with an Old Fashioned made with a smoky Mescal. If you have never had a smoky mescal, I highly recommend that your try it! The ambiance of this place is one where you feel comfortable bringing your laptop and working or studying while having a drink, similar to Starbucks; yes they have free wifi :) or just bring a group of friends and chill out for a bit.
