I love hanging out at the Usual! I go for silent book club a couple times each month, and sometimes just to hang out. The lights are usually low, the service is friendly, and the drinks are delicious!

Why don't we go

I went after dinner for drinks and got the why don't we go 8/10. It was smokey and fruity all at the same time. I did remove the burnt cinnamon stick because the smokey flavor was overwhelming. It tasted great after. The ambiance is okay. There was nothing that stood out to me. It had a small bar area and the rest of the seating felt like a hall.

I've been coming here since not long after they opened and although, inevitably things have changed, one thing remains the same they serve a good cocktail. Yes a menu is provided and undoubtedly has some unique options the bartenders can make anything you ask for. Service is good; conversation even better. I enjoy visiting on weekdays as it can get a bit crowded on weekends especially after dinner. It's always a nice calm vibe and I typically sit at the bar so service is spot on. I'll see you guys soon!

Damn good craft cocktails. I've been a couple of times. We usually go earlier in the evening for a post dinner drink if we go to Magnolia Ave for dinner somewhere. Drinks are phenomenal and the service is great too. Lots of seating with an outdoor patio too. The lighting is low and the ambience is chill. Prices are really reasonable given the level of effort to make them and quality the of the drinks. It's kind of got a hidden entrance... we walked right by it the first time.

The usual is a great cocktail bar on Magnolia, perfect for any occasion. We had a couple drinks while we waited on our reservation next door at Nonna Tata, and the ambience is cool, cozy, and upscale. We quickly brought our friends here to show off the intimate booths and great service. I highly recommend you save some time to drop by and stay a while!

Dry martini. I need to head to Houston to get a good martini. Could drink that in one gulp

I dont ever need to come back here.I purposely stayed on this street stopping at various places until this place opened up because I have been wanting to try this place out the last two times I've been in Fort Worth but every time I'm on this street it's never open. So you come and there is no sign by the entrance to hardwood floors and it's very loud in here. The bartenders are the mixologists that craft bars are into. I just wanted a dry martini with Ketel One. I told him I don't like olives or any of that crap. I just want a dry vodka martini. He decided to put some kind of lemon garnish stuff in there so it didn't taste like a dry martini at all to me. For the record. I hate citrus fruits especially lemon. But it takes a very long time to get a drink here because they go through a lot of extra steps that to me aren't even necessary. I was a bartender during grad school and I know 80% of the crowd want a good strong drink in a timely mamner. This place is for the other 20% that defintely aint me. The drink probably had about five sips worth in it and it was $12. Naw. I'm good on the spot. It's not romantic because if there's more than six people here you can hear everyone's voices reverberating off of the wood and I'm not really a crafty person. I just wanted a good martini and I didn't get one here

They charged for the ice cube. The fk. Never coming back never suggesting

So this is my spot. I come here all the time for happy hour and on other occasions. Today the drinks were sub par and the service was worse. I don't know if the person serving us was our waitress, but she slammed our drinks down, tried to tell us ice cubes was the preferred way to make and old fashioned and was outright rude. I'll come back to see if the happy hour crew is the same, but will never come back on a weekend. Embarrassed...since I brought a friend here and bragged.

An old fashioned in a booth. Pardon my blurry cam, but it was a great drink

After failing to find a cocktail bar on a Monday night. After two failed attempts at finding a place to drink the usual was highly recommended and less than a mile away from the other two places I tried to go to. I called to make sure they were open and to my surprise they were. I walked in and I wasn't expecting it to be this dark. The atmosphere is interesting, a large variety of alcohols behind the counter accent the darkness of the bar. It's probably a lot darker than I thought it was going to be since the sun was still out but I dig the vibes and the booths in the establishment are really nice. The staff are very friendly and were very nice to me since it was my first time in a bar. The staff are all wearing masks which makes me really happy that they're following CDC guidelines. They're also certified sanitized which makes me feel more comfortable about the whole place. I ordered an old fashioned and it was interesting seeing them light up an orange peel in front of me. It left a nice aroma to the drink when I originally thought that it was supposed to just be garnished with orange. If I'm ever in town I'm definitely going to hit this place up again.

This is the best place in Fort Worth for craft drinks at a reasonable price. I visited The Usual on two recent occasions, so I combined each visit in this review. The area is dimly lit. There are plenty of tables and a patio area. There is lots of space for people to move around and you won't feel squished. I loved the ancient mariner (mostly rum) and it wasn't sweet, which is my kind of drink. The bartenders were great. We had a large group playing a board game and they stopped by our table several times to refill waters and ask for our orders. My second drink was off the menu and had grapefruit juice. Still, the mariner was my favorite. On my second visit, Matthew made a kick ass earl grey shot. Try it if you can! I ordered the ancient mariner (again). It took 15 minutes to make because they needed to find the right bartender to make it. It was still worth it. The bathrooms are unisex and were well-kept on both visits. Overall, this is my number one place to go for craft drinks in Fort Worth.

Yelp Elite Event…read more... I tell you, Kendall, once again, you put together such a wonderful evening. It is always wonderful to see our Elite Family. I love West Jax! The environment is relaxing and classy, and it was the perfect place for a night out. Customer Service: Always top-notch! Brittney, our server, was always present and was able to help me choose the perfect drink that matched what I desired. I wanted a Whiskey Sour, and because they did not have that on the menu, she suggested the Smoked Rosemary Blackberry Bourbon Sour. She was spot on; it was delicious, and it was my first time to have a smoked drink. It was different, and every drop was enjoyed. Our entertainment for the evening was Clover the Violinist. She is FULL of talent and kept our tunes going the whole night; she perfectly mastered all genres. I was happy to find out, she plays at that location occasionally. I'd love to support her, when able. She played a bit of SZA, Justin Beiber, Chris Brown, Chris Stapleton, etc. What a great night of entertainment! The Food: Crave Cookies - Thank you, Crave. I appreciate you adding to our beautiful night with your cookies. Perrotti's Pizza: Thank you, Perrotti's. I appreciate you treating us to pizza! What a great night!!

I also like that there's a parking lot in the back.

The noise level was extremely high...we literally had to yell just to have a conversation with each other. Service was also very slow. It took about 15 minutes just to be acknowledged at the bar, and close to 30 minutes to actually receive a drink. When I finally ordered, I told the bartender to make her favorite drink. She made something that included raw egg whites (which I later learned is common in certain cocktails), but it wasn't mentioned or explained at the time. A few hours later, I became very sick...vomiting and dealing with what felt like severe food poisoning all night and through the next 24 hours. After looking into it, I suspect it may have been related to the raw egg used in the drink. Just something to be aware of if you're ordering drinks like a whiskey sour or anything that may include egg whites. After getting our receipt (which you need for the speakeasy entry code), we checked out the speakeasy portion, but the vibe there wasn't great either..pretty must the same as the other part of the bar. We ended up leaving within about five minutes. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype for us....between the noise, long wait times, and how we were treated, it just wasn't enjoyable. For comparison, the bar next door, Archibald, felt much more welcoming. Maybe regulars have a different experience, but as first-time guests, we were not impressed.

We ordered nachos as an appetizer to split, along with two beers and a kids meal. What arrived was Motley Crue waking from a drug binge, raiding the pantry and trash, then declaring "let's do it." What was supposed to be nachos was anything but. The only explanation is someone who had never seen nachos tried to recreate them after hearing a rumor from someone at a Lowe's parking lot. The "chips" were not tortilla chips. They were rectangular strips of pale, flimsy material that looked like scraps of drywall film pulled out of a new construction site. An albino drywall experiment that somehow escaped the kitchen and landed on a plate. The entire thing was covered in barbecue sauce, with some mystery white liquid poured over the top. We assume it was supposed to be queso, but it definitely was not queso. Calling it queso feels disrespectful to actual queso. We ate maybe a quarter of it and decided we needed to leave before things got worse. Six hours later, we received an unannounced encore performance in the bathroom. I would avoid this place like a plague outbreak--unless you have an upcoming colonoscopy and want to skip the bowel prep.
