We have been to Grandma's plenty of times, and we usually have a good time. Last night however was the complete opposite. Unfortunately it wasn't a good night out here. It started while my wife and her friends politely asked for song requests from the DJ. The Dj then continued to tell my wife to "get off his Fu**ing stage". My wife then asked him why he was being so rude and cursing her out if she was being polite. He apologized and said she was right. My wife goes to tell the bartender what happened, and that it was uncalled for. The bartender tells her "stop complaining", very rudely. I went to meet friends at this location. Didn't realize that my ID was expired. Was checked by door person which they denied which was OK with us and I let them know, I didn't realize I didn't have my valid ID with me so I waited outside of the premises as we were waiting for a friend who we were meeting up with. While my husband tried to go get my valid ID from our local hotel we were staying at... my friend tried to go in and went in to let the people know that we were meeting but that we weren't able to get in because I needed my valid ID. Then the owner came out and tried to call the cops on him for no reason and it was bizarre. We were totally okay with waiting for the valid id but meeting friends, from out of state--- and instead they called the Cops for us for having Convo with people that were on the patio that we could speak to because we were waiting for our valid ID to actually get in. Bartenders were very rude very inattentive went off a very new employee who is a bar back and sleeping with one of the customers. She's a very young customer. We are much older. We've been going there for multiple years and she made a huge scene tonight which made us and multiple people that we know and we've let multiple people know about this place and not to go back to again. read more

Terrible service. Rude staff! The owner was rude. I am a New Yorker and had a terrible time! All of the reviews say it's a safe space and it is not. The owner was in and was terribly rude about have a group of 6 black queer folks. I am not from Texas but I definitely went to college here and they all suggested to come here cause I am a karaoke queen and came on a Sunday per the review quest. As a review reviewer all of the reviews are lies. Even the bartender was an asshole. The sad thing is my friends and I wanted to bless and tip the staff. Grandma's is grandmotherly in a warm "stay as long as you want" sort of way. Nothing about it's aesthetics make me think "Grandma," however. It's a trendy little space with live music, karaoke nights, shot specials, a dance floor, trivia nights, DJs, and mostly a pretty young crowd. Jon and I stopped in on a Sunday night around 10pm, and lucky for our people-watching-loving selves, it was karaoke night. We watched and listened and talked and Jon ordered an old fashioned while I had a cider. Jon mentioned that his cocktail was well made and that they had a fun beer selection. I had an Austin East Cider and was wishing I could find more ciders that are still served in glass bottles (and not Angry Orchard, please). I suppose that's selfish and not as environmentally friendly of me, but I swear cider just tastes better out of a bottle! Oh well. Next time I'll probably just order a cocktail instead. It seemed as though a lot of the folks at Grandma's knew each other, so there was a nice camaraderie amongst all the buzz. Everyone really appeared to be having a great time and the vibe overall was so comfortable, which is probably the most important thing a bar should be. Comfy. I see Jon and I returning to this spot, especially since it's right next to Shinjuku Station (my forever favorite restaurant). Amazing location, fun menu, warm atmosphere. This is my happy place! The only downside is not having it closer to my house. But it is definitely worth the 20minutes to visit from North Fort Worth. Music is fun and varies. Bartenders are the best of the best. Our first experience was during Pridefest 2023 and we had so much fun we couldn't wait to come back. Grandma's doesn't have food but you can order delicious dumplings delivered from The Pantry next door! We are so happy to have found Grandma's. It has become a regular spot for us. read more

i come here often, typically on sundays, that's their karaoke night! great crowd, sometimes a bit livelier but sometimes it's cute and quiet and you can enjoy intimate conversations on their couches and lounge chairs. the bartenders are very attentive and friendly when you need something, kendall- she always serves me with a smile, often ending the sentence with kind words :) she has great recommendations for me when i prompt her to make me something sweet (my go to), in my last visit she even offered a sample of the neighboring stores' newest addition to their snack menu to ask for feedback. nice to see local businesses support each other. overall, really nice and relaxed bar to enjoy on my nights off, will always come back! read more

Formerly Off the Record, Grandma's was a great experience! It seemed like there were a lot of people there for before 5pm on a weekday They had the newly released Martin House Spicy Pickle Beer. They served it with a garnish of Best Maid Salty Lady pickles... which was amazing. The bartender was super cool and spent time talking to us about the future plans for the bar... they are apparently making a kitchen and will start serving food at some point. She even offered us some cookies they are trying out for the restaurant. It was clear they were renovating the place when we walked in but it seemed mostly finished. I'm excited to see what happens with it and I hope the service stays as good as it was today! read more

Grandma's is a fun little dive bar on the far reaches of Fort Worth's hip Magnolia street. We visited for a quick drink on a quiet Sunday night during a recent visit back home. When we were locals here, we practically lived in the various dive bars dotting Magnolia, and we were impressed by all of the new additions that have sprung up in the years since we've been away. On our survey of the street, Grandma's, with its dark, low-key interior, looked the best so we stopped in. Although I was expecting something a little more composed, perhaps with a cocktail menu, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Grandma's is more low-key and you can just order what you want. The friendly bartender was happy to make us two gin gimlets, which were well done and delicious. We sat on their patio, alongside what seemed to be regulars, and enjoyed the nice spring Texas evening. I look forward to visiting Grandma's again on my next visit home. read more
