Food - I tried the pulled pork sliders from the appetizer menu and oh my goodness they were perfectly balanced, they cooked the meat perfectly and the portion sizes were pretty decent. I am so excited to come back and try the Reuben, yes we eat sauerkraut over here. Service - I came right in between shift change, so Garrett was our bartender and she was phenomenal. She was so inviting friendly, great conversationalist, and knowledgeable. You could tell that she loved working at the post. Having a bartender like her guarantees that I will come back and I want to bring everyone here. Greeting - when I first entered it appeared that a server was at the host stand, and she was so inviting even when I said I was just going to sit at the bar. How you get greeted at a restaurant is your first impression and every single person made me feel welcome especially coming in as a party of one. The drinks are absolutely phenomenal and it looks like they have performances quite often as band members were coming in to get set up for a performance. This place was in a very cool building. The bar tender was really nice and friendly and made great cocktails. They don't have a full kitchen but considering, they made delicious soups and sandwiches for us. I had the green pozole and the Reuben which were both great. It was super quiet when we went, probably due to the cold weather on a weeknight but we had some heaters which meant we could sit outside. I'd love to come back in the summer or when they have a live band playing. A great little spot. read more

There's a lot going on on Race Street, lots of little vintage shops and boutiques, small restaurants, a coffee shop -- and The Post is really at the center of it all in this tall, historic building with big stairs out front. It used to be a post office back in the 40s-60s. Now it's a restaurant, cocktail bar, and music venue with a cool history and very Fort Worth-y setting. I haven't been here for music yet, and honestly I haven't even been inside. I've only sat out front on the patio a couple of times and so far I really like it there, if the weather permits. The front patio makes me think of a Spanish style courtyard, very spacious and pretty with walls all around you and the sky above. Plenty of tables. There's an outdoor bar with a few seats as well. The menu is super simple but satisfactory, a handful of appetizers and sandwiches. Jon has had and loved two sandwiches so far, the Cuban and the pastrami Rueben. All sandwiches are $10-$12 and served with your choice of salad, potato chips, or the borracho beans (made with Bockslider beer). Jon has tried the beans and the potato chips and gives each a 10 out of 10. The sandwiches he still talks about. Meanwhile, I stick to the appetizer menu which is more gluten free friendly. Their $5 house-pickled veggies are fantastic (cucumbers, carrots, white onions, red peppers, jalapeños, garlic cloves, and dill), and I'm obsessed with their pulled pork nachos: super well-seasoned and delicious pork, lots of melted cheese, pico de gallo, big slices of fresh jalapeño, and sour cream on tortilla chips. I've had countless nachos in my lifetime and few have stood out to me, but these guys really did. I think the pork is just extra tasty. And the chips are perfect. And it's only $8 for a 1/2 order of nachos which is ideal for me (it's plenty of food, honestly). A full order is only $14 though, and you'll never regret it! Okay now the drink menu. It's wonderful. Not one drink is over $10. There's a variety of classic cocktails like your Old Fashioned and French 75, then there's several "signature cocktails" like the Dilly Dally made with gin, cucumber, lemon, sugar, and fresh dill; the Pink Panther Tiki made with rum, coconut, and fresh tropical juices, and the Short and Sweet made with tequila, honey, jalapeno, citrus, and spices. There's also a lovely (though incredibly small) wine selection and plenty of great beer -- and all so affordable. It's starting to get warmer outside so I'm sure I'll see the inside of The Post soon. And hopefully I'll go for music one day.. In the meantime I'll be on the patio with my nachos and Italica Spritz. read more

We went to see Zac Wilkerson play tonight here. We had never been here before but we will definitely be coming back. Great venue. Love the inside and outside. The food totally surprised us as we didn't have high hopes for it but I would give the chips and queso, turkey rueben and pulled pork sliders 9.5 out of 10. My brother in law said it's the best rueben he has ever had. We will be coming here more often for sure. read more

They were out of beans at the beginning of the day. So not "out," just not made? Or...?  I was looking forward to these and the beans are one of the only sides on an already very small menu. I ended up with a side salad (the typical thoughtless side salad - just lettuce, tomato, and carrot) with ranch. Not thrilled. The brie appetizer was mini toasts and brie wheel, both no better than what I can buy at any grocery store, with chopped bacon on top. The jam was okay. I think I expected it to have more of a bacon jam flavor but I had to add a bacon piece to each toast to really get any bacon. My sandwich was very mediocre - about half the meat and cheese I expected with massive slices of red onion and tomato. And they should not have toasted the bread on my sandwich - it was not toasted in other pictures I saw nor described that way on the menu and it made it dry and hard to eat. The pulled pork nachos were fine, but nothing memorable. No doubt the music and environment are great and I can picture a hopping weekend spot here for sure. The staff is super attentive and friendly. But skip the food. It might be good drunk snacks on a bar run on Race Street on Friday or Saturday, but for a proper lunch or dinner, nope. Came on a Tuesday night to catch up with 5 other friends of mine, and there was no one else there except us. The string lights and yard games just brought a sense of coziness to the place, and I just love the calm ambiance of the place. We ordered salsa and chips, and it was good. My entree, The Grateful Veg, was one of the most delicious veggie sandwiches I've eaten in a while. Everything was extremely fresh, the hummus flavor was incredible, and the bread's multigrain helped unify is all. I got two glasses of wine, and sipped a little of my friends cocktails. Highly recommend the Dilly Dally! Taking a star away, because the service was not great. We were literally the ONLY people there, besides the server and bartender, and we rarely had our waters refilled, had to call him over. He kept forgetting to take our drink orders, and would say "I'll be right back", and didn't come back for a long time. He did apologize, but still. I spent about $40 that night on 2 glasses of wine, entree and splitting chips and salsa. That is definitely more than what I wanted to pay, and more than what I'd pay elsewhere. But you're paying for a restaurant close to downtown Fort Worth, with "high-end" casual hangouts. Overall, a good place to have a nice catch up with friends. read more

We came here on a warm Saturday afternoon, the place was pretty quiet, only a few different parties. We sat outside as I'd seen photos of the courtyard and it looked cool. However, there are no fans or any type of cooling so it was pretty warm sat outside, we managed to get a seat in the shade, in the sun would have been unbearable - I don't know how they will manage with the summer months. We only came for food and drinks, I would like to come back for their live music - the atmosphere would be a lot different. Our server was a little slow. I ordered one of their cocktails (I can't remember the name, the list has changed since from the menu photos posted here), it wasn't very enjoyable to be honest - I made the mistake of mixing the what I assume was grenadine on top within the cocktail, it was suppose to have some brut in too, which I couldn't detect. We ordered the nachos, which were ok. Nothing to rave about, didn't care for the raw jalapeños served with it. My husband had the Reuben which was served on rye and due to the size of the bread was a very small sandwich, with hardly much meat in - wouldn't order again. The bill is all done on their handheld devices, so no paper checks or check presenter pads. TBH I was looking forward to coming here, and was disappointed. read more

I have only visited for drinks. However, I've heard they have a great brunch and shows. The drinks are good and reasonably priced, they also have great specials even on weekends. We've been to the Post a handful of times for lunch and it was great. Haven't checked out a show there yet, but I think the space being so small and intimate would make for a great music experience. The menu is small but everything is very good. Service has always been great, even with small mishaps they are always very communicative and helpful. We went for tequila day weekend and split a tequila flight which was fun and delicious. I always get a salad but their sandwiches are good and their beans side is amazing. Awesome hummus too. The acoustics are great and the servers are attentive throughout the night. I really like this place, a few improvements and it would be a five star stop. The atmosphere in the patio, the area to watch games and even the back patio are greatly set up. The drinks are packed with flavor and while you can't taste strong alcohol you can feel that it's there! ;) The sandwiches are OK but lack a bit of flavor; they are still pretty good for lunch fare. It was a great place to hang out with friends, and if you have a large group it's perfect for that. I really like the location, eclectic spot growing in Funky Town. I like their appetizer choices, wide range of interesting of interesting choices; my favorite part next to the drinks. The waitress was friendly however the setup was a bit confusing. We didnt know it was open seating and we didnt know if or when someone was going to come serve us. They may be served well with a big sign up front with instructions. Id like to bring a big group of friends here. They do have live music sometimes. I hope others experience the goodness so this place is here to stay. read more

Visited after hanging out at the stockyards. It's fairly close and I had hoped there was actually a nice view since river is in the name. No view, but the outside seating is nice. It's a portico feel. We visited Saturday afternoon. No live music or anything. Our waitress was prompt and friendly. We ordered the Cuban sandwich and pulled pork nachos. Everything tasted great. The Post has been on my to visit list since it first opened. Finally made it last evening. We arrived around 6pm and were only the 2nd party on the patio. We were promptly greeted and told to sit wherever we'd like. The patio was close to full (social distancing full) when we left. Not only with us two legged creatures but the 4 legged as well. Such a pet friendly patio! Our waitress was friendly and knew the menu. She also makes a mean mock cocktail as neither one of us were drinking last night. She also brought a carafe of H2O to avoid an empty water glass. Excellent call! My friend had the pulled pork nachos and enjoyed every bite. They looked delicious - especially with the fresh jalapenos. I'm BIG on fresh over pickled. I had the ham & brie on the house baguette. The jalapeño bacon jam is to die for. Each sandwich comes with chips, beans or salad. I had a salad with Russian dressing. That's right! When was the last time you even thought about Russian dressing. It was a nice change. The salad was super fresh and included the house pickled veggies....oh the pickles! Since we weren't full enough we opted for some homemade vanilla bean ice cream (so good) with caramel & whipped topping and...WAIT for it...the post nuts! However we found this place on a top-five Fort Worth branch list, don't even waste your time it's just sandwiches and hummus... This was our second time to The Post. The first was about a week before the lockdown to see Kolton Moore & the 2nd was last night to see William Clark Green. This is SUCH an incredible listening venue. I LOVE the fact the shows are a bit early. They have amazing craft cocktails and a good beer selection as well. The food was incredible. I LOVE the Brie Wheel from the appetizers & my sis and her husband had the Black Eyed Pea Hummus. They were awesome. My husband and I both had the Rueben, sister had the BLT & her husband had the Club. We all loved our sandwiches. Live Music is my passion and I love that this is a small room. If it were practical, I would love the shows to all be "intimate shows" like last night. The energy for Kolton Moore was great, but intimacy for WCG was incredible. read more

We had a nice little lunch here. We were walking to go to the brewery next door but thought this place looked cute so we went here. We sat outside under an umbrella in the shade - we had one of the dogs with us so that was nice. The outdoor area is super cute - it looks like a bombed out or dug out old building or barn/stall? It's unusual but it has character. We didn't go inside. We got drinks and a plate of nachos. Service was, slow. We did get our food and drinks but no small plates so we could more easily share the nachos. We would have gotten more drinks but she never came back. We did eventually get the check and were able to leave. I mean, we enjoyed the place - it was such a nice day and it's a neat outdoor area. I came into town from Ohio to visit family. My niece recommended this place to eat for good food because of her previous experience. According to the website the kitchen is open from 2pm to 10pm but on the Google site it notes that it is open from 4pm-12am. That caused the first confusion. We went ahead and went at around 3:30 to double check and they had said that there was a private party that just ended but they were going to open at 4pm. To avoid having to wait an additional 30 minutes, my niece took me around the fort worth area to note the changes that were happening. We went back at 4pm, and at that time an employee came outside and said that they had to sanitize the tables because of a private event that had just finished and that it would be another 30 minutes. at this time there was other another two groups waiting as well to come in to eat and those groups left as well. I do understand that tables have to be sanitized but if a restaurant is supposed to be opened at 4pm then it should be opened at 4pm. Specially when we had arrived early and employees stated to come back at 4pm. If they knew that they were not going to open until later than the usual time then they should of let us know from the beginning instead of telling us to come back at a certain time. The Restaurant should have cleaned a few tables for customers while other tables are being sanitized as opposed to not opening the entire restaurant or change the hours of operation on their website. read more

Stunned. I don't have irrational expectations of service on a Saturday night. This place was a nightmare. The waiter apologized the first, second, third and fourth time he came to our table. We had a table for 4 inside around 8pm. We ordered 3 margaritas, 1 beer and 3 appetizers. The queso, nachos, sliders and margaritas were good. This is a really neat venue in the River East neighborhood of Fort Worth. I came here for a book club and truly enjoyed the setting. They have a great outdoor area and a stage inside for concerts. It's truly a great set up. Food options were good and they had a neat play on chips and cheese that's worth trying out. I will say, it became hard to order as the server didn't frequent our table a whole lot, but that might have been more because she didn't want to interrupt our groups time. This is a funky little place. I got tickets to see a Texas music band here and it was not what I expected. We walked in and there was a few chairs around the outside of the room and a few tables in the middle, everybody else has to stand. They sell food, but, I'm not going to stand up and eat. Sound was good, especially for a small place. Service was great, all the staff were really friendly. Will probably go back for the right band, but, well be better prepared next time. read more

Absolutely abysmal service. We went there a few weeks ago and I was waiting outside in the heat for nearly 30 min to be acknowledged and seated and no one checked. Finally I went to a guy and he said to sit wherever. Finally once my party got there and we ordered. We again waited for about an hour and our food still hadn't arrived I asked the waiter again what was taking so long and turned out he hadn't even submitted the order. All this trash service I didn't have much hope for the food and safe to say I've had better food at a local Starbucks which is trash enough. The whole experience was absolutely the worst dining experience I have and I will make sure my friends or anyone who mentions this place never comes here. This place is in its early days, so rating 4 stars until the kinks are worked out. This place is a gem. What a treasure to find such a great atmosphere in the heart of Oakhurst/ Rivereast!! The charm and character of the building are unmatched in Fort Worth. Fantastic outdoor courtyard with music and ambient lighting. Good wine list, but the craft beer list could use a pick me up. Local light beer...nothing special. Food menu is basic with salads and sandwiches, but they are darn good! Appetizer menu needs some diversity too. Initially offering ribs and wings, it's been downgraded to dips and flatbreads. The house salad is delicious. The veggies are marinated in a vinegar wash. We also ordered the beef and mushroom sandwich, which did not disappoint- yummmo!!! I'm looking forward to many nights here and seeing the menu progress. So excited about this place. read more

This venue has great potential. The worst are the tiny, uncomfortable chairs inside the bar area. Perfect size for a 10 year old. The night we were there it was 28 degrees outside, but the manager insisted on keeping the door open. A patron finally shut it and got a thumbs up from freezing customers, but staff later opened it back up so we left. On a positive note, the bar tenders are awesome, and the sound system is perfect for the size of the room. Great potential. read more
