Good food and great service. We were at an event and decided to get food and drinks at Boo Ray's. We enjoyed ourselves!

As soon as I walked into the building, I was immediately greeted by the general manager yelling across the kitchen at her staff, repeatedly screaming at them not to "use the dummy again," whatever that meant. The environment felt very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Most of the employees appeared to be very young and seemed confused and unsure of what they were doing. When Jordan brought my food out and handed it to me, the bag broke and my food fell to the ground. Instead of addressing the situation, she looked at me as if I was supposed to pick the food up myself and go to the back to get another bag and repackage everything. Only after I spoke up did she go to the back, bring out a new bag, set it on the table, and walk away to take a phone call without assisting further. I then asked to speak with a manager (not the GM). Another young lady came out and responded by saying that "some people would have picked the food up and put it back in the bag," implying that it was a personal preference. At that point, I was honestly shocked. The level of customer service and professionalism was extremely disappointing. Overall, the customer service experience was absolutely terrible and left a very negative impression. read more

So I'll just say it, this place looks out of place in downtown Crowley. I passed it a few times and passed up because it just was odd to me. We finally decided to give it a try and we were admittedly surprised. The food was authentic and good! The staff were pleasant and accommodating. We didn't have a full on meal, just a quick bite, but what we did have was tasty and satisfying. We will be back to try it again soon. read more

Boo, can I call you Boo? This is a No! Beautiful establishment and ensemble. I ordered the crab cakes, 1/2 seafood platter and bread pudding. (Came here for the bread pudding). Crab cakes were more corn meal than crab. Seafood in seafood platter was fried hard in old oil. Red beans were canned. Garlic mashed potatoes were from the box. Bread pudding was plain if not for the sauce and the roasted pecans. read more

05/22/26 Friday 1:00pm. Wow! What a difference a few years makes. The service was top notch. So attentive and the food hot and fresh. The restaurant was not busy at all for a Friday lunch. Nice and Cool inside. Did I mention they have a great lunch menu?! Had a dinner portion of lil bits jalapeño fresh fish. It is blackened redfish and it was so flavorful. Even substituted the green beans for fried okra. All cooked and seasoned well. Didn't have room for the bread pudding with bourbon caramel sauce! But trust me it is 5 star amazing!!! read more

MUST HAVE THE BREAD PUDDING! I got 1/2 stuffed shrimp. 1/2 Jalepeno catfish. Squash and sautéed mushrooms. All delicious! I love that they let you order 1/2 of entrees so you get a variety. No where else does that I know of. Lots and lots of room for large groups. read more

I selected Boo Rays conveniently locating Crowley, Texas , to eat my birthday dinner yesterday. The atmosphere was delightful. We got seated immediately and started out ordering our drinks which took an extremely long time to receive and unfortunately we received them AFTER we got our meal. Which is the opposite of how I like to drink my before dinner drink . The menu was full of delightful choices , making it hard to choose. Yet I chose the stuffed chicken, dirty rice and green beans my family selected chicken fried steak dinner and sweet potato fries.. I had forgotten they were a bit pricey but they make it worth the price. Our waitress was friendly and made sure that we were happy with our meals. We picked the perfect time to go, which is about 5:30 in the afternoon and good thing we did because about six it started getting crowded. Very popular place in Crowley, Texas.. I took photos of the menu, our meals, inside decor, and as we were leaving, I took photos of the outside. I'm sure we will be going back. It's a delightful place to enjoy a good Cajun meal and have a good time. I recommend BooRays to family and friends. I suggest you go eat a good meal and enjoy yourself as we did. My family and I drove an hour to eat at Boo Ray's, only to find it closed when we arrived at 9:00 PM on a Friday. Both the posted hours and online hours say the restaurant closes at 10:00 PM, so this was very frustrating and a complete waste of our time. If the actual closing time is 9:00 PM, the hours need to be updated to prevent other customers from making the trip for nothing. read more

Pros: The will cater to whatever way you want your food cooked! Seriously the owner and all staff are aware if they can do something, they will do it. Oysters they will do them however you want just ask! -Staff is very kind, get a big ol welcome and treated better than any other restaurant in the area. Cons- Gumbo, needs a lot of work -Crawfish ettoufette is done northern style, very plain, no taste, no spice or flavor, very bad. Please find new recipe, preferably south west recipe, this could be your number one seller easily if you fixed it. -Shrimp Poboys is lacking something, please take a trip to southwest Louisiana and fix this too. Has no flavor, it's missing some type of sauce, can't put my finger on it! I have to drive all the way to Dallas to get a decent poboy. -After you eat here about 5 times, hard to come back as I'm limited to just oysters, all the southern dishes that I like get old, if they would fix the gumbo and crawfish ettoufette I would eat here 2 times a week. read more

My daughter suggested we eat here for lunch, saying the food was great. Absolutely not. I wanted a mule, but they were out of ginger beer. We ordered the shrimp platter -- it looked and tasted like it came from a microwave. The green beans were dried up; I honestly thought I was being punked. The atmosphere was off, and the entire place smelled like mildew -- like a damp, closed-up bathroom. My daughter apologized and said it's better on the weekends... maybe so, but I won't be back to find out. read more

True OG southern hospitality is alive and thriving here! We ordered a few appetizers and a catfish platter- nothing disappointed and service was efficient and fast. Ask for Kat- she not only has amazing tattoos but an in-depth knowledge of menu as well as great anticipation of your needs. Restaurant is two stories. When we asked Kat what it was like upstairs- she laughed and said more of the same just higher up. Love her spirit! First time I've ever to this place and it was right after I got back from NOLA! The crawfish etouffee was delicious!! My friend had blackened fish and the grilled Cajun caviar we shared was incredible, couldn't stop eating it!! Huge facility with plenty of space!! My husband and I ate here one evening around 7pm. There were only 3 tables of people. Our server was super nice. I ordered the shrimp platter with French fries and fried okra. The shrimp was super tender and delicious and the fries, okra and hush puppies were very good. My husband ordered the Shrimp etouffeé and it it was not good. He ate it anyway and had an upset stomach all the next day. The kitchen is was full of kids jacking around (doing push ups, placing bets, cutting up) so service was a little slow and not much cleaning going on. This Boo Rays is great. My supervisor and myself eat her on a regular basis for lunch. We always get either the fried catfish, shrimp brochette or the boudin, and it always satisfies our taste buds. Boo Rays Hmmmm.... I've been watching food shows on Netflix and they always give 2 compliments before they give constructive criticism. Here we go! Walking up to the front door I smelled the best smoke! I mean that smoke that make u fall in love w your food before you even eat it. We walked in and was greeted and seated right away! Very nice people! Heavy country accents made you feel like you was at ya great granny krib or sumn. Very family oriented vibe for sure. It was at least 3 families of 8plus in there that looked like they come every Sunday. We got an appetizer swamp fries. They were cheesy and the ranch came 2nd to wingstop! Next came my son's chicken strips and fries. Chicken tenders was banging y'all I had to eat some of his plate . Now when the parents food came it got a little tricky... y'all!! These ribs were so underwhelming! && I should've known bc if you know me you know I gets down on that smoker. But anyway, it tasted like they boil the ribs and toss them on the smoker for 15-20 minutes ! Really, the walk up to the front door tasted better than those ribs. I also got some jalapeño catfish over a bed of dirty rice. HUGE portions!! It didn't make u wana slap ya mama but it was definitely a step above the ribs. The breading on the catfish was good and crunchy & I didn't have to tell them to cook it extra crispy so that's a plus! The green beens were pretty good, very much like razoos green beans. They had a nice juice they were swimming in that was flavorful. My wife ordered stuffed chicken that we had to send back bc it wasn't stuffed for one. It was a butterflied chicken breast that they smash cooked soooo thin, poor Lil bird chest was DEAD DEAD! Ain't have no juices left in it so they tried to mask it with the sauce on top... no thank you. To make matters worse it was sitting on top of a burnt stove top stuffing patty with, I guess, crab meat in it ‍ my wife ain't like it so she sent it back... she smashed on them green beans tho My wife got some etouffee. Not much better but we wasn't gone be them people sending everything back. You'll see a picture with a close up on the burnt crawfish meat in there All in all if I did go back I would only get the chicken strips and green beans bc them thangs was good good. Family was visiting and wanted seafood. I realized that I hadn't tried Boo Ray's which is practically in my backyard. We arrived and were quickly seated and given menus. We arrived an hour after they opened so there were only a few people inside. I ordered the jalapeño cream sauce catfish and asked that dirty rice be substituted for the dirty rice. The meal was delicious although very salty but not inedible. My guest mentioned that his blackened tilapia was also salty. Our server was Koko and she was very friendly and checked on us. I'd be open to returning but would probably request that the meal to be lightly salted or no salt at all. read more

In all fairness it has been awhile since I have been there , but I was greatly disappointed when I went. I love food in New Orleans. It has been my favorite city since I was 13 years old. The people in New Orleans love life and it shows in the way they live and the food they serve. With that being said the seafood at boo rays is not fresh. It is the furthest thing from New Orleans cuisine that I could imagine. I have not had decent Cajun or creole food since leaving Louisiana. I am saddened by what Texas has to call Cajun. Please one of you great people from the great state of Louisiana who got misplaced during Katrina open a good restaurant and show people how its done. read more

This is an awesome place to get your Cajun food fix! We were introduced to Boo Ray's in June of 2015, on the sad occasion of a Patriarch's passing. The old Lake Worth location was large enough to handle our huge family group. All the wait staff were attentive and on point during gathering. Our food was as fresh and tasty, as if we were "on the coast". We have since, dined at the Crowley location and still enjoy the atmosphere, the food and drinks. Never had any problems getting seated or having mixed up orders. Typically we're a small group of 4-6, but we can get our our eat on with the appetizers and sampler plates, before the main course! I highly recommend Boo Ray's any day you're in the mood for Cajun cuisine! read more

Pretty good Cajun place close by. Jambalaya pasta was awesome. Large portions and okay prices although a little high. Nice drink options. Cool setup and decor. Negatives - no online ordering for delivery which is a number but you can order takeout which is something. Although it was a great place, I doubt that I will be back because of what I noticed on the bill when I got it. They added a non-cash payment fee to the bill if paying with a credit card. So because of that I sincerely doubt that I will come back as I don't believe that it is right to charge customers more just for using credit, especially without telling them. So that was very disappointing. If they get rid of this in the future then I would be happy to return. read more

Ford was very good. Huge servings. We came in at about 7:30 or 8:00 on a Friday night. We sat upstairs and they only had a few servers, so service was not as attentive as I'd hoped. It was understandable, there were many at the bar. read more
