Wanted an early bite today, so stopped in. Was surprised to find the place a little quiet. Buffalo Shrimp caught my eye the day before. So, I ordered Shrimp and the Crab Balls. Shrimp was flared so it made it difficult to eat. Texture was good and I liked the flavor. Crab Balls were ok. They had a fishy smell which surprised me. The staff can be more interactive and maybe this would have changed my mind about this place, they just made me feel like I was an interruption to their day. Great for lunch. We had a couple of salmon wraps and the Florida cracker burger all the food was fantastic drinks were great service was fast it's a little warm outside in the summer but that's pretty universal. Fans keep you cool while you eat lunch outside, dogs are invited outside and they'll feed your pup water. Highly recommend! I will be back multiple times!!! read more

Another disappointment on St. George st. The spot is very cool and the outside seating is fun. But the food, oh NO. It was so bad. Had to send back a fish sandwich as the fish was clearly spoiled. The other 6 people at the table were also really disappointed with their food selections. Cole slaw was OK. Red Beans & Rice had little flavor. The fish in the Cracker Fish Sandwich:Blackened had that "green pond farm raised fish" taste. for several years i have gone to st augustine for 2 reasons only....to buy hot sauce and to eat a shrimp po' boy at cracker cafe. it is, by far, the absolute best sandwich anywhere. generous portion of fried shrimp, tomato, onion, lettuce and homemade remoullaird sauce that is great. my companion gets a burger with mushrooms, cheese and says it's always good. and...if you get a chance to try cheesy grits as a side, do it! delicsh. service is always friendly and eficient. read more

Disappointing. Service was pretty good. Food was uninspired and bland. Fried green tomatoes were delicious. I had shrimp and grits, very sad. Two skewers of bland shrimp sitting on top of some plain grits. Grits had what I think was a soggy peice of bread that was not supposed to be in there. Cole slaw wasn't bad., it was just tasteless. Side salad was pretty good but the first and only crouton I tried was a decade old. Once that happens I'm done with the croutons. My wife ordered a spinach salad that didn't come out for 18 minutes after everyone else's food was out. She said it tasted good but was a little on the small size for $ 8.95. We stopped for our last dinner out and we were very pleased. The server was very nice and friendly. The food was very good as well. We paid $45.00 for the four of us. Philly Cheesesteak was very good. Wife the blackened chicken sandwich and said it was very good. The fries are excellent! This place is pretty good! Service was great from Jen! Food was good. Plus, I am not sure how many people know but up front there is a sweets shop and OMG EVERYTHING in there is amazing! If you happen to stop by when they are baking you wont be able to pass it up. I got a covered rice krispy treat, candied apple, praline, chocolate covered oreos. So good. I am not sure if its the same establishment but they are in the same building and I couldnt find a location for it on yelp so i think it is. But either way both places have good things. read more

I ate at a variety of places while on Vacation in St. Augustine and unfortunately, Florida Cracker Cafe was the worst of them. Now, that doesn't mean it was awful. It's probably more fair to say, it was just ok. The service was quite slow but friendly, as we waited nearly 15 minutes to have our order taken. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was fair. It did come with a lot of shrimp but the grits tasted like they may have been instant. The price though, I would say is pretty fair for what you get. Nothing fancy, it's not going to blow you away. Eating here is a must, especially if it's your first time in St. Augustine! First gator I've ever had here in Florida that wasn't chewy as rubber! Conch fritters were tender and flavorful and oh man, the scallops! Everything pairs nicely with their wonderful fries and grits. Generous helpings and sweet waitresses and waiters. My husband & I were in town for the night of lights & decided to give the restaurant a try. I ordered the shrimp & grits & my husband ordered the stuffed pork chops. The shrimp were grilled & on top of the grits, which is not how they're usually served, but were good. My husband pork chops were fatty & not fully cooked. The potato salad was really good. Stopped here after we discovered a wait time was WAY too long at a close by restaurant. Had slightly low expectations considering they were trying to shoo us in basically. But man...the food here was great! My girlfriend and I started off with some gator tail, which was delicious and perfectly tender. I got fried shrimp and she got coconut shrimp, which were both great. But the Star of the meal was the Cajun red beans and rice I got as a side dish. They were some of the best I have ever eaten and red beans and rice is one of my favorites. If only, they had an entree option with sausage, this would make me drive a long way to come back! So juicy you have to lean over your plate to keep from wearing it and almost more than you can eat. Weren't a lot of reviews on St. Augustine restaurants, so took a chance on this place as we didn't feel like having an expensive or fancy meal. I got a side salad with my entree, which was made just as I like it. It had plenty of tomatoes, red onion, croutons, and even some sprouts. I originally got the Creamy Italian but didn't like it and changed to Sesame Vinagrette, which was really good. I wish the plate was bigger, as the salad kept falling off the plate as I ate it. I am not a big seafood person, so I got the hamburger upon recommendation by the waitress. It surprised me, as it was a really good burger. Unfortunately, the bun was not toasted, which always boggles my mind. Are there people who actually like a hamburger bun better not toasted? When they don't toast it, it makes me think they are lazy or don't really care about their burger. Maybe it is just a beach thing. If they toasted and buttered the bun it would of been a pretty awesome burger. I also got the roasted red potatoes as a side item, which had too much rosemary for me ( I don't really like rosemary though), but they were okay for what they were. My companions got the clam chowder, which was okay, probably microwaved, and some fried shrimp and fries. They said the shrimp was pretty good and the fries were also better than average. They also had a grilled cheese sandwich, which was fine. The prices were okay, probably a little higher than normal because of the tourist aspect, but reasonable for the quality of food.
