An unexpected find but we'll worth it. The jerk lamb chops were juicy and seasoned to perfection. The jerk burger just the same and the Cajun pasta is one of the best. Not to mention the jerk chicken tacos that are do good I didn't want to finish. This is sure to become a Memphis staple. read more

Saw a post on I love Memphis blog so we had to check them out, boy what a disappointment... The place had no working ventilation so all the smoke from the kitchen was in the dining area the floors were greasy the trash needed to be taken out I mean I didn't get what the staff was doing besides getting our order wrong. The wait time was so slow. The cashier told everyone 20-25 mins. The wait time is actually an hour. The food is not worth the wait. You know how people just put a bunch of seasonings together and then too it with something green "parsley, basil, chives" to make it look appealing? Well this is exactly what it was. My shrimp was over cooked. Fries over cooked. Fish super salty. So if you absolutely must try this place....go two hours before you're hungry and drink lots of water for the salt. Don't bother calling because they will not answer the phone. I called multiple times with no success. I also called while I was waiting on the cashier to greet me (just because I was curious to see if my calls were really being ignored, and I was.) When we called about the status of our order we were then told it was canceled, and they stated that they were not obligated to call us and inform us that the order was canceled. we had to redorder, and Flava house gave the wrong food to uber eats after we inquired about the long wait time specifically related to our order. I really have mixed feelings about this place. The food was pretty good. I had the jerk steak quesadilla and it was seasoned well, not greasy. One of my friends had the wings/fries and the other the jerk pasta. They both liked their dishes. I actually would like to go back and try the lamp chops. Just to go though. The part I didn't care for was the customer service. This was my first time going and it was hard to find because they didn't have a lighted sign. I ended up driving around the parking lot for awhile before I could find the place. Let me just add this isn't the area that you want to appear lost in. Especially not at night. The cashier was really nice. The other workers were okay. They were friendlier to the people they recognized. They automatically box your food to go even if you said dining in. I know they cook the food fresh but we waited at least 30 minutes to get our food and one person had to go back because they didn't give her everything. The drink machine was broken. Everything was flat and watery. No I didn't bother to say anything because it seemed like no else cared. Maybe because I mainly drink water, I could really taste the difference but I was aggravated because I didn't have anything to wash my food down. The food was ok, but it took FOREVER to get it. And no they weren't packed or busy. In fact, a few employees were eating instead of working. I saw one of the cooks licking his fingers (in the kitchen). Overall, the staff just needs to be more courteous and professional. Memphis is my forever home and although I have moved and established my home elsewhere I always look forward to returning home. Many of my friends and family recommended this restaurant for my next visit. The restaurant itself is a nice location although parking can be a challenge. The tall man behind the counter would ensure that I would face more challenges. He was distracted with his phone and not friendly nor customer service oriented. Looking past that terrible first impression, I proceeded to order the salmon pasta entree. While waiting in a seat along the wall I took notice that the service did not improve and the music choice was very vulgar. I was embarrassed to say the least as I was with my Mom. Once my food was ready my name was called and I approached the man again. He opened the larger of the two boxes, as a sort of "presentation" if you will. The second smaller box I had to inquire about its contents. "Bread" was his reply as he bagged the meal. I left disappointed that I would not have much to say about the interaction. Once arriving to my Moms I ate the dish with even less enthusiasm as the cashier. The salmon was a decent portion but lacked seasonings. The 4-5 broccoli florets did little to add to the meal. I did however appreciate that the pasta was not dry. Beyond that I would not return nor recommend this place for that particular dish. Also if you want service and "flava" Flava House lacks in both!
