Very busy on a Friday night. Wait time wasn't excessive because we ate at the bar. I had the conch chowder and fresh wahoo (ono) blackened. I was more in the mood for a creamy soup like the lobster bisque but I didn't know that was an option. The chowder was good and fresh with ground conch and lots of veggies and some spice. The ono was amazing and fresh. My wife loved the scallops which were perfectly cooked. Service was very attentive. Ambiance is a bit lacking as it very much has a diner vibe. I almost didn't review because this place is too crowded already. The quality of food and service is excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Fresh fish are posted on the board. You choose the preparation - grilled, garlic and butter, Cajun, blackened or fried. I've tried the hogfish and snapper. Guests have tried the yellowfin tuna. The fried platter with cod, shrimp, and clams is my favorite. Lightly breaded. The servers work as a team and anyone that passes your table will fill a drink, take a plate, or deliver food. The fish was what I was craving and was flaky, golden tannish brown, and juicy inside!! The potatoes with it were crisp not overdone and a perfect side dish. I had been wanted to go to this establishment very bad for a very long time and now that I have I see how much I was missing out on!!! My friend Elite Yelper Nancy M told me about this seafood restaurant over a year ago. I've driven by a few times only to find out that there's a long line of people waiting to get in. This time when Clyde and I drove by there was the inevitable line of people. They were outside sitting on benches or standing around the entrance. I decided to give this place a chance. I went inside. The hostess said the wait would be about a half hour. I gave her my name and went outside to wait. The folks waiting were very nice. When I said that I hadn't been there before I got lots of suggestions of what to order. We had waited about a half hour when the hostess called us inside. She said to go to the only empty booth. It didn't take long for our server to come to take our order. I told her that if was our first time there. She went over several items on the menu. She also said there was a list of today's fish choices on a board in the back of the room. I checked out the board but decided to order off the menu. For our appetizer we shared the fried oysters. For my entree I got fish and chips. Clyde got the fried combo that included cod, shrimp, and clam strips. Both entrees came with two sides. I had fries and Cole slaw. The food tasted very good. The servings were large. We both took enough leftovers home for another meal. I can understand why there's always a line outside. Just a thought: They do have some places to sit while waiting but a lot of people had to stand. .it would be nice if there were a few more places to sit while waiting for your party to be called. read more

Had been wanting to go here for the longest based on all the great reviews. Finally I was in the neighborhood and got to try it out. Judging by other reviews I expected the place to be a tiny hole in the wall, it was not. The inside was very nice with a decent size bar and a row of booths. On to the food... we went with all the basics... fried fish sandwich, lobster bisque, crabcakes, and threw in the fish of day. Lobster bisque was great but crabcakes were all bread and a total skip. Fish of the day was tile. I ordered it blackened and it was pretty good. The fried fish sandwich was made from cod, this came with two nice size pieces. Overall the food was tasty enough and the price was great. Service worked as sort of a tag team where you never had the same service twice which was fine. The biggest problem though was there was one staff member who really just wasn't nice. Without going into detail they were extremely rude to the customers and even ruder to the other staff members. This caused a trickle down effect and no one was happy. It really made for a hostile and uncomfortable environment for everyone. Life's too short guys, let's all be kind to one another. When you look at all the pics of an old white dive building remember they have moved to a new spot in a large shopping center with a Publix. I liked it here for the service and value, and every time I'm in town this will be one of my stops because I want to try more of the menu. I was never at the old joint but I can't imagine it was better that this place. Tables, booths and a counter makes me think this must have been breakfast joint previously. The seafood is always fresh and delicious... all the girls work together there they are awesome... The Fish Shack is one of favorite lunch spots in South Florida. I have eaten here many times and my only complaint is I can never decide what to get. They have a great selection of fresh seafood and I love a great fish sandwich. Tuna, Snapper, Swordfish & Wahoo just to name a few. I want to try others things on the menu because they look so good, but I always revert back to one of the fish sandwiches.
