cap's is an extremely unique experience with amazing food. you have to take a 5-minute ferry to get to the actual restaurant and once you're there, you are immersed in a historic building with a lot of old decor. the staff is all super friendly, and the food was incredible! the crab cakes were my favorite! the scallops, calamari, and caprese salad were also very good. the key lime pie was delicious, the perfect balance of sweet and sour. i would highly recommend cap's!!

The delightful experience starts when you park and get on the dock for a ferry to this restaurant. A short ferry ride and you get to choose between the bar building or the restaurant building.

This place is cool and has so much history. You have to go. Make sure to get the tour at the end. Melissa was our server. She is great and made it so much better. The food is good. I would suggest the crab cakes.

The ferry needs to be refurbished. Captain was great! Water was leaking inside not a deluge but the cover needs to be replaced. Our server Melissa was great and she made excellent Martini's! We had Calamari with various sauces. My Escargot was good however it needed more garlic. Warm delicious bread and butter. We ordered the seafood platter however the Scallops were not prepared properly, they were fried and Scallops should have a beautiful sheen when prepared properly. Expensive entree's but not prepared with any seasoning or flair. Very boring presentation on our seafood platter,French Fries were soft not crispy. Needs to be updated.

Great place to eat!! Went here to watch the LHP boat parade and it was a great time! The fried snapper was excellent!!! I wish they included the entire thing from head to tail though. The sauce that came with it was so delicious and made the entire dish. Mashed sweet potato's were indeed sweet ! The boat driver recommended the crab cakes and they did not disappoint. Filet was also very tasty ! overall a very enjoyable experience and a Lighthouse Point Staple!

Went to Cap's tonight for the first time in 35 years and was a little hesitant due to recent reviews saying it's gone downhill. Well, those reviews are just wrong. We stopped at the bar for a cosmo and an old fashioned before heading into the restaurant. Our server, Benita, was an absolute gem. So attentive and friendly and gave us a ton of great trivia about the place. We started with calamari and escargot - both to die for. I had the crab cakes (amazing) with a wonderful side of mashed sweet potatoes. So good. My husband got a giant piece of mahi mahi that was the best I've ever tasted. I really wanted key lime pie but we were too stuffed in a good way. I'm so glad we gave Cap's a chance because we will definitely be back!

Applewood bacon wrapped scallops were delish!

A true gem! And so much history all around you. The seafood so delicious! The Calamari and the Maryland Style Crab Cake are a Must! Ask to sit in Bonita (waitress) section. She is so welcoming and truly made our experience that much more memorable. What a beautiful dinner my husband and I had.

Wow! Is all I can say. A true surprise. Overall we give the restaurant four stars. The seafood is well prepared. This is not red lobster where everything seems overcooked. So, I can understand some of the negative comments. I would recommend this place for a treat, a special place to bring out of town guest and etc. Basic ambiance not fancy but the area/location is beautiful and special all by itself. If you make reservations get to the ferry 30 minutes early it runs every 10 minutes between the restaurant and the dock. Stop at the bar and get a well made drink'

Cap's was recommended to us by a local who told us about this unique restaurant. First, you are shuttled to the island restaurant by a water taxi. Captain Joey was adept at driving that thing! Second, this place was obviously very old as there was not one straight wall outside. It was like being in a nautical fun-house. Third, our waitress Melissa was warm and funny. She was like a floor show all in herself. And fourth, the food was outstanding. We had a killer crab cake and escargot to start; my wife had scrimp scampi over pasta and I had a fried red snapper which was perfectly done. The place was hoping on a Friday night and without reservations, we waited almost an hour. Understandable but the hostess was anything but hospitable! She was short with us and jumped on us as we went back inside to be out of the wind that 'it's not even 10 minutes'! Yikes, I was paying to eat there, she could have been nicer. The bartender wasn't very friendly either, neither the hostess or the bartender eked out even the smallest of smiles. It was busy but if it's too busy for them or they were too old, maybe get more help. Regardless of that, the kitchen serves the food quickly and Melissa was attentive and funny; and the food spoke for itself! Give it a try for yourself. Well worth the grouchy staff...

I like the mysterious location, the short ride in the boat, the cocktails. I was not thrilled with the food. I'll give them another try

Our server, Jula, had a visible attitude from the moment she approached the table. The most frustrating part was the lack of basic communication. We asked to adjust an umbrella for the sun; our server spoke with the manager, who looked directly at us, said something, and then simply walked away. The woman followed suit without ever giving us an answer. We understand it was busy due to the Jazz Fest, but being flat-out ignored is not a valid excuse. There are too many dining options in Pompano to waste time and money on a place that treats customers like an inconvenience. We avoided this business for the rest of our trip and won't be returning.

The ambiance is very upscale, welcoming, and sets the tone for a memorable visit. Joey the bartender was very professional, kind, extremely welcoming and very apologetic for the Happy Hour lounge being closed the day I visited which was bit disappointing. As we were leaving, we met Tommy the manager, who was just as nice & gave us a tour of the dinner area which I would love to try one day. He briefly chatted with us and gave us his business card. From the moment we walked in and were handed a glass of prosecco, it was clear this would be something different. There was an intentionality to everything--the pacing, the ambiance, the way each course was introduced. It didn't feel transactional. It felt ceremonial. Each of the six courses represented a different European destination (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and Greece), and what made it extraordinary wasn't just the quality of the food--which was exceptional--but the way the environment transformed alongside it. Lighting, visuals, sound, and narration worked together in a way that made every dish feel contextual and meaningful, rather than simply plated. Every part of this immersive experience contained instruments working in harmony to amplify the meaning of each course. The courses were beautifully composed and balanced. Nothing felt excessive or forced. Each plate served a purpose in the broader narrative, and each wine or cocktail pairing elevated the dish rather than competing with it. What stood out most, though, was how present it made you feel. In a world where most dinners blur together, this one didn't. Time slowed down. You became immersed. Fully engaged. The service was impeccable--attentive, warm, and deeply knowledgeable without ever feeling rehearsed or overbearing. You felt guided, not served. Tommy (the owner/proprietor) and his staff were unquestionably five-stars. By the end, you remembered how it felt to be transported somewhere else without ever boarding a plane. It's worth every moment.
