Comfortable booth seating, bar seating also available, well-lit from natural light. Very clean dining area and restroom. The generous dinner serving of cracked conch was tender but the coating and dipping sauce were bland. The side of yellow rice was moist, but off-white and bland. A friend recommended the Fish Shack and I'm glad she did! The ambiance was just like a fish restaurant from the Florida Keys. Although the restaurant was not very big, it gave you the family owned feeling, which it is. The service was top notch. We were seated and given menus immediately. The waitress took our orders and gave us tips on what appetizer to order. She suggested the Cracked Fried Conch. It was a really good choice. We both ordered Fish and Chips. She had Cole Slaw with hers and I had Cucumber Salad with mine. I also got an order of Fried Shrimp with Coleslaw and Fries and an order of Conch Chowder to go. My wife and I visited the Fish Shack, twice in one week, as we were on vacation from Chicago. My wife ordered the twin grilled lobster tails, twice. The lobster was perfectly cooked, with delicious honey carrots as a side with cole slaw. I had the conch appetizer for an entree, excellent. The other meal I ate was the Fisherman's Platter Grilled Combo. Tuna nicely prepared, Scallops (6) were perfectly cooked. Tasty shrimp. Since moving back to South Florida we have become Fish Shack's #1 fans. Every time we visited, we HAD to make a visit, and when we finally moved back made a point to keep going. We were so sad when they closed for renovations - but the restaurant is new and improved and better than ever! We have now been going every week and can't get enough. They are always busy, so you may experience a short wait but it usually goes quickly. The service is great, everyone is so kind and they bring everything quickly. The food is delicious with tons of fresh fish options prepared in multiple ways. We love their tacos, buffalo shrimp, and usually add in the fish dip, oysters, or conch fritters. I opted for the grouper platter with dill pasta salad and fries. I just wish I wouldn't have ordered my grouper with the garlic butter. The garlic overpowered the fish. It's a small, dark spot near Publix and not very eye catching from the outside. There is no outdoor seating and the windows are tinted. Once inside, the staff is friendly and greets you right away. We sat at the bar and I ordered the grouper tacos, one blackened with cilantro lime sauce and the other with chipotle. The chipotle was my favorite. The fish was cooked perfectly and the portions were huge. They don't serve spirits, only wine, beer, and seltzers. It's not really a vacation vibe spot, but the food was so good it is absolutely worth a visit. read more

I have been patronizing Fish Shack since it was located behind Enterprise. Lately I have been disappointed with two take out orders. I have Stage 4 Metatastic Breast Cancer and unable to come in any longer. We ordered take out twice. One order was two orders of Fish and Chips and the fish in one order was STRINGY. Last week we ordered two lobster rolls and one fish sandwich. The fish sandwich was fine but both lobster rolls consisted of Mayo and hardly any lobster in either of the rolls. What a disappointment. We are not tourists; but twenty year residents of Pompano Beach. We will not return. read more

I've been going to this place for years and will continue to do so. Their new location is so much better because there are more tables and plenty of parking. My husband is a fish snob and is always impressed by the freshness and variety. Not many places carry hogfish and wahoo like Fish Shack does. Servers are always friendly and ready to answer questions or give suggestions. Ambiance is fine, it is casual and what you would expect from a fisherman themed restaurant. One thing of note is that this place is super clean! Nothing ever smells fishy. Bathrooms are spotless. (There is a diaper changing station in the women's bathroom. Some small places don't have that and I really appreciate when places do.) Fish Shack won a local news award for a perfect score on a food health inspection, so you know you are in good hands here. read more

I'm hooked on this fish restaurant! I'm a local and this is the freshest seafood restaurant I have ever been to in South Florida. I felt like I was relocated to the Florida keys. This family run business has been around for 30 years serving fresh fish with reasonable prices. So many different types of fish offerings on the menu to choose from. You can have your fish cooked and served grilled, blackened or garlic butter style. Bring your own fresh catch and it can be prepared any way by pay by the pound. The inside of the restaurant is boat and fishing themed. It's not that big inside and there is no outside seating available at this restaurant. It's a very busy restaurant so prepare to wait for at least 15-20. Bar seating is available with alcohol beverages and beer on tap. I ordered the fresh Mahi sandwich with fries and it was delicious. I totally recommend this Fish Shack restaurant to anyone that likes fish. read more

This was a bucket list restaurant for me and I'm so glad I finally tried it! It's in the heart of Pompano and the vibes inside are definitely reminiscent of the Keys. I loved seeing the daily specials board with a huge variety of fish to choose from. They also have a very extensive menu of so many seafood delicacies. The conch fritters looked fantastic and so did the shrimp and scallops. I ended up going with the blackened grouper sandwich with cucumber salad as my side. You can choose between five different ways to get any seafood here (grilled, blackened, fried, Cajun, or butter). I love blackened and it did not disappoint! The grouper was melt in your mouth and it broke apart so easy like a fresh filet. I loved the taste and would definitely order it again exactly the same! I also loved the cucumber salad. It was refreshing, with no fried flavors and offered something enjoyable on such a hot day. I also think the prices at this restaurant are very affordable for the high quality seafood you are getting! I was told everything on the daily specials menu board is caught daily in the morning and I would believe it by how fresh it tastes. The location is small inside and you will definitely wait for a table. Thankfully we only had to wait 20mins but keep that in mind as I'm sure crowds for certain days or times could put a wrench into potential plans you may have to visit this spot! I wondered what they meant by the name "Large Fries". It was not the portion size or size of the fries lol. They were good. The cucumber salad was my second side.
