J. Mark's completely won me back, and then some. A couple of years ago, we started coming less and less because the quality had clearly slipped, BUT..... Fast forward to today, and it's a completely different story. Everything we ordered was outstanding. The steaks were massive, juicy, and cooked to perfection, easily some of the best I've had anywhere, and I've paid top dollar at high-end steakhouses. The Hawaiian ribeye, in particular, was incredible, tender & juicy. The wings were huge and packed with flavor, honestly some of the best wings I could ask for. They've also stepped up their starters. The new bread with honey butter is insanely good, and the avocado eggrolls with tamarind sauce are absolutely next level. I added on the crab cake which is of insane quality, big lump pieces, it's actually hard to find breading. Service was just as impressive, attentive, smooth, and genuinely welcoming. I even had the chance to speak with the manager, Dani, who explained they made a major shift away from distributors that were hurting their quality. They went back to basics, focused on what made them great in the first place, and it shows in every bite. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time, across any cuisine. J. I came here for my birthday with a group of 8 people. Service was slow, we didn't get refills, I asked for something omitted from my dish and had to send it back when it arrived with it anyway, we were charged different prices than what was on the menu and they didn't acknowledge it was my birthday or anything. I reached out on their website before leaving this review and never got a response. My mom and I went here for lunch and we sat in a booth in the bar area. It's so nice and cozy up there with the big beautiful TVs and a bar that is a piece of art on its own. Our server was Vinny and he was a delight! Very friendly and professional and honest about what to order. I've had lump crabcakes many times before, and they all seem to be the same, full of breading. He assured Me that the Lump meat crabcake at J Marks is superb. Well, he was right! It was the best crabcake I've ever had in my life and I am 67 years old. I have also been to Maryland many times. I will always order this every time I go from now on. The service was very slow! Our server wouldn't take our entree orders and dropped off appetizers and left super quick and was nowhere. We were already there for over 35-40 minutes and no entree orders placed. I couldn't imagine how long it would take to get an entree. Seems like she was too busy. Really was torn between 3 * or 4*, but I will give them the 4. I feel like this steakhouse was going for more upscale and it did have that vibe. The food was good but not amazing and the drink options were okay. I think what made me go 4 was because they were not busy and the wait staff, she really tried to make it great (the best) and they had small July 4th specials like a free Bam Bam shrimp with 2 drinks and steaks had 1 free topping, which she got mushrooms and I got onions. So I will say it was a good experience, not average. The mojitos were tasty and well done. They had bread that was okay, but not great, just kind of a soft wheat roll with butter. The Bam Bam was great and tasted amazing. The steaks, we had the 10 oz Sirloins and they presented well and were cooked correctly and still hot. came with two onion rings and one side. I had Garlic Mashed Potatoes and my wife had the Plantains. No issues and everything was good. The mushrooms for the steak are a mixture, so may not appeal to those who are partial to one type. I ordered a chopped salad, calamari, and blackened chicken pasta for two other co-workers and me. My salad had the wrong dressing; the avocado was a little brown. The calamari was somewhat okay, and the blackened chicken pasta was a real disappointment. The amount of grease on the to-go container was too much. The beef is not quite tender, juicy or flavorful enough for me to consider it prime, it's not bad. It's not unusual to have food cooked a little over done, this may not be the fault of the chef, it might have just been sitting on warmer too long waiting for other food for your table, or the wait staff. Service is fine, but not exceptional, if your water glass is empty, it will be refilled, just wait a bit. Was very pleasantly surprised on our visit here! My first time going to the restaurant. We sat at the bar as my friend mentioned, the bartenders are always amazing and they absolutely were! The cranberry ginger martinis were like christmas in a cup and the tuna appetizer was delicious. I had the lobster tails and they were able to accommodate my long list of food allergies which was great. The restaurant was clean. I've found when it's shown as a combo the portions are smaller, but not in this case. It was a full bowl of delicious soup and the house salad was just as large and fresh and delicious. Solo dinner on Monday 12/2/24. Arrived late without a lot of research or recommendations but the hotel manager suggested J Mark's. Atmosphere, dinner and service were all really good. Based on the bartenders recommendation I went with Fierro Chicken entree. Absolutely full of flavor, super rich and delicious.
