I keep coming back every couple of months to see if this place gets better, and it always disappoints. Ever since this location was bought out by first watch and converted, it only continues to decline. Customer service is not encouraged by management. The pork sausage seems cheap, as it was full of the hard pieces that show up in cheap sausage. The sourdough bread is hard and came out barely buttered, the eggs were undercooked and the food came out cold. They don't offer oatmeal by the cup. So if you like it as a side, you have to buy the whole extra meal. This place is successful because there aren't enough breakfast places in Richardson. When we pulled up and the parking lot had lots of spaces, we just thought we beat the weekend rush there use to be at this location and we were excited. But after entering we realized why. Getting service was a challenge or even to get coffee. After 15 minutes we asked the hostess for her assistance in getting service. After a few minutes a guy came by and said he would be right with us. After a couple more minutes he was. So 20 minutes for coffee. We got our drinks and placed the order. Watched others who can in after us get drinks and food before us. Once it came the eggs were not basted as requested and were cold. The potatoes were burnt in places and still hard in others. The rest of meal was ok. Ran out of coffee in the in the carafe after 1 cup each So why was it not full when received. Yes replacement eggs received hot and correct. The part that really upset me is to see the staff sitting in back booths by kitchen chatting instead of taking care of customers. 5 staff were witnessed in 3 booths. My boss introduced me to this place about a year ago and felt in love with it. After that. AI decided to take my family to this place, I was absolutely sure they would love it, I was not wrong, we have been coming many times. Food is great, my favorites are the pancake with trifecta that comes w eggs and bacon and the veggie burger for whenever I am craving something different. Floridian french toast is super yummy also. Customer service is great as well. I always get different waiters and they always nice, no complaints, it usually gets busy in the morning and they will have you wait 10-15min for a table but its so worth the wait. I write this review as I'm sitting on their patio so I won't forget. I ordered The Works omelette sub sour cream for hollandaise, breakfast potatoes, with toast and preserves. Let me keep it short (not really lol) why it's overrated. 1. Cold food, noon on Friday and it's not packed. I would have at least liked to see my cheese stretch one time. My butter wasn't melted on the toast, because, cold. 2. Omelette execution- the pieces were so big inside, meat and veggies. The long strings of onion weren't done enough. This is just basic tasting food. Why do so many people go here? We waited 45 min and then once we were seated and ordered, we waited another 30 for our food. I have been to First Watch three times since it opened. First visit was uneventful - I ordered normal breakfast fare bacon, eggs, and pancake - the food was just ok. The second visit, I had the lemon ricotta pancakes and they were awesome....until I found a hair in them. We told the server and then a female manager came over to apologize. More pancakes were brought out, however, I just couldn't bring myself to eat them. When we paid our ticket, the pancakes were included-which irritated me at the time, but we paid for them anyway. This was about six months ago. We woke up this morning and decided to go back to give First Watch another try. I ordered the AM breakfast bowl. I take one bite of the quinoa, then flip a slice of banana over.....and well, dang: a short thick black hair. *sigh* the server brought another bowl, but I just couldn't eat it. I did eat the almond butter toast which was just ok. I could have had more flavorful almond butter at home. This wasn't that great. Each piece had three little flakes of "special salt" which didn't do much to help the flavor-perhaps there was not enough of it to make a difference. This time, we did not have to pay for my breakfast, however, management was no where to be seen. The server was apologetic, and I do appreciate it. The person at the register taking payment was more blasé - a lackluster "sorry" I really wanted First Watch to be good. I am done. I really love the food at this restaurant, but every time I go there, the service is HORRIBLE! They take forever to seat you, leave you sitting forever until you get up searching for your server, then you have to get up again and ask for your check so you can get out of there and NEVER come back. We have been coming to this first watch and will go to first watches when we travel because of the consistency and quality of the coffee and food. So it hurts to leave this review. The service at this location is consistently poor and keeps getting worse. Today was the straw that broke the camel's back, we arrived at 8 and needed to be done with breakfast by 850. We waited 10 min to be greeted at our table and ordered right away. I really enjoyed this restaurant! It was modern and comforting. Your server brings a glass jug of water as well as coffee if anyone at the table would like any. I had the Farmhouse skillet hash while my friend ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes. Both dishes were amazing, as great as the service. The Farmhouse skillet hash included potatoes, sautéed onions, tomatoes, bacon, avocado, and topped with eggs - your choice on how it is cooked. You get a side of toast already topped with butter with strawberry jam and a side of fruits which included grapes, a piece of pineapple, cantaloupe, and a slice of strawberry. Oh, how the winds of change have blown into this place. We starting coming here when it was "The Egg an I". The menu was new and progressive to us... and we liked it -- Scrambled egg dishes with Havarti Cheese, Fontina Cheese, Asparagus, Artichokes, Sun dried tomatoes, Hazelnut coffee and fresh fruit. The breakfast was some of the best I've had in the DFW area. Yesterday, my wife and I stopped in for our weekend breakfast. We knew the menu had changed when the name of the restaurant changed but we were totally devastated to know how much it had changed. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon. When it arrived, I was beautifully presented on a plate that was too small, on a muffin was was 2/3 the size of a normal muffin and my side dish....MIXED GREENS!! Holy crapola, who in the world pairs MIXED GREENS with Eggs Benedict? My dish costs $12.00...which means for about $2.00 worth of food, I was completely over charged and left hungry. This is now our go-to breakfast joint when we don't want to leave the suburbian embrace of Richardson. The menu is pretty extensive with both breakfast and lunch options. I always steer towards the breakfast side of the equation and they thankfully have healthy options as well as imaginative menu items that you wouldn't expect at a run of the mill breakfast joint. My wife is most likely addicted to the avocado toast here. Besides the wonderful and thorough menu, the prices are very fair and the staff are super friendly. Not fake friendly that you might get at Buffalo Wild Wings. These servers are genuinely friendly and happy to answer any question you may have about the menu or where ingredients are sourced from. if you want a good breakfast and don't want to break your wallet or belt, First Watch is a pretty good option in good ol Richardson. read more

They also need to update their check in system because multiple people were told 30-40 minutes (including us) and many of us waited for almost an hour. Food was okay. Could have been way better. We came on a busy Saturday morning and I get it, they're slammed. So our server took a while to greet us. By then we were ready to order food as well. When he brought our drinks he gave us our coffee, my "cold brew", and a water pitcher. No glasses for the water. The cold brew was as if they had taken regular brewed coffee and put ice in it and also had a big lipstick print on one side. Which took more than 20 minutes (when another server delivered our food) to tell someone and get glasses for water. (This is an edit: forgot to mention they brought me a completely different drink when I asked for a new glass.) Food was like I said, okay. The potatoes weren't cooked all the way, as if the kitchen was so busy they couldn't cook them fast enough. And my sandwich had half of ingredients on just one side. Our server was so quick to ask us if we were okay that he actually answered his own question i.e. "are you guys doing okay? Good good good". I couldn't get a word in. I do want to say our server had an amazing attitude and I'm not frustrated with him at all. He was working with what he had and was maybe a bit stressed. The coffee is super delicious and If you want a cool beverage the kale tonic is a great. I've been there on the weekdays and weekends. The best time to go is during the weekday for no wait time. On the weekends you are looking for a 15-30 minuet waitlist. You get your money worth and size portions are great. read more

When it was Egg & I the food was always hot, we'd come multiple times a week, LOVE breakfast. Now the real stuff: First Watch, has potential but food is constantly lack luster. Plus being a Richardson resident and working here it's nice to habe a local breakfast joint. Luke warm food or not even warm enough for butter to melt on a pancake. Service is slow, yet I can't discount the smiles from the staff. Ordered "To Go" called it in since I have meetings to attend, plus it's across the street from my office, yet still waited for a long time once I arrived. Because I decided a slightly warm pancake was not sufficient I had to wait for a fresh one which meant, little more time, making the original order cold, but duhh. By the time I got across the street my Skillet Hash had formed up like cement, making it difficult to eat with pleasure. By the way, bring back the old way Egg & I did potatoes, they were amazing. In the end I miss the former, food was always hot whether To Go or eating in, making me at least feel it came directly from a grill. Suggestions, move a little swifter front & back staff, deliver hot and done, watch the front area for new patrons closer, continue with the smiles as it does seem natural and friendly making it appreciated. read more
