Although First Watch is an acceptable establishment for breakfast, the food is sorely lacking in salt and makes me wish it's former occupant ( The Egg & I ). Their pancakes are HUGE. Think "flying saucer" meets carrot cake. They are a little on the dry side but thankful they are not too sweet so the dryness can be remedied with a little syrup. Good for a "healthier" breakfast but not my first choice for indulging. They do have, however, have wonderful breakfast taters! If you're feeling an aesthetically pleasing environment first thing in the morning and some not-so-bad for you breakfast this is your joint. If you want to INDULGE and drown in waves of butter then head to Breadwinners (Dallas) or Main Street Bakery ( Plano and Richardson). read more

Seriously so good! My dad and have our weekly brunches here, so I've tried just about everything on the menu. The waitstaff is always super nice and timely when coming for refills, putting in orders, etc. I can say that the wait is a tad bit off putting, but if you use their app or yelp to get in line online then you can spend that wait time chillin at home until it's your turn for breakfast! Each time I come I expect it to be better, each time I'm disappointed. The food is good. It's the dang service that's so aggravating. For instance, today we registered online, arrived and checked in. Our wait was to be 10 mins which somehow turned into 25. Then we waited an additional 10 mins at the hostess stand for someone to bus the table. Next we waited 8 mins for a server, and only got him because we stopped another waiter asking him to find someone to take our order. After all this, out pancake and eggs arrived cold. This is the old Egg & I (which I did not like). Came in on a Monday afternoon, a little crowded but got a table right away. The decor and ambience was casual and easy going. I got service right away (major plus). I had the steel cut oats that came with fresh fruit, pecans, bananas, a side of milk, brown sugar and a fresh muffin of the day. I also ordered the avocado toast that was stacked high with fresh avocado and two eggs. I had the Kale Tonic which was so tasty I finished it pretty fast. The waitress asked if I wanted a second, I was scared I'd get too full, she kindly brought me a sample of the Root Down which was perfect also. Too much food for me but I was dying to try this place! Not very good at all, kinda sad that this huge chain bought out Egg & I. The menu is more or less the same, minus a few things that they used to have. The food quality is definitely down, as are portion sizes, which is odd considering prices are about the same if not higher than they were. Food is now usually served with a pile of greens (no dressing or anything), which is very odd to serve with an omelette. The food quality is questionable. The menu says the word "fresh" dozens of times, but I'm 99℅ sure that isn't true. The omelettes for example taste like bottled eggs filled with precooked and reheated ingredients. Apparently the national company doesn't treat the employees very well, about half the employees from Egg & I left when the store transitioned. The new restaurant has really weird policies too, instead of coming by to get your drink order and then coming back for food order, they make you sit for 5-10 minutes and then get both from you intentionally. We asked the server and she confirmed this is policy to do this, she didnt like it either. They also don't come by to check if your food is good/as ordered. read more

When you walk in it has a rustic farm feel. I liked the decor. Their menu is amazing. Almost everything you would want for breakfast and brunch. I ordered the french toast. So yeah this place bumped out the old Egg and I. I had not been back over here because honestly I was not a fan of Egg and I. This place has a much cleaner decor and is very simple in design. I love it. I ordered Lemon Blueberry Quinoa pancakes and a side of pork sausage. My husband ordered Trifecta eggs, bacon and a waffle. Both of our coffees were good and fresh. Downside they use International Delight half and half. It would be nice to have almond milk, coconut, or soy creamers or just one as an option for a place that offers healthier fare. I love the juice options and healthy creations on the menu. Our food was a 5 out of 5 seasoned perfectly and was very good. Service. Service was very good. She did not over serve us and was friendly and efficient. Her name was Kenesha Parking. It's been a while since I have joined Yelp, dang glad i did. One of the benefits of joining is seeing new or places you would of never known about. A while ago, I seen first watch being shown as a destination on Yelp. So finally I was in the area performing multiple tasks with wife. I suggested to her that it was time to try out First Watch. Sure glad I did. Started off with their nice blend of coffee. Very smooth and rich taste. I had it black. Then moved on to the Millionare bacon. It is thick sliced, grade A bacon with maple syrup cooked into it. It is a must. Then I ordered an omelette called the works. Eggs were fresh and tasty. Mushrooms called Crimini were fabulous, cooked in a buttery sauce with lightly garlic infusion added. They also used a generous portion of jack cheese. It was awesome. Came here for brunch for the first time, and was definitely impressed. The menu is great with an array of choices. I had their breakfast tacos, and they are some of the best breakfast tacos I've had in a long time. We showed up around 1030ish and the wait was only 20 mins. I liked the concept of texting when the table was ready so you could wander around a little. Our server was knowledgeable in what to have and gave some recommendations, which was a plus. They are ALWAYS understaffed, no hostess to greet people, after standing for about 10 minutes by the entrance finally a waiter sat us down on a dirty table. Nobody ever cleaned the table, and we had to request clean glasses for water. It's not the waiters' fault as they are running around like crazy. This is BAD management!!! This was my 2nd time at First Watch. I must comment on the awesome decor of the restaurant. It has a very modern look with the wood floor and outdoorsy decorations. Service was awesome. I came on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy yet. I was seated quickly and perused the menu. Price wise, I think this restaurant is priced fairly. A bit on the high side but I do appreciate the portions especially the pancake. The pancake itself is probably enough for two people to split. On the 4 or 5 times we've eaten there my VEGAN spouse enjoyed the power chia bowl and skillet potatoes. HOWEVER: There are no heat lamps in the kitchen so everytime I eat there my bacon and eggs are COLD. The buttery spread on the whole grain toast not even sorta melty. There was field manager on the floor one morning we visited and I told with him about this issue. He said: "We tell our waitstaff to get the plates to the table fast". I asked: "What's more efficient and cost effective? A food warmer or hiring a food runner?" That stumped him. Why pay a premium for a basic breakfast you can order up HOT at a Waffle House, IHOP or no-frills neighborhood diner? As for my VEGAN spouses dietary needs, next time maybe we'll find a weekend breakfast buffet that'll cost about the same and sacrifice the cool country decor and chia pudding. read more

Me and my husband have been coming here and haven't had a bad experience until today. We came 30 minutes before closing but that shouldn't be an excuse for bad service. Our waitress Gabrielle didn't bother to offer refills and didn't come to our table to check if everything was ok. The food was bad quality and it was made incorrectly, so when I brought it to gabrielles attention she said it might be because "the kitchen was about to close". I'm not really a brunch type person but first watch is really good! I order the egg Benedict and the ice coffee. My friend said the coffee was the best he ever tried but when I got it, it wasn't that good. It tasted like it had no flavor and I had to put sugar inside my drink and it still tasted okay. This place is always busy for brunch and an excellent choice. Family friendly, (slings and high chairs available) all the staff help not just "your server". There is always a wait on Sunday but I don't mind. It's expected at a good spot. The food is fresh and they have amazing fresh juice options that are sure to hit the spot. My only complaints are that the coffee is a little on the light side (if you're into that it's a win for you.) But for me even this falls short in darkness on what would be considered a regular cup of joe. The other very small complaint is that they are a bit on the slow side, slow coming out of the kitchen. Again expected when a place is so busy and the food is so fresh. But I do feel it's just a bit longer then it should be. Maybe the kitchen is extra small back there or some of the food sits in the window just a little too long waiting on staff. Either way this place is really about a 4.5 for me and I have eaten here a few times before writing my review and We will continue to go back it's def a pleaser!
