Before my son was born, we went here every Sunday - no kidding. We'd get our names on the list (because we're not early risers, so there was always a line when we got there) and stop by the bookstore right around the corner for a little while. Usually the staff is very accommodating if we accidentally get sucked into the bookstore and miss our name being called. The food is always delicious and so quickly prepared. They are always packed on Sunday mornings and we still were served our food amazingly quickly. Definite props to the kitchen staff. The servers are always attentive and a few of them even remember us now that we only go occasionally. read more

After looking up their website, I had no idea it was a pretty decent national chain. Regardless, I was satisfied with the service. Their pancakes let me tell you are definitely on the large size so unless you are a bottomless pit, stick to one or two at the most. I was not too impressed with the omelet however. It was slightly dry and firm in texture and not as flavorful as I expected, but it was still a good eat. I will be back again to try their other stuff. read more

I kinda like this place most days. If I don't get breakfast here, then it is usually at an ihop somewhere. One of the things that I don't like is the way they bring out the coffee. It's in this thermos looking container and it always feels like they only fill it up half way. Just between 2-3 people at one cup a piece and the thing is bone dry. I have a problem with places that are stingy with stuff like that. What I do like is the tri-athlete breakfast. Good, healthy meal that really get's the metabolism going. The egg whites have no flavor, but you can doctor them up with the salsa that they give you. It's a little pricey, but I don't mind going every once in a while. This particular First Watch is on the side of strip mall so there is adequate parking and although it is generally busy, you never really have to wait for a seat. I ordered the Bubba's Benny (biscuits covered by over easy eggs, sausage, and gravy) with a side of seasoned potatoes. And because I was starving and wanted more food, I also got 1 chocolate chip pancake. Positives: -Great food, and was very filling. The pancakes are huge. As hungry as I was, my girlfriend had to help me finish everything I ordered. -Nice variety of breakfast options. Many different items than your standard Ihop/Dennys/Perkins menu. -Service was good, though nothing too special. They have a virtual line that will help you cut through the riffraff that the normal Joe Schmo has to deal with, but don't worry Mr. Schmo, there is free coffee offered while you wait. The menu is lacking the one item to go for every time. Everything is good, but nothing is great. The portions are appropriately sized, but not over whelming at all. For the prize it is average. You now what that say? Schmo money, Schmo problems. Sorry, that doesn't make sense but I just had to use it. It is a good option for brunch, but not ideal. Jessica stopped by to check on us often and was quick to fulfill our requests (we had asked for a few complicated extras to go along with or meal). The Bubbas Benny was delicious. Good portion size and cooked very well. Acapulco omelet was great too. We asked to speak with the manager, Brian, and thanked him for the great service. We also made a small suggestion regarding how they could improve the customer experience even more. He was responsive and seemed happy to talk with us. This location generously supports the community by donating, their food and wait staff for the mayor's xmas children's fund every year. Just got home from this event and really wanted to share my experience. The manager talked with us and I complimented him on the outstanding meal we had. Ham and gruyere cheese grilled sandwich and a delicious salad. SO good. Everyone was very vigilant with cleaning and sanitizing, plus masks. For those still hesitant about eating out, I believe this place is taking all preventative measures possible. PLEASE try it! read more

Used to love this place. But it has gotten really expensive. They charged you extra for every little thing. Extra two bucks for a little bit a cheese on top of your eggs. I go to First Watch for their waffles. Period. They're the best I've ever eaten, and I've eaten a lot of them. But the way this place conducts business drives me nuts. The list of meal options is small, but their a la carte options are so over-priced that trying to put together a few extras on top of a meal/combo makes for a crazy expensive breakfast. And they don't allow substitutions, so for example, today they had a special waffle that they're selling for the same price as their normal waffle. It just has a few different toppings (cinnamon syrup and cream cheese frosting). I wanted a Trifecta with that waffle instead. Nope. No substitutions. But that waffle clearly isn't a meal by itself, so then you can buy eggs plus a side for basically the same price as a full Trifecta, which almost doubles the price you'd want to pay for breakfast. You'd think they would have a combo with just those items for $7 or so, but no. On top of that, on my waffle today more than half of the indentions were holes. They're supposed to hold the syrup. What, after a $60 breakfast you couldn't spare enough batter to fill up the waffle iron? The end result of all of this: every single time I eat here, I either end up leaving hungry or angry that I've spent $60+ (after tip) for breakfast with my wife. I'm done. No more. read more

I have been going to the first watch in lawrence for years and the service is always exceptional. I decided to go to the one in Olathe during lunch break and it was a disappointing experience. There was a long piece of hair in my salad and the server hesitated to switch it out. The server / kitchen took the sandwich out and put it on the other plate. They returned the salad to me after 5 mins reassured me that was a different salad. I know it was the same salad and it is gross to eat someone's hair in my salad. No one took any actions or initiatives to make this better. I will not return to this location anytime soon. read more

We have been here 3 times. All busy weekend mornings. The check in app is helpful and I like the food and waiters every time. This morning however there was a large bearded man who was very rude to us when seating. We got the text our table was ready and a nice girl said follow me but this man stopped us and asked for my name. I said my last name and tried to follow the girl who was already walking away with our menus and he stopped me again and said I need your name and I said she's seating us and said my last name again. He then looked at my BF and disregarded me and said "name sir?" Which I found very rude! My BF said "she just told you" and I said my first and last name this time and the rude guy said "There we go, thank you" in an irritated tone and we went to find the girl who was looking for us confused at our table.
