Good very food, moderate size , not diner size, portions. Problem is it is too loud even to carry on normal conversation. The place was only 1:3 full at 930 on a Tuesday morning but still much to loud. First, I'd like to say that my family frequents this location and normally we have a great experience. Today, however, left us all extremely disappointed and frustrated. We had a party of 8 and we know that means a longer wait. No problem. We put our names in at 10:22AM and were told it would be about 45 mins - 1 hour. After an hour and a half, we saw parties of 4-6 that had come in after us get seated, eat, and left. We inquired about the wait and were told that they didn't know how much longer it would be because the ONLY table that could accommodate us had been sitting with their check but were seated and talking. We waited and waited. Finally, we asked to speak with a manager. After another 15-20 minutes, the table was cleared so we could be seated. I asked for the manager to please come over to the table. We waited 10-15 minutes for water glasses and mugs because they ran out. The food arrived quickly but, still, no manager. We ate and waited- still no manager. The check came without any compensation or discussion with a manager. When we went to pay the check, we asked again for a manager. As only 3 of us were at the table, a gentleman came over and said, "Hi, how are you all doing today? How was the food?" He didn't make eye contact with any of us. We said, "Okay. The food was good." He didn't introduce himself or say he knew we asked to speak with him or anything that indicated he was there to address our concerns. And before we could finish our next sentence, he said, "Well have a nice day," and he walked away. We were so annoyed that I spoke to the hostess, who was very apologetic, and I asked for the manager's name. She explained that the person that came over was the Regional manager, Stan. She explained that their regular manager was in the kitchen helping on the line. I told her what happened and that we come often, so we understood a longer wait - but that we waited an HOUR AND 45 MINUTES before we were seated with a 3 year old and 4 year old and then nothing was handled by management. She apologized profusely and said she's seen us before and would personally make sure we're comped something if we come back. At any point, we would have been happy to accept an apology, but none was offered from management. To say that we're angry and upset at the lack of consideration is a gross understatement. The fact that a regional manager was so unprofessional is even more concerning. The bigger issue is that something needs to be in place to handle parties of 6 or more in the event that the SINGLE table that's larger is occupied. I would appreciate a personal apology from Stan because he had the opportunity to make it right and neglected to do so in ANY capacity. I hope we will be back to give them a chance to make things right, but cannot speak for my entire family. read more

In my opinion, this is the best First Watch. I can only comment on Breakfast as that is when I go. The atmosphere is great, food is good, the servers are friendly but yet professional. The servers all seem to work together and help each other out. As a return customer, I have met many of the servers and the Floor Manager Tori. Very mixed feelings. It's very pretty. The servers are well trained. I like that they put a pot of coffee on the table and the coffee is very good. It's an excellent menu with lots of choices I wanted to try but the execution was less then stellar . I had the croque madam, it would have been great but they put a strange mustard sauce in it. Which is a sin because the ham and Swiss in side where excellent. My wife's scrambled eggs where odd looking ( not well mixed)but she liked them. A big disappointment was the millionaires bacon. Don't bother , it was over cooked and sticky sweet. I know what they were trying but they did not get it right. My friends meals were fine although his wife is very gluten free and of course her breakfast came out with bread on top, so they had to make it over again. They have no gluten free (bread) options. It was expensive $82 including tip for 4. I want to try it again but I don't know. It should be great, but it isn't . read more

Stopped for lunch around 1 PM on weekday and had a very good meal with quick service. The restaurant was about 60% full so I was seated immediately and the server was at the table within a minute. I ordered iced tea while I scanned the menu which is certainly loaded with interesting breakfast/brunch items. The very good, fresh, iced tea was delivered quickly, and I actually asked to have an additional minute to look over the somewhat unique items on the menu. I eventually settled on an old standby - cup of soup and half sandwich. The soup was a delicious Italian wedding soup and the sandwich was a very good roast beef and havarti cheese with some onion and roasted tomato. Although the cup of soup was somewhat small, the overall value was good as the tab for soup, sandwich, and tea was about $11.50 plus tip. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. read more

I stopped in on a Sunday morning by myself to try this place. I used to live in work and the area about 10 years ago and was happy to see a place like this open up, especially a farm to fork type. I was seated immediately, table for 1 around 8:35 in the morning. I rarely get out for a breakfast on my own, so I was hoping this would be a great start to my morning. I decided against ordering a pot of coffee because all of the creamer on the table was this International Delight stuff. If you are a farm to fork, I would expect either real cream or at least half and half not already pre-packaged creamer It took them about ten minutes before I finally asked someone if I was going to be waited on. I got the excuses; "Sorry, not all of our servers are in yet. You were just lost in the shuffle". At least they apologized, but acted annoyed and service was pretty crappy after that. I ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and an iced coffee. I wanted bacon, but $5 for 4 pieces of bacon is crazy. My food arrived about 10 minutes later. The pancakes were big and fluffy. The lemon curd was nice and fresh and so were the sliced strawberries on top. The warmed syrup was a nice touch. They asked if I wanted anything else and all I wanted was a side of butter for my pancakes while they were warm and the butter could melt. I was changing my opinion about the service up until this point. Another few minutes go by and I see the server come back with drinks for the table on my right. Then I see him wait on a table that got seated after I ordered the butter. He finally came back and gave the butter, but my pancakes were cold. He says, "Sorry for your bad experience, your meal is on us." I appreciated that, but would have preferred a better experience. It actually made me feel like, "Thanks, but can you leave now?" Won't bother with this place again unless the service changes. read more

The operational side of FW is what forces me to give this place a low rating. The food is fresh, delicious and the wait staff has always been great (although not worth the ridiculous wait). Unfortunately, the app is finicky (at best) and has never worked for our family. The management takes no responsibility for the app's malfunctioning issues and were unhelpful in seating us any earlier in spite of calling to explain the issues multiple times. If you are going to promote an app as a solution to your heavy wait times, you better stand by it. read more

We have ordered take out here a few times and every time we wait between 45 minutes to an hour whether it's busy or not. The hostess instructed us it would take about 15 minutes. Since we live right now the street we waited 15 minutes before picking up. Once we arrived, we waited an additional 50 minutes. Once we got the food and went home, we opened our takeout boxes to completely inedible food. The pancakes were burnt and rubbery. The other pancakes we got were supposed to be chocolate chip and there weren't any chocolate chips. I ordered an omelet with breakfast potatoes and the potatoes we not cooked I was literally eating raw potato and the bacon was not cut up in the omelet. I was pulling out whole strips of bacon from the omelet and uncut links of sausage.... from an OMELET. We are in complete shock but unfortunately this is the THIRD time our food has come out like this. We keep giving it a try hoping it would be different but nope. read more

I was a little disappointed when going to first watch today. I've been to a different location and had a great experience however was unimpressed with the Newtown square location. I used the app to put my name on the list for a table for 5. The app told me to arrive by 1:25 which I did. However upon arriving to the restaurant I was told the ipads were not working so I had to go to the end of the list. I ended up waiting another half hour to be seated. When my party was seated it was obvious the waitress was not happy to have a table a half hour before closing. The water glasses we received were dirty and chipped. The waitress rushed my party to order and when the food did come it was obviously just thrown together. The waitress then rushed us through eating, clearing our plates as we were taking our last bites and immediately delivering the check. Had the technology been working we would have never been seated as late as we were and rushed through our meal. Overall, a very disappointing meal and would not recommend this location. read more

I give 4 stars for the food and 2 stars for service. When we first went there we had the most attentive and cheerful male waiter and we have been back many times and it's never been the same again. We love all their dishes and eat out a lot so it's become our go to breakfast place before work. We don't go there on weekends because the wait is crazy. However, the last few times we have been there the service by our waitresses have been horrible. They looked unhappy and annoyed to be there. They avoided us and ignored us when we wanted to ask them the status of our meal. My husband has a dairy allergy and we specifically asked not to have cheese and after 20 mins wait there was tons of cheese. When we told her this mistake she was very rude and annoyed. I think people like her should not be working in a service industry. Managers, watch you employees and fire the ones that look upset and do not smile and atleast pretend to enjoy serving the customers. read more

Very disappointing and false advertising. They use the word "fresh" throughout their marketing materials but the food looked and tasted like it was frozen and heated up when we ordered it. Nothing looked or tasted fresh, from the veggie burger to the salad to the eggs. Eggs were under-cooked (not as ordered) and the potatoes were bland but covered in way too much pepper. The worst thing is that the fruit we got had mold on it (the blueberries specifically). Fortunately the manager comped our meal but we won't be back. Awful experience. read more

This is my favorite new brunch place and I have been back four times in the past month. Now that I am writing that I am wondering where my gym bag is ........ Perhaps a little high in price, but good quality and excellent food choices. Fresh & tasty! I find the service to be prompt, personal and very friendly. My sisters and I always come over this way to take our grandmom out for breakfast. Since hot spot closed we didn't have a place to go until first watch. We were super excited to try it. The food is excellent however the service was poor. We waited so long to be greeted, almost 10 minutes. We finally ordered and received our food but our server never came back to see how we were doing. She decided to just drop the check eventually without ever asking how everything was or if we needed more coffee. This was a Tuesday morning... Can't imagine a weekend morning. First off we had to wait over 25 minutes to get our order on a weekday. Unacceptable! Then when we received our order my waffle was cold and looked like it had been stepped on. Good food but very rude service at the front desk. My wife and I went for brunch and were meeting friends. When we arrived, we indicated to the man at the front desk that there was a reservation under a friends name for a larger group. Admittedly this was our first time here and did not know they didn't take reservations - We were only going based on our friend telling us she made a reservation the previous day. Regardless, the man, who appeared to be management, rudely stated he had no idea what we were talking about and they never take reservations. Which is fine, but there was no reason to be condescending. We continued to state that we were meeting friends who likely were already seated and he continued to treat us like we had seven heads. After providing our friends name multiple times another woman finally came up and indicated that they just seated her and the rest of our friends... we were finally shown to our table. The most frustrating and disrespectful part was that as we were walking to our table, we overheard him turn to a coworker and say something along the lines of "I still have no idea what the heck they were talking about", in a very impudent tone. Instead of treating someone like they are stupid, perhaps going forward assume that your customers have not been there before and don't know your policies. Try to be helpful maybe. To be fair the waiter and rest of the staff was great, but if that was the manager he should probably keep away from the customers. read more

This was my first time in First Watch in Newtown Square. It took the waitstaff a few minutes to realize I was was there. The waitstaff came over and took my order for a cup of coffee to go. No problem right? What I assume was the host/ Manager finally came over much later and after realizing it was a to-go order then non verbally with his hands kinda "shushed" me away then left. The waitstaff brought my coffee and directed me to the front desk to pay which was fine. So I waited in line. Behold...the host / Manager said he couldn't ring me up because the waitstaff had the ticket(which she didn't and nothing was produced). So he finishes up with other customers that came in after me then walks away. Now I'm left waiting...waiting....waiting...waiting in the lobby looking confused then a different waitstaff comes up and simply rings me up. Never going back. The restaurant wasn't even at 50% capacity. read more

My fiancé and I came here last Saturday morning (May 13th) and experienced the weirdest service either one of us has ever seen. Our waitress was robotic and rude, standing over us without saying anything and essentially waiting for us to speak to her. I asked her if she had tried two menu items as I was torn between which to order and she stated "No." and no further response. We ordered the millionaire's bacon and when we had finished it, instead of taking away the dirty plate, she came up to us and said "Whose check is this going on?" in an extremely abrupt way. Not to mention the fact that prior to this we told her 3 separate times we were not ready to order, only to have her march over and stand over us 30 seconds later each time. When our food actually arrived, another waitress brought over the food and placed it on top of the dirty plate that had the millionaire's bacon on it...why she didn't take it away when it was clearly a hindrance to the table is beyond me. We felt uncomfortable with the entire experience and left feeling like we had just visited the Twilight Zone. The food was very, very good but the experience as a whole left us with a bad taste in our mouths. read more
