My girlfriend and I love to eat breakfast here. It's our go to breakfast place. Usually we love it, however we had an incident where my girlfriend got hair in her food, which we understand happens sometimes, but it was not handled how we thought it should have been. The service is the only thing that is preventing us from giving First Watch 5 stars. The food is excellent, but the service is poor. I feel like the servers can use the coffee more than me when I am there in order to make them more up beat and approachable. read more

We had lunch here the first week they were open. We chose to be seated at outdoor table and did not get served for quite a while. We decided to go inside and see if we would have better luck at an indoor table. We went inside and let the person at the reception area know that we were not served outside and would like to sit inside. He apologized, set up a table for us, and brought a waitress over to take our orders right away. He checked on us a few times and made sure that our food came quickly. At the end of our meal, he came over and let us know that the check was taken care of. We did not expect or ask for that. We were very impressed that they made this gesture and in doing so, were able to create loyal customers in us. Food was quick and very good! We will be back. read more

follow up. Got a call from First watch corporate I think. Nice touch... now the bad part. Then the restaurant manager called me and offered a free return trip to try the restaurant again. After a bit of discussion he got to the point where he DISAGREED with my assessment that the omelette smelled rotten ( to both me and my companion ) because no one else complained. I had asked the waiter to smell it ( the odor wafted from Hi the plate so it didn't require putting your nose in it. I also would have thought the manger, who made excuses about being TOO busy to address a customer complaint that he heard about (he remembered it) other than to comp the meal.. Well it's not my fault no one else knows what rotten eggs smells like. Would have been ok all he had to say is sorry I don't know what happened and went from there. Poor customer relations. Went today for the first time, it was crowded and had an approximate 25 minute wait! Check in on line at least 20 mins prior to arrival if you don't want to wait but Complimentary coffee is offered!! Now the good part...SHRIMP and GRITS!!!!!! I don't know of many places in this area that serve shrimp and grits but I wouldn't go there anyway! DELICIOUS shrimp and grits!!! My daughter is a picky eater and had the chocolate chip pancake...it was so good she took what she couldn't finish home with us!! My wife had some breakfast sandwich that looked like it was in a commercial and said it was very good! Great overall experience and will definitely be back for more!! **I saw a review that complained of the price of a cup of coffee...they pour you a cup and then leave the pitcher on the table. So for the price it is plenty of coffee to enjoy without having to ask the server for a refill and definitely no wait for that refill...unless you're eating delicious SHRIMP and GRITS!!!!! read more

I've visited this location many times, and the food is usually decent. The service is always somewhat lacking, whether inattentive or insincere. The last two times I have come to this First Watch, I've asked for my eggs to be over medium, and I've been so disappointed by how they turned out. The first time this happened, I did not ask for them to be remade, but after a repeat offense I decided something needed to be said. The first attached picture is the first eggs that were brought out. They were so runny that I couldn't move them onto the other plate without them breaking and spreading everywhere. Our server did not come to check on us or ask how the meal was, and was nowhere to be found until I had finished the rest of my meal but the eggs. When the server finally came back, I asked for the eggs to be redone, and the second plate that came out was still not cooked correctly. Though the eggs were cooked together and physically connected, one was severely over cooked and rubbery while the other was liquid, shown in the second and third attached pictures. the server came back to ask how the remade eggs were, and I informed him they were still not right. At this point, my friend had been finished with her meal for 10 minutes, so I did not ask for them to be remade again. What kind of upper crust breakfast establishment can't cook eggs to customer specifications? The server apologized, but no manager was ever involved, I was not offered any kind of discount for the trouble, and I will likely not be returning. read more

I had a GREAT experience at First Watch, a new restaurant in Newtown Square! (3735 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, 19073) I heartily recommend it!! Apparently they are a National Chain which I'd never heard of - but this one has a very distinctive local vibe! It has a varied menu with an equal combination of breakfast, brunch, and lunch choices. (It's only open from 7 AM to 2:30 PM.) It has a lot of interesting and healthy variations on classics - like the 'Florentine Eggs Benedict' made with very fresh baby spinach, avocado and tomato on toasted ciabatta (it was delicious!); you have to ask for the accompanying chopped sautéed potatoes - but there is no extra charge - and they were good too! Have you ever had 'Carrot Cake Pancakes'? They say that they are "humongous" and it was almost larger than the dinner plate - and oh so good!! Ask for a cup of coffee and you get a very large mug AND a big thermal carafe full too - all for $2.89. Certainly enough caffeine for the day! Although I saw a lot of 'healthy choices' there were also all of the 'regular' classics that you might want. The ambiance is modern, interesting, and open-feeling. I have to say that there were a LOT of people eating there at 10 AM, and it was rather noisy; but still had a lot of open tables. The wait staff was prompt and pleasant and did a really good job of making everyone feel welcome and they were very attentive. There is also a small outdoor patio - it looked nice (but way too hot today) - but it seemed like the traffic noise from West Chester Pike would be annoying. I will definitely be returning to this place - try it! My vegan dining experience here was very good. My only request is that they add a non-dairy milk option for the coffee. My avocado toast was very good, the lemon wedge on the side compliments the taste of the avocado toast very well. I substituted breakfast potatoes for the eggs that come with the avocado toast (just a bit pricey for avocado toast. When I arrived, we were on a waiting list, however, we found out there is also an option to put your name on the list before you arrive, from home. We will be doing That next time, however, the wait was very reasonable for a Sunday at 11:45 am. We were seated after about 25 minutes by a table in the sun :-) Our waiter, Trey, was exceptional and made us feel very welcome. He was friendly, professional, and gave the table a lot of attention, despite the crowd. He was very accommodating when we asked to make modifications to our orders and he acted like it was no problem at all. read more

We saw him write it down. 20 min later we saw other couples go that definitely arrived after us. We spoke to the hostess and she sat us immediately with no apology. We waited for our waitress. Then we waited for our coffee and tea. She finally came back with it and an attitude, asking us if we were okay. We said we'd like to order and she said nothing and proceeded to the table next to us. We got up and left. We didn't need our food spit on. They were all having a bad day. I think this is our new favorite breakfast spot!! I must add that I am a picky breakfast eater because I love to find healthier options, most healthier options are just ok, this place was A+!!! I ordered the power wrap and asked for it to be on their whole grain bread instead of a wrap. It was so fresh and full of fresh veggies, the bread was delicious! My husband he shrimp and grits and said it was the best he's ever had. My 4 year old had a chocolate chip pancake and was moaning when she was eating. There were a few pieces left from her pancake and she insisted on bringing it home because "it was so good!!" We will definitely be back!! We came in at 12:10 and placed our name on the waitlist and were told we had a wait of 20 minutes (we understood, it was a busy morning!) After about 25-30 minutes I asked the ETA of the table and was told "you're coming up!" I went back to sit and wait. After 45 total minutes of waiting and seeing multiple parties come and get seated I went up to the other hostess and asked what's the approximate wait time as we have been waiting for a long time. She said we were 6th in line because "whoever makes an online reservation can come in and 'check in' and gets bumped up to first in line". Obviously after hearing this we got up and left and said the situation out loud and about 4-5 other parties left after hearing this restaurant's "policy" for patrons waiting for a table. Let's think about this logically: if customers were constantly making online reservations, coming in, and "checking in" at the hostess table my family and I could be sitting there waiting until closing time. The kale juice , was tasty but I ordered the sweet pecan salad....one if the worst salads I have had in a long time. The description sounds Good, and had it not been slathered in a warm thick dressing more appropriate for a sticky bun, I could have enjoyed all their fresh ingredients. Good breakfast except for the grits.....they were watery and appeared not to have been cooked.....a blob of melted cheese on the top hid the grits themselves,,,,should have sent them back but on a Sunday morning this place is a zoo and our waiter was getting flustered because of the demands that the seniors were putting on him.....they wouldn't pour their own coffee (the pot was on the table) and they wanted soy milk for the creamer...avoid Sunday mornings between 9 and 11if at all possible or take advantage of their get in line selection on their app. read more

On arrival your first impression is this is a fun place. While reviewing the menu you think oh what a healthy menu. This comes from the names of the different selections, new carrot ginger chai, healthy turkey, sunrise granola, AM Super foods bowel. Disappointment sets in when entree arrives. Ordered eggs, over. The eggs that arrived were so small and the yolk was broke. The eggs are not organic. If you Claim to be a breakfast restaurant and can not cook an egg, really. My partner's egg was also delivered with a broken yolk. I have never ordered eggs in a restaurant which were delivered with a broken yolk and so tiny. They should add the words very tiny to their description of the eggs. The prices are comparative high for breakfast but does not deliver value. Great disappointment. When I complained about the egg was informed by wait staff they are told to past it off what ever way it turns out. Avoid this place and go back to your local breakfast restaurant. This is my official first re-review, a follow up to my first ever and only review on yelp. I have bumped my score from 1 star to 2 stars. I want to thank Ashley with her follow up and awesome customer service. If there was one good thing that came from my experiences was her. She deserves 5 stars just for her. That's where it ends. So I gave First Watch a 2nd chance. This time I brought my girlfriend along, so this way I have a 2nd opinion and in hopes of not being too harsh. But after our experience, she agreed with me and I am not just being petty. First, I understand it was a weekend around brunch time. I was expecting a wait. But a 30 minute wait??? After we got seated by a nice young lady, a nice young man took our order after 15 minutes. We ordered our food. After a nice 45 minute wait we finally got our food. This is a total of an hour and a half from walking in until getting my food. I ordered their special. It was a play on Huevos Rancheros but with cornbread and poached eggs. It sounded delicious and the description explained it as the eggs being on top of the cornbread. When I got it, my food was cold, the corn bread was on the side and here is the real kicker - The yolks were hard. I didn't order hard boiled poached eggs. My girlfriend got the frittata. It was good if you like an open a pile of scrambled eggs with additional ingredients. Frittatas are supposed to be crisp on the bottom. It was not a frittata. When I spoke to the waiter, he apologized and told me he can have them cook me new eggs. I declined. I been in the industry, I have a lot of friends in the industry and I've watched the movie Waiting... I do not want my food replaced. I would want a discount of my check instead. The waiter did not offer the discount, so he did not get a tip. There are far better places in Delco and Chesco to go to for breakfast. This will definitely not be on the list read more

Not only is it unprofessional for the customer to witness this, it is a bad way of managing. I've been in this business for years, I've managed hundreds of employees, if you have to scream you're not doing it correctly. Ok so Sunday afternoon I worked up an appetite looking for wedding venues so we stopped at first watch a restaurant we are very familiar with. From the moment my family and I walked into the restaurant we are stared at (we are a black family of three) our server Virginia sat us at our table and took our order. We started with drinks as anyone else would , she brings us stylophone cups and says all the dishes are dirty! A older whit couple who walked in as we did got seated at the table across from us and the were served glasses! At this point I tried again , I ordered a cranberry juice which was still brought to me in a stylophone cup! I'm am completely and utterly furious now!!!! I don't make a scene I remain calm and finish my entree. I observed the restaurant for a while and notice there is a middle aged white giving instructions to the host and picking up things off the floor I assume she is the supervisor, but I was in no condition to speak to anyone. She continues to make her rounds and comes close to our table my 2 year old daughter had dropped her fork on the floor this woman walked next to our table looked at the fork and stepped over it !!! I could take no more we paid our check and left! I am so hurt that this is the experience we had and I will no longer be supporting this company. Went out to breakfast this morning at first watch with my boyfriends family and I had an awful experience. First off, they got part of my order wrong- it's okay, it happens.. but the other part that I was able to eat while waiting for the other portion had HAIR in it! The server apologized and they got me new food (my total order after the messed up order + hair in my food) came when everyone else was done their food and basically were waiting on me to eat. Then, the check comes and they still charged us for the order. Never have I ever been to a restaurant that doesn't try to do something for the customers when they mess up an order, have hair in the food, and then don't get to eat until the rest of the table were done their meals.
