Over medium eggs were done perfectly. I was with my dad who loves good home fries and he raves about them. Kielbasa side was not the best but all in all great breakfast for the price. If I could give less than 1 star I would...this place is a TRAIN WRECK...I was given USED FOOD - owners have terrible attitude, waitress did not seem to know what a waitress actually does - took my order for 2 pancakes and never came back for 45 min..food was served undercooked and cold. Condiments were covered in grime and I was given butter that had knife marks in it from another customer. The owner can't handle complaints and was rude and abusive. The place is unspeakably dirty. There were crumbs and food scraps all over the floor and table tops. The windows were grimy with grease and filth. The woman who may or may not have been waiting tables spent her time sitting at the counter alternately texting (inside) and smoking (outside). She should have been working with the other staff to keep the place clean. My breakfast was only passable: The over medium eggs were cooked over easy. The bacon was crisp but strangely tasteless. The grits were gritty. The most off-putting part of my meal was an open container of butter placed on my table that was full of other people's crumbs. My advice to the owners is simple: Keep your restaurant clean, wipe down the floors and tables, and serve individually wrapped butter pats. No one should walk away from a restaurant thinking the place unsanitary. read more

Lunch Counter / Hole in the Wall / Mom and Pop Dinner - take your pick. This place is what it is and it does it GREAT. Prices - awesome. Well within a budget, or reasonable as heck, depending on your viewpoint. The point is - this is good food, good prices. Not a lot of airs. If you're looking for any atmosphere beyond the "no atmosphere" (which is one ... if .. you know what I mean) than you'll be disapointed and rank this place fairly low. If you're looking for Grub (but NOT greasy spoon. I would not call this a greasy spoon. It would be an insult to both this place AND greasy spoons). I would call it a "Dive" in the "Diners, Drive-thru and Dives" type however. Some stuff DOES stand out, if you are wanting to take a chance. Its a hole in the wall joint near the train stop. Prices are incredibly cheap and the food they offer is simple. They have a wide menu and weekday specials. This is not a cafe in the city, so people should expect it as such. If I can get two eggs, two bacon, sausage, home fries, and toast for $5, then I know what to expect. The coffee was just OK and if you want something (like water), learn how to get your waitress's attention. If you want more attention, sit at the bar. The people working there were very polite and it was quite busy for Sunday brunch. It was just an OK experience for me, but I will say the food ran right through me very quickly. My goal was to try a new place in the area and it fulfilled my needs. FYI if GPS tells you that its located on Secane and Ashland, its totally wrong. I walked in the restaurant and no one greeted me. However I noticed the hostess greeted a family that entered the restaurant after me. I was standing directly in front of her near the cash register. Then the other Hostess apparently had a cold and was blowing her nose near the grill. She returned back to the front counter and did not wash her hands. I was grossed out. The two men who were there preparing the food we're helpful but I would suggest that they have a conversation with the ladies who assist them. What can be said that others haven't. I agree with all other yelpers. It's has a lunch counter with a some booths. The breakfast was very reasonable. The service was a little slow for how crowded (12 patrons) it was on a Sunday around 10AM. I had the slammer 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 1 sausage and hashbrowns and toast all for under $7. You really can't beat the price! Just do not know if they had enough to bring me back. The hashbrowns didn't have much flavor. So, this was a totally bizarre experience. We ALWAYS drive by this place, a kinda dingy-looking joint in a strip mall, and joke that we should try it. One day we finally did. As the first reviewer said, atmosphere = not great. Booth and table weren't exactly sparkling, and there was an unidentifiable piece of... something... floating in my water. Needless to say, we were not expecting much. But. BUT! Then the food came out. And it was really good! We ate breakfast - some sort of platter involving "everything," which is the only thing the husband usually orders at places like this, and a waffle for me. (It is worth noting that we had to wait a long, long time for my waffle after the hubs got his food.) It may have been... the best waffle I've ever had? Certainly ONE of the best. Very, very thin and crispy - I've never had another waffle like it. And of course the husband enjoyed all of his food as well and agreed that it was surprisingly good, considering the context. I went in with my friend for lunch for the 20" large Train Stop Special steak sandwich cut into two. This is the steak sandwich that is suppose to have extra steak for the price. Although the sandwich was tasty, it had much less meat the we have had in the past. It seemed our sandwich had the same/correct amount of steak as a normal/regular sandwich would have. We mentioned this to our very nice waitress and she said they are using a new bakery rolls now and that the rolls are larger. Yes, the rolls are better tasting, but again, the sandwich had less meat as my stomach fullness know best. Perhaps this sandwich order was the 'one-off' sort of thing, so with that, we will try them one more time in the future. If the steak sandwich is light again with meat, we shall go elsewhere. read more

The outside doesn't do whats inside justice. If you're going for looks then its not your place but the food and people are great. My little cousin and I were walking up providence and it was the only place near for cheap. There was a tv with rachel ray on and plenty of news papers across the 'bar'. The guys behind the counter were very friendly and did a great job keeping a smile on a 5 year olds face, she asked for chocolate chip pancakes and I got the eggs with hf toast and scrapple. Her pancake came over with ears and a butter smile ( too bad she doesn't like butter lol) but the small gesture was cute and I wiped it away easily. My platter was delicious, not too big not too small , my only opinion on that was the scrapple broke apart but I love scrapple so I can be somewhat of a scrapple snob , it tasted fine though. I don't know about the last review on water but I was quite impressed. Watching it come over I saw there was no ice , which I like in mine , I was about to ask for some but my cousin took a sip and said it tasted so cold like the water fountain. ( usually no ice water at a diner is gross tasting ) it tasted great like it came from a ice cold water bottle . Then meal was coming towards an end and I looked around for a credit card machine , an couldn't find one anywhere . That's all I Had on me! If you want to eat come and get it. If you want to enjoy a meal skip it! I had been going there for years when the Mom and Pop had it but I went this week and two younger guys seemed to have taken over. After sitting there without even being acknowledged for five minutes I assumed the system had changed and walked to the counter to order. The young man asked I return and be waited on and I believe that was the only thing I agreed on my entire miserable visit. My meal came out and the two pancakes we refine but the eggs, a cheese omelet, was thick and the cheese was still square and unmelted on top and remained that way because the eggs were not hot. I didn't want to make a fuss so I ate and then attempted to discuss the matter with the young man who was cooking. He listened just long enough to realize I was not happy and his entire response was my customers like it on top and he's never heard of the cheese in the middle!
