    CHICKEN NAPOLI - delicious
    Regina M.

It seems fitting that my first review of 2025 is of this really unassuming roadside restaurant. Life is like that, yanno. Wonderful surprises await the explorer. I have driven by the Rooster Diner about 10,000 times. Maybe more. It's tucked in at a busy half-cloverleaf intersection of US 1 and PA 352, next to a mid-range motel. Not a classic "diner" building, rather a mid-60's roadside restaurant, the kind of place that was almost always by roadside motels when I was growing up. A place I never really thought about, that is, until a friend invited me there. It's a bright building, lots of big plate windows and a vaulted, beamed ceiling. Plenty of parking. Very clean, with comfy booths and banquette tables. We were settled along one wall and handed a wonderfully typical huge menu of offerings. Hamburgers. Omlettes. Open faced gravy and meat sandwiches. Then, my eye catches an entry. Chicken Napoli. No. Way. This is truly one of my favorite dishes, and one I have rarely seen on a menu anywhere. In fact, I think the last place I saw it was a tiny little restaurant tucked in a 1950s strip mall in Virginia Beach, VA. My heart, well, it kind of skipped. Oh, please, don't let this be like the fake "bolognese" sauce (really just meat sauce) dishes. I crossed my fingers and ordered. Napoli is not a common "American" Italian dish, and it takes some skill to get just right - like true bolognese and another favorite I rarely see - aglio e olio. Twenty minutes or so later, after a quite acceptable side salad, a huge plate of piping hot pasta and chicken, mixed perfectly sauteed onions and green peppers, with a smattering of tomato gravy shows up. Coated in a sheet of chewy, salty parmesan cheese. It was, in a word, divine. Not overly sauced, the chicken tender, the flavors combining beautifully. Sigh. I think I got a wee bit teary for this old favorite of mine. I have no idea how anything else was, and frankly, I doubt I ever will. This is my dish, and I will have it every time I visit, as long as they have it on menu. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. Parking is not a problem, it's got a large flat private lot that it shares with the hotel. Of course I'm going back. When one finds a rare favorite done well, they tend to become devotees, right? Yep. That's me.

THREE EGGS, APPETIZER SAMPLER, VEGETABLE OMELETTE
    Boris W.

The four of us had a good time at the Rooster Diner. We ordered the App Sampler for the table and the each of us got our own breakfast dish. I had the Three Eggs with Sausage. My scrambled eggs were really well seasoned. The sausage was not oily and the home fries were spot on. My friends did not have anything bad to say about their plates either. The only negative came from the Appetizer Sampler. We thought the wings were the only good item out of the three in the sampler. The service was good. Overall, Rooster is a good diner and the price was super reasonable.

Bacon, Egg & Cheese on a Bagel w/ Home Fries w/ Onions & Peppers

I will say our waitress was the best part of the experience. She was very communicative and pleasant. She kept checking on us the whole time. She is an asset to the establishment. She pretty much commanded the whole dining room. Food was adequate at best. I had a Bacon Egg & Cheese on a bagel. The pictures I Saw on Yelp, helped me decide what to order, I felt like I was going to get a hearty sandwich and I feel like they skimped, It was missing an egg and a slice of bacon. They asked if I wanted onions and peppers in my hash browns. They just had a pile in the back and poured them on top, mix them in there and add some seasoning to your potatoes. Give it some love! It takes 5 seconds and the pile they gave me just looked like no one cared. you eat with your eyes and I knew I wasn't going to enjoy it as much as I wanted to on a rainy dreary day.

The Rooster Diner, Media, PA. Different Breakfast sandwich #8 in the last 2 weeks. It looks like an old Denny's but it ain't a Denny's no more. I got an artsy creative vibe. I got the scrapple egg and cheese on white toast with hash browns. There was a lot of scrapple. The hash browns were brown like they should be. I was expecting more from my toast. Everything else looks and sounds amazing so I was expecting more out of the toast. $9.99 seemed a touch pricey. I don't know how I didn't get a Peanut Butter Bomb. Kind staff. Good menu. Reasonable prices. Great American diner experience. A little landscaping would serve the business well. Clean overall.

The average cost of a cocktail from the menu was around $18, so I guess I made out like a bandit. ****Another classy, imaginative interior marred by a neon sign. The rest of Two Fourteen was beautiful & sultry. The neon sign had a cheapening effect. I felt almost mocked by the bright pink sign that spelt out "good vibes only." I ordered a buffalo chicken pizza, buffalo chicken salad,…read moremozzarella sticks, Old Bay fries, double decker fries, hot poppers, chocolate cake, and a milkshake. The poppers were the best thing by far. The pizza didn't really have any flavor and was tough to chew--not overcooked, just that weird play‑doh kind of chew. The mozzarella sticks were burnt beyond recognition; I would've had better luck chewing the bottom of my shoe. The double decker fries were packaged upside down, so when I got home all the cheese, bacon, and ranch were stuck to the container. The milkshake was okay, but the tiny two‑bite sliver of cake wasn't worth $6. The croutons in the salad were soggy before the dressing even touched them, and the Old Bay fries were cold with either way too much seasoning or barely any at all. Louis is cool and tried his best to make sure my order was right, and I appreciate that, but the quality for the price is ridiculous. This is only my third time getting their food -- the first time last summer was good, but these past two times have not been it. Last time I got an inside‑out and it had me sick with the runs all day the next day. This time wasn't as bad, but my stomach has been mildly upset all day and I still had the runs for the first half of my day. I'm not saying it was definitely them, but both times this place was the first and only thing I ate, expecting no trouble, yet somehow still ending up stuck on the toilet. If you want good food for the same price, places like Sorrentos on S. 55th Street in Philly or Pizzaz Pizza in Chester are way better options.

Conveniently located on the corner of Orange and State, it's easy to find and even easier to fall in love with. The inviting glow of its windows draws you in from the street, where the hum of passing cars and the trolley mixes with the lively chatter. Stepping inside, the open and vibrant ambiance envelops you w/ soft lighting casting a warm hue over sleek tables, and an ancient brick wall while the subtle scent of ginger and soy wafts from the kitchen. Last night I ordered their sushi and sashimi platter, and it was nothing short of fresh and delightful. Each piece was as tasty as the next. Talking vibrant slices of ruby-red tuna and pale pink salmon, artfully arranged with ginger and a nice dollop of fiery wasabi. Biting in, each melted in my mouth with that perfect balance of flavors. The briny ocean freshness of the sashimi mingling with the subtle umami of soy sauce, while the sushi rice offered a slight chewiness that contrasted beautifully with the tender cuts. Service was attentive and welcoming, with staff gliding efficiently through the rooms. Their friendliness adding to the overall experience. For sushi, fresh and tasty this side of the pacific rim, Azie is a standout that'll have me back.

We were seated right at our reservation time on the second level. We appreciated the bright lighting that seems to be lacking in a lot of restaurants these days. Our server greeted us warmly, took our drinks order, and gave us plenty of time to consider the menu as we caught up with each other. There are certainly a lot of different ways you can go here. They have an interesting array of signature rolls plus more traditional rolls, nigiri, and sashimi platters, but also a nice selection of appetizers, noodle and rice dishes, salads, entrees, and even Italian-style pastas. We ended choosing a selection of appetizers and rolls. Cucumber seaweed salad - ponzu dressing with a spicy aioli, this was fresh and crispy and quite good Crispy chicken bao buns - the mantou was soft and fluffy and the chicken was nicely flavored and worked well with the slaw/relish served on the side, but we would have much preferred pork belly instead of chicken Calamari - served with a yuzu aioli, this was a little disappointing because the calamari wasn't as crispy as we had hoped Tuna crispy rice - thin slices of tuna sashimi that you put on a round fried rice cake and top with a salsa. Interesting concept, but the salsa really didn't really seem to fit with dish. It was just a bit too spicy and overwhelmed the tuna, which was also a bit too thin to take center stage shishito peppers - light tempura batter and dipped in a garlic yuzu aioli, this was quite a tasty dish Salmon Samurai and Media Maki rolls - these were unexpectedly large - they seemed to be double rolls. The salmon roll had shrimp tempura and fresh mango that was quite nice. The Media maki had shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, cucumber, and asparagus, also very good - Pistachio opera cake - moist, complex in flavor, very delicious - Molten chocolate cake - rich, dense dark chocolate cake topped with mint gelato and served with a berry compote. My favorite dessert of the evening. - Pot de creme - thick, almost frosting-consistency cream topped with berries and crunchy topping. This was almost too much sweetness and I think that a slightly lighter consistency would have been nice, but I still ate more than my share In addition to a varied menu, they have a fine selection of beers, wines, cocktails, sakes, and Japanese whiskey. Our server was quite friendly and helpful. We were allowed plenty of time to chat after our meal, and we ended up being the last party to leave the dining room. It was a lovely evening and dinner, and we're looking forward to a return visit to try some of their other offerings.

The only thing that really WOWED me was the butter that came with the croissant. I can eat that whole thing by itself. Very creamy with a hint of zest. Yum! As far as the croissants was concerned, some tasted like it was stale. The pork schnitzel (4/5) entrée was pretty good. I didn't care for the sausage and gravy topping though. Would've been better without it. Anyway, the mashed potatoes were creamy, buttery, and airy. The greens were garlicky and kind of salty. Grilled chicken Caesar (2.5/5) salad was okay. The dressing lacked in a lot of ways. More citrusy and less saltiness from anchovies. The mushroom bisque was a little grainy. Would I care for coming back? Maybe. Not anytime soon though.
